This is one of those hotels that do great advertising photos: the reality is very different. From the photos you'd think it was pretty good .. it is though only just OK. Yes, staff are friendly, and it is walking distance to the historic centre, sleeping buddha, and on bus line.. but otherwise, I'd recommend not staying here. Unfortunately it is a heritage listed building - old public servant quarters- so they are restricted in what they can do to improve...We booked a long time in advance - a good 9 months (via booking.com). We'd also confirmed a few weeks & days before. Our corner balcony room rate was supposed to include breakfast .. seems they don't do that anymore. TV only for local Malay stations; air con pretty dismal. Everything is in need of attention. The pool - and the daily sheet change - were its saving grace (just).…
I guess you get what you pay for and RM 110 is cheap for a night. Nevertheless I was disappointed. yes the location is good and yes it has a pool....but everything else was less than average; all in all you get a clean room with clean sheets and and clean towels but everything else is pretty run down. We all have different expectations so maybe other people will disagree but for us it was not a nice experience. It was convenient as it was next door to a medical facility that we had to go to but that is about all.
Spacious room and beds. Good ambience suit family needs. Nice swimming pool. Nearby to shopping malls and eateries. Stay for 3 days 2 nights for a 5 family members. Staff are helpful and friendly. Room is clean and spacious. I will come back.
1926 got all maximum stars for their rooms, services, and their people are nice too! i even extend my stay there ! my birthday celebration has went successfully ! thank you for your great in everything ❤️
Lotsa Parking and a dance club just in front of the hotel, and a small pool for a dip. Room is clean but it is certainly at the level of rundown, with basic amenities readily available. You can actually fill up with hot or cold water downstairs, but coffee/tea facility is available too. Its fully wooden floor, very old, thus, the noise is there. The room I got have some cracks on the floor and an old Air Condition, which do take a quite while to cool up the room. Well, it rained heavily the nite we were there, so it was not bad. In room bath was 1 feet above the floor, which is understood as it was not supposed to be there nearly 100 years ago, still it is a bit rundown. Everything works fine, so its ok. Food courts next door open at night, both of them, local chinese food are the main but no halal food nearby. 7-11 is a stroll after the food court and a few Biscuit Shops around, Ghee Hiang Him Hiang, even the Tiger from teluk itan were there too.…
we spent some time to inspect this property and found it very interesting.it is a long 2 stories high.with very old steep stairs no lifts.the rooms on the ground floor have verandahs that some open up to the pool area.the second floor verandahs are ok but i think the front ground floor are good rooms are very old and small but clean and tidy.breakfast looks to be questionable as it is separate concern.for a few nights fine but for a long stay not sure at all.if on a budget perfect.
At just over £20 a night we had a room with full facilities. Straight out to our balcony, then into the pool. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's in a quiet position, just a cheap taxi away from the action, but quiet inside the hotel. Internet in the room is not so good, but ok near reception.
My bed had dirty sheets, and the receptionist didn't seem at all surprised. Shower was dirty and old, toilet didn't flush properly. Breakfast was very ordinary (good coffee), but not the buffet that is on the website. Dining room was stuffy and smelly. Not a nice place to stay.
For the price we paid, there are really other better choices in penang! The pillows are old, uneven and I would called it spoiled! The air condition is not well maintained. Its still not cold enough even when we set it at 16!
It was not my first stay here. On our last day, when we wake up in the morning and found a small worm on the bedsheet. I did informed the receptionist when we check out and there was no response at all. The food was not replenish and the dining area is stuffy and leave you shirts with smell. I think time to move on to other places.
