I can't believe that such a terrible hotel can have a pretty good opinions. Walls were so fick, that I could hear alarm clock ringing in next room. Even a "fresh" towers stank as if they weren't washed at all. Due to a huge window, which was dirty by the way, on the morning there was so hot that AC was not able to cool down the room.

Great value for money. Walking distance to most things like malls, food and attractions. Comfortable bed. Cold Aircon and Hot running water! Just wish there was a larger safe that fit laptops and a few more channels on the TV as I like to watch a little something before bed. However, there was only 3 Malaysian channels showing, Nice lobby sitting area too.

A much needed rest near eateries where minimum driving is required was what prompted our stay here, before our ongoing journey back to our hometown. As Summer Tree boasts of a convenient place for eateries by travellers, we chose to stay here for one night to check out the vicinity and the hotel. As advised, we parked at basement. Very, very difficult & precarious as ceiling was low and one section could not accommodate the top of our car at all. Glad we moved the car as there was an available parking lot right in front of hotel. Lo & behold, upon return from dinner, we were told to move the car forward to allow another car to park behind. Mind you, it was a yellow box for ONE car only. No indication at all that it was for double parking- nobody said anything during our check-in, just said there are 2 other parking lots opposite the hotel. We were told to "tolerate" by staff. In the first place, let your guests know the whole truth before even asking guests to "tolerate" your incompetence. It was late and we were tired. After much hassle, staff & parking attendant would not budge. We moved our car forward very hesitantly. We had to make do with the fact that we could not move out earlier even if we wanted to, if it meant having to disturb the guest behind our car. To be transparent, the hotel should place a prominent notice that cars need to double park if chose to park in front of hotel. As for other amenities, the hotel is well equipped as per photos shared. The shower foam is labelled as body/hand wash. That discourages guests to use it. Deluxe Double with Landmark View lived up to expectations with view of Komtar, but the windows are tinted with mesh sunshade window film, view was rather blur. We could not see if it had stopped heavy drizzle nor if there were people carrying umbrellas, as an indication for us to walk out for dinner. Honestly, with so many other hotels nearby, I would choose others, in future, (even tho' we need to pay a bit higher). Do note that this hotel does not participate fully in Genius discounts on Booking.com . Only certain rooms are entitled to the Genius discount. One night stay is enough for us.

Comfortable and strategic hotel. Located near Macalister Street which full of hawker foods. Also near several hospitals. The room is clean, bed is comfortable and all the staff are friendly. We will definitely come back here next time we come to Penang

Stayed for 4 nights at the 2nd floor. Standard room for 2 person. Room was small and basic, housekeeping replenished 2 packets of Aik Cheong kopi o and 2 bottles mineral water everyday. Room has cigarette smell, no ventilation as the windows can't open and the walls are paper thin. Can hear clearly what the next room's guests are talking or when people open & close doors. Definitely not for light sleepers. Water pressure in the toilet is good and there are 2 bottles of hand shampoo/hair shampoo/body shampoo (all 3 in 1?) provided, but I only used it to wash my hands cos I dare not use it on my hair and body. Kettle in the room is very dirty and rusty. Had to take hot & cold water from the Coway water dispenser at the lobby. Lobby is quite nice, provides water dispenser, microwave, dining table & toilets for guests. Parking is very limited in front of the hotel (about 3 lots) and at the basement (about 8 lots). First come first serve. Hotel is conveniently located at Jln Rangoon, walking distance to New World Park and other hawker stalls at Jln Macalister, Lorong Selamat.

Actually i like staying at this hotel, it's just some several factors that makes me disappointed. The location of the hotel is very good, easy to find food, the rooms are comfortable, the beds are comfortable and the room lights are also bright. The hotel also provides laundry & ironing. I stayed here 2 times for 9 days. So i used 2 different rooms, but two rooms i stayed the hot water didn't work until the technician fixed it . The second time i staying, the sheets & blankets had not been changed from the previous guest, because there was a lot of hairs on the sheets, pillows & blankets, House keeping said it had been replaced but it was impossible for 2 twin beds have a lot of hairs. When I asked for the sheets to be changed again, the house keeping looks angry, when the hotel staff left my room, the house keeping deliberately kept on shaking the sheets strongly until the dust flew, the floor became dust, the soles of feet were really dirty because dust on the floor . And she nagging using another language that i don't understand. And after that i have to clean the floor by my self. The receptionist staffs are very friendly and helpful. But this hotel doesn't have a bellboy, so those who carry a lot of luggage have to carry all the luggage by themselves because there is no one to help. The aircon in my room also leaked.

I am writing on behalf of my mother. She had a great stay in Summer Tree Hotel. Room was as advertised. Impeccably clean and beautiful.Thank you for taking care of her. She had a bad experience in a previous hotel and chose to leave and walk in to another hotel hoping for a better experience. Thank you for making her stay enjoyable and memorable . Special thanks to Ellina for going the extra mile to assist her with the departure arrangements. My mom was touched that she offered to check the Grab for her and assisted her to the car with her luggages in midst of rain. This is definitely a 2 star hotel with a 5 star service. Will definitely choose to stay here again next time!

I've stayed in Summertree Hotel Penang on 14/5/22 and I have concluded that this is the worse experience ever for a seasoned traveler. Although it's this is not a 5 star hotel, and the room rates are not considered expensive, I would avoid to stay in this hotel again for the following reason Receptionist: Nazz Manager: Sharul 1) Requested for an extra blanker for my wife who is pregnant. The reply I got was:"our blankets in this hotel is ngam ngam only". Blunt and non empathetic from the front desk. 2) We experienced a black out at about 9.30pm. we have just returned back to our rooms, looking forward to a good shower and rest after a long day but ended up showering in the dark. Was upset and frustrated but was denied a refund and the opportunity to talk to the manager. There was no effort to console the customer and we were expected to just accept whatever unfortunate encounter that landed on us. Demanded to speak to the manager, but was refused by the front desk. It's not about the money but the experience and non empathetic treatment by the front desk. Denied a refund and ended up showering in the dark until the electricity came back
