The amenities in the hotel need to refurbish and replace with the new one. The cleanliness of the hotel rooms need to pay attention too. However you can explore the back street of the hotel to enjoy the night life.

When I was 11 years old, my father took us on a family holiday to Penang Island and we stayed at the Waldorf, in those days all I could remember was it was that it was a skyscraper. This was way back in 1971-2. One day my whole family went out from the Waldorf on foot along the front street as we were shopping I got separated from my family and then all I remember was trying to get back to my hotel, I remembered it being the tallest structure then in my memory. I walked backwards back tracking along the road and in about 20 minutes I found the Waldorf hotel. I sat around the lobby waiting and sure enough my family returned to the hotel searching for me and were so relieved to find me sitting so calmly waiting in the hotel lobby for them to come get me! I write this review to commemorate that awesome experience of called brave and smart , but actually the Waldorf stood out in those days as the skyscraper it was to me. Thanks for the memories Waldorf Hotel.

It is like a trip in the past, bath taps terrible, but at least there is a bath, lift old and slow, but there is a lift, bed ok, air conditioner works, large room, cheap hotel, friendly owners, large car-park, handy- good position, close to many restaurants and night clubs, also opposite large food centre.

Budget hotel no doubt but reasonable clean..easy access to the blue mansion or cheong fatt tze mansion..by walking right at front where one could eat at red garden food paradise....walking distances either to relax one's body or drink a couple bottle of beers at upper penang road...or most popular..Soho...various types of hotels also available.

I stayed here for 2 days. The Rooms are basic The bed is okey.Airconditioner is okey but if its noisy you have to call the lobby to fix it. This Hotel needs some serious upgrade. I stayed on the 3rd Floor almost their rooms has a Big Bathtub but the water in this Hotel is not enough water pressure and the Hot shower is not Hot at all. The room is pretty clean but smelly room. Smell comes from the wall or something. The room size is medium is not small is not big. The rooms has a TV but no cable only local channel. Yes. They have Wifi here and is good all rooms has a wifi. You do not need to go outside to get the connection in each room has a good connection. And you can use many devices as you can unlike other Hotel you can only use 2 device and you pay for the 3rd one. Yes. they haye elevator. But if you like quite hotel? This is good for you. Well. The price is a liitle bit overpriced for the basic hotel like this. This Hotel has no complimentary at all. So dont expect anything. About the Desk people at the lobby, well they are not too friendly.

It is an old hotel; but I bet in its hey days it was one of the hotel in town. Recently did some upgrading, with new bedding tv and paint job. What I like is that it have ample parking space for guests. Wifi in the room I stayed is acceptable. Waldorf is situated near Penang Road and Chulia Street where there are a lot of tourist attractions. Little India, Esplanade are walking distant from the Hotel. The only thing if you are an early and light sleeper, stay away from the room facing the food court as at night the singing may disturb your sleep. Eateries are everywhere around the hotel so you can pick and choose what you want to eat. For muslims there are also some nice nasi kandar nearby and "Line Clear" is one of them.

I recall the bed being quite soft which is very welcome in Asia, as many beds there tend to be of the hard variety. The place feels a bit dated and in need of significant modernization. The price was quite reasonable and the room quite spacious. You could do worse. And in Penang you probably won't spend much time in your hotel in any case.

Went on business trip a while back and decided to "slum" it out. I regret ever doing that, I felt like kicking myself. This place is absolutely horrible and run down. Rats and cockroaches reign supreme here. Beds are uncomfortable and the sheets smell. I did not bother to really complain, considering the price is dirt cheap. I will go to the newer cleaner Cititel next time I am in town for business.

We arrived to find most places in the area full or the ones that had rooms were terrible . We found the Waldorf and booked in for one night but ended up staying for four nights . The rooms large but basic , reasonably clean but ageing , The price for the room was reasonable . The staff at reception were a bit standoffish at first but after staying there for a couple of days were quite friendly and helpful .The hotel has a lift which is a bonus . Its across the road from the night market and near many restaurants . An old hotel but adequate for a couple of nights stay.

A Simple mid class hotel for the business travellers visiting Penang. Rooms were big, bed sheet were clean, mattress firm to sleep. Rooms are big and those facing the back of Continental will have more noisy room due to traffic flows. There were lifts in this hotel too.
