Good: 1. Big room. Two single beds and a queen bed for family suite. Within the room has a safe box, mini fridge. 2. Housekeeping quite prompt and provide mineral water + shampoo + body wash daily. Near by the room has a water dispenser. 3. Location is good. Near to Kimberly eatery shops and hawker stalls. No worries on food during day or night time. Also near to Pragin Mall, 1st Avenue and Komtar. Walking distance to tourist attraction such as dark mansion, Penang street art, wonder food gallery, pinang peranakan mansion, chew jetty. 4. Good service for their restaurant "Auction Room". The foreign worker provide a superb service for my friend birthday celebration. 5. Bed is comfortable. Extra pillow provided. Bad: 1. Room's floors are dirty and sticky even housekeeping is done. 2. Bath room design is bad and water flow out from bathing area to toilet bowl. We need to use towel to block the water from flowing out 3. Two indian front desk girls have very bad attitude and their tone won't make you feel comfortable. They have got no respect to the customer. 4. Some noise from the street at midnight if you stay at the road facing room with balcony.

This place is very dirty. The exterior is nice but once you get inside it’s bad, very bad. Hairs everywhere, bathroom was dirty, weird fluids all over the walls. The bed looks nice but once you lift the blanket….. And check the pillows ( pictures below). I talked to the front desk the just told me email the owner.

The thought of spending a night in Georgetown after going to the Chap Goh Meh celebrations at Esplanade was a great idea. We chose to stay at Kimberley because of its stragetic location. We could enjoy the abundant street food, check out the bazaar at the wet market at Penang Road and the little stalls that sold knick knacks like clothings, bags and pickled fruits and herbs at the Chinese medical halls. The nice thing about this part of town was the big malls where we could walked in to cool down after walking for many kilometres in the hot blazing sun. A great experience for hubby and I and a good break of our daily routine from the other side of the island. We chose the right hotel and found the staff to be friendly especially the cleaning foreign male staff who did a good job of maintaining the bedrooms.

Quite a comfortable stay, housekeeping was efficient, reception was helpful with directions and hotel is in a good location in the heart of Georgetown. We had daily breakfast at the hotel’s cafe, and the cafe’s service staff were very courteous and hardworking. Special mention to Jamal, who found the back of my grandma’s watch and kept it until we looked for it 2 days later. He has also been very hospitable - always greeting customers and making us feel more at home.

Pros: + Location is very central, close to all sorts of food and attractions + Has private parking space within the hotel + Check in staff was very helpful and did her best to make me comfortable by arranging for a change of room when I told her I was uncomfortable in the first room I was given + Checking in and out was swift and hassle free Cons: - Dampness upon entering the room for the first time - The bedding system was old, 3 out of 4 pillows had stains on it and the one i slept on smelled - Shower area did not have a shower screen and the entire toilet would be wet (dries within 2 hours) - Room had tea making facilities but no tea or coffee - Bath amenities were bare minimum (toothbrush, shower cap)

Had a decent stay the hotel. Fantastic location and friendly welcome. The room were a bit smaller than I imagined from the pictures. I wished that slippers came with the room without charge. the new times for the room services should be told to the guests as the menu contained the old times. I called reception once before 10pm and they said they have changed the hours and they didn’t tell me the new hours. I called room service another day at an earlier time and said kitchen closed at 3pm, the hours on the menu was pre-covid. The staff member on the telephone said that they have not changed the time on the menu because there are too many menus to change. The room service hours needs to be communicated with the guest clearly if they have changed or else like we just have to rely on what we have which is the menu provided. It was a shame considering I really did want to try the food.

PROs - Spoil by the food from breakfast to supper. All within walking distance. - Strong water shower and consistent hot water at all time. CONs - Fake window view. (No view, just the opposite room window within arm length) - Very noisy in the morning when the house keeper doing their round pushing the trolley/ carts. The room is cozy, good bed, soft pillow. Had a good sleep after long walk.

I stayed at this hotel 9 February through 12 February 2020. I go to Penang every 3 months for a Non-Immigrant Business visa for Thailand. For the past two years I have stayed here and never had a problem. The room is too small for a chair, so when I brought a beer home I sat on the bed. I spilled a little. The hotel fined me five times the retail price of the sheet, as if I'd stolen or ruined it. I agreed to pay only on the condition I keep the sheet (after all, I paid five times its value for it). I got it home, popped it in the washing machine with some oxygen bleach and viola! It's pure white, as if new again. Either the hotel don't how to do laundry, or this was a money grab. As money grabs go, it was pretty stupid: the sheet cost the equivalent of a day and a half, and last year alone I stayed 12 days. At best, this policy combined with lack of basic laundry knowledge is short-sighted. At worst, a lame scam. Oh and the main elevator smells like cat piss, and has for years. Oh. And just in case it still sounds good, be advised that the walls are paper thin, and the place is typically beseiged by loud tour groups who stay up late and wake up early. I will never, ever stay at this hotel again. Do yourself a favor and AVOID IT, in spite of the excellent location.
