Detailed Reviews
We stayed at a studio suite in tropics eight (room 805) for a week during our visit to Penang. The hotel staff are lovely and very accomodating, our room had a fantastic binder with all the information we needed to know about tropics eight, Penang tourist destinations and bus routes to get to them.
Our studio was spacious and the bathroom was clean. The sofa was comfortable as well, and the location of tropics eight was perfect for us to walk to nearby places.
The laundry room was very useful, but we unfortunately had to wait a while to do our laundry as only one machine was functioning during our stay.
I only wish our room had a window instead of a small balcony so that we could have enjoyed the view all day long.
Overall, it was a great stay. I would no doubt return to tropics eight again.

Best value accommodation during our stay at Pinang. It's a kind of service apartment, with a very spacious room. It is beyond what I expected. Ideal for those who need to stay with friends and family. Just a minute away from street hawkers at the corner which open till late at night. Everything is just exactly as in the photos. They provide water dispensers outside the room ( i believe every floor has one). It would be better if the shower has hotter water.

We stayed two nights 26-28 June.
1. Our room access was terminated on 27 June as they thought we stay only one night. Getting key replacement was a hassle. We waited quite long.
2. One of the reception staff deliberately gave us wrong email address for complaint. Was given xxx@tropicssuite.com instead of xxx@tropicseight.com after we said we are going to complaint about him having no eye contact at all and being no manners.
3. WiFi is totally unable to connect at room 702. Reported upon check in but nothing done to rectify the non connectivity.
4. On our second night, around 1.30am, there were loud noises came from upstairs. Guests were having party till 3am. The hotel management didn’t do anything about it. Room has no sound proof.
5. Leather sofa is a bit old with leather chipped off.
Other than that all ok. Clean and spacious.

Checked in at 3.30 pm to an uncleaned suite. All bins were fulled with rubbish. Bed was not made and towels were everywhere. Basically the room was not cleaned after the last customer checked out. Called receptionist to assist, he said to wait for housecleaning to clean the room first. Obviously i couldnt wait coz i checked in on time, not earlier. They should have prepared everything before hand. And with a 4mo baby, am definitely have no time to wait for the room to be cleaned. Receptionist was also reluctant when i requested to change room as he said all rooms of same rate were full 🙄. Only after i started to marah marah then only they gave us a new room. Basically just dont go here.

Worst experience ever! Totally not worth the RM250+ per night stay.
Poor housekeeping:
1. No bath towels, hand towel, box tissue provided upon check-in, you have to ask for it yourself
2. No housekeeping. Found our room not made up after spending a whole day outside.
3. The bed linen covers half of the bed only, how strange it is, and feels a little bit dirty
4. The blanket is uncomfortable
Room: 1. facing cemetery (wish I knew it)
2. Facing noisy street (all night even at 3am) as my room is on the 4/F
3. There is a shallow balcony but you don’t want to go outside as it’s full of birds popo, guess it’s never cleaned
4. No separation of the shower area and toilet, which I don’t like it
Facilities:
1. There is staircase in front of the hotel, not friendly for those carrying heavy luggages as you have to lift them up yourself
2. Gym & laundry placing together. Don’t expect to gym there because the air-con is malfunctioned. It’s just not a proper gym place.
Staff: not welcoming at all, some are impolite

Stayed here recently, family booked it. I would say our 8th floor room DIDN’T FEEL GREAT. Colour scheme too dark and gloomy for a room that faces cemetery, bathroom mirror lighting position makes me feel like I’m living in a ghost/horror movie every time i look at the mirror (as lighting was from below). Room also feels a bit spooky as the shower lights flickers only when showering, midnight can hear “someone” playing with aircond and switches and furnitures moving in the living room. Extremely bad sound proofing too. Carpark extremely tight, very troublesome to access - must check in first to get the access card, B2 lift area is not for the claustrophobic. Reception couldn’t be bothered to help with our luggages. Thankfully only 1 night and we left immediately before sunrise. There are better hotels in Penang. The spacious room couldn’t compensate to the bad feeling we had in this room.

Dear Tropics Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express our gratitude for the wonderful stay we had at Tropics. We took 7 rooms last week on Friday. The atmosphere was perfect, and the staff was exceptionally especially the front desk helpful and courteous throughout our visit.
However, I would like to bring to your attention some concerns we experienced with the breakfast options during our stay. We found the menu to be lacking in variety, as it seemed to repeat itself each day. Additionally, I would like to respectfully request that you ask the kitchen staff to consider changing the oil used in food preparation. They also provide the same food for two days directly and when we asked, we were told the food is limited. The staff is very rude also. Unfortunately, after one morning’s breakfast, my child experienced vomiting, which led us to stop eating breakfast altogether.
While these issues dampened our experience, please know that we still hold Tropics high regard and believe it remains one of the best Suite we have visited. kind advice please don't spoil your property value by providing cheapskate quality of restaurant
Thank you for your attention to these matters. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and hope for improvements on our next visit.
Warm regards,

This small hotel, tucked away in Pulau Tikus, Penang is a gem! I was lucky to be upgraded, so I had a one-bedroom apartment - complete with kitchenette, fridge/freezer, and lots and lots of space.
Parking is not a problem, and I love the fact that it is quite central without becoming embroiled in endless traffic jams. Lots of shops around to get whatever you need.
Will definitely stay here again next time I am in Penang.

The Tropics Eight Suite room was very spacy and clean enough. My family liked it very much. They provided with laundry and can refilled the water by ourself. But the place quite far. Overall was very good... Maybe next visit Penang will consider to stay at Tropics Eight Suite again...

The front counter staff was extremely rude and allowed other patrons to cut the queue and raises her voice when voiced my complaint about this lapse in service. the staff in question was on duty at 1620 hours. Ruined my entire check in experience. Perhaps should be reduced to a 1 star establishment for this lapse. Havent seen the room yet and extremely displeased.

Hi, Our Standard Suite not come with sofa bed,
only Premier and Family Suites have Sofa bed
Hi, All our Suites come with one Bathroom only
You may park at the basement if you are staying here on weekdays. Weekends? Sorry, park at the road side or empty space across the road.
There's no multi level parking available. There's parking in the basement that is for first come first serve availability. Otherwise, there's street parking available at RM6 per day, I believe.
