Spacious as it is...where health centres..cafe/bars...massages and eateries located nearby. Good location where availability of bus stop to your destinations..even by taxis. At weekends..should you book your rooms...stay away from front view of hotel as night noises will prevent you from sleeping until early mornings. Normal days quieter to stay as it is less busy.

It was a really cheap price for a big room but our room's window were broken so it was kinda scary because it rained in the middle of the night and the wind makes the curtain flops around. Toilet could have been a little cleaner.

Good place to stay in Penang at budget price. Room facilities include air con, private bathroom with hot shower, spacious rooms and excellent wifi. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is very clean with big windows. This hotel is unfortunately near to the very noisy bar which affects all hotels in this area until late at night, including the upmarket boutique Chong Fatt Zhe mansion. Bring some earplugs and all will be ok! Close to Chulia st and Muntri St and provides much better value rooms than the budget places in both these streets. It really is an old fashioned hotel just like they all were in Penang 20 years ago. Worth giving it a try if you want a true old Penang experience. We had a great stay.

An old building in a great location, run by the same family since I first stayed there 15 years ago. If you want wi-fi and plasma tvs this is not your place, if you want a comfortable, safe, well priced and well located room you would be lucky to do better. Some negative comments about the reception staff, but in the many times I have stayed there they have always been smiling and pleasant, and happy to ring around and find the bus tickets that you want even in the peak holiday seasons.

The lady at reception is just not nice at all. The room was nice, clean and big; bed linen not so clean. The old guy who show you the room was very friendly but looked to be tired of life. I spent 1 night and it was enough because the atmosphere is not funny. The hotel is placed in front of the chinese night market so it's good for dinner. I went in february 2011.

Another no thrills, basic but clean enough. No meals or breakfast and no kettle in room. SHower with hot water. Occasionally get ants in the rooms due to previous occupants. Important note! No Internet and no TV Channels in English Language Located at far end of busy street, best in late evening when street stalls open for food. Near The Malaysia Hotel. Classic, old Chinese-British Colonial style building which backs onto a cemetary. .
