Pros - The staff was impressively friendly and attentive, especially Albert from Customer Experience, who shared with us must-visit spots and dining suggestions in Penang. - We stayed in a deluxe premium room. It was large, clean, and well equipped. - There’s a 24/7 lounge where you can access free snacks and beverages (also free wine tasting 6-7pm everyday!) - The building itself is a heritage mansion, ideal for those who are into colonial architecture. Cons - Housekeeping service was in the slow lane. We switched on the cleaning light in the morning, but the room was still in the same state at 5pm when we returned. - The Samsung TV in the room was dysfunctional - audio and video not in sync, black screen when initially on, ghost images.
It was a lovely experience to stay at the Edison. We liked how things are really cozy and clean in the room, nice interior design... They have a lovely pool but a shame that I didn't get to swim. The lounge is nice. Breakfast scrambled egg was very nicely done, bread was super tasty ! Ivan the manager was professional and super helpful, the other staff members were all very friendly as well. The lounge was full of nostalgic little snacks that bring back childhood memories. The only thing I wish was different was that the hotel has a spa .....so can have a massage after a Georgetown walk (I am spoilt). Thanks team for making a nice lovely stay possible.
Stayed in The Edison for a night during Raya Holiday period and it is our best experience ever for staying in a boutique hotel. We will be definitely coming back here again during our next visit to Penang. Really appreciate their hospitality even just for 2d 1n Here are some + + for other travellers to consider 1. The location of the hotel is very strategic for travellers like us who wanted to explore Georgetown by feet. 2. Great Value for money. RM400 for a night in a comfy deluxe room and it is inclusive of breakfast , a glass of wine for each guest during WINE HOUR and unlimited access to the drinks/snacks in their Lounge. 3. The moment we stepped in to the lobby, Evan, who was handling our check in was so warm and friendly, Already make us to feel so welcomed. 4. All the staffs there basically will make u feel like u are the VIP. One of their manager Albert is so so so nice and passionate, he always checking out on us, spent time talking to us and given plenty of suggestions in a writing note for us to look out for. 5. Their bed is super duper comfortable. We had great quality of sleep there after long day of walking tour around Georgetown. Lastly, There is only one flaw that I can find through out the stay- There are quite a lot of Mosquito at the outdoor area of the lounge, but they are so kind to offer us the anti mos spray to help us out. In Overall, I will still rate them 10/10 !…
Instead of staying in a typical 4/5 star hotel we decided to spend our family short break at the Edison Hotel in George town, a converted mansion house right in the middle of this wonderful city. The Edison may not have the facilities on a conventional 4/5 star hotel but it makes up for this with charm, wonderful staff, and character. I booked 2 rooms, once for me, the wife and our 6 year old, and another for my elderly mother. The rooms were large, with king sized beds, and a good sized on suite bathroom with strong shower. Missing from the rooms, specifically ours were the option for a fold out bed for our child. The staff tried to make the 3 person sofa as comfortable as possible for our son, but considering the space in the room, a fold out bed should have been easy to accommodate. The highlight of the hotel for all of us was the staff and the courtesy lounge. The staff from check in to check out are wonderful. Helpful, friendly, and as accommodating as we could ask. For the 24 hour lounge guests are free to use the wifi and have as much snacks and soft drinks as they like. Our 6 year old relished in his ability to simply walk into the lounge, grab a fruit juice and a few packs of local snacks, and enjoy playing on his iPad. He definitely considered the lounge the highlight of the trip. Complimentary continental breakfast is also served every morning, but is limited to varieties of eggs. From a location perspective the Edison is right in the middle of George Town with endless food and drinks options surrounding the hotel. This meant we were spoiled for choice every lunchtime and evening. In summary we made the right choice staying here and not in a faceless 4/5 star hotel. I can see this becoming our goto choice for family holidays in Penang, but please buy a few fold out beds for children to use.…
Live band across the road. Loud music till 12 midnight every single day. Music loud enough to be heard in the room and you can even feel the vibrations. Simply terrible. Stayed at many SLH hotels before but this one simply failed to meet the mark. Do not stay here.
