Great little boutique hotel on Chulia Street, near hawker stands, great bakeries, bus stops, 7-11, street art, and many of the interesting historical sites in Georgetown. The first night we arrived, the hotel manager suggested a street food vendor just a few blocks away and it was amazing! As were the other restaurants he recommended. One evening he took us to a new restaurant just opened by the hotel- the food there was fantastic too. Coffee, tea, and water refills were available right down the hall. The room (2nd floor) was great, and we easily took the bus to Penang Hill, Batu Ferrenghi, Komtar and other locations around the island. One of the best parts - a large outdoor terrace, away from the street, where you could enjoy your morning coffee (or tea).
amazing stay! didnt expect everything turns out the way it is.. the room are clean , the staff are very helpfull and reliable and they really take great care of you and your needs , i will deffinetly come back and stay here again.. this has been my fav hotel all over penang.. thank you so much for all the staff there dor helping me during my stay
We really loved our stay! Favourite three things: the staff, the location, the most comfy bed ever. The staff was so kind and showed us around Georgetown and took us out for food. You do not find that kind of hospitality often. Honestly, I really recommend this great hotel - you will not regret it!
Loved this unassuming little hotel residence! Location: Along Chulia Street, next door to two great Nyonya cafes: Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay & Canteen known for its Nyonya kuihs, and Yee Keng Cafe, known for its combination of Nyonya and Hainanese food. Family Mart and other convenience stores are just a walk away, as are the famous bars and restaurants along Love Lane and Chulia Street. Hawker food choices are also all within walking distance. Rooms / Facilities: The modern and beautifully designed rooms are very comfortable, snug, and functional. The bed was very comfortable and as I was upgraded to a king room it felt super luxurious and decadent. It's the first time I have been in rooms fully kitted with Samsung curved screens so my viewing experience was very enjoyable. The 3rd floor was incredibly peaceful. Sometimes, I could hear the music from the nearby bars, but once I switched on the TV, I was in my world. I liked that the TVs were smart and you could access the internet or your networks such as Netflix or even wetv in addition to the local TV and radio channels available. The room was also fitted with a hairdryer and ample sockets for electrical items. Tien provided unlimited brewed coffee and tea at their pantry on the second floor. There is also a huge fridge on the second floor where I was able to store some food and drinks and cutlery and plates for your use. I did not get a chance to try out the mini-plunge pool which together with the rest of the rooftop is accessible 24 hrs. Every now and then I loved being able to pop out and take in the fresh air, and check the weather and temperature before I decided to step out. I enjoyed having my lunch in the dining area on the 2nd floor just before checking out. Redho, the manager, was very hospitable, made me a welcome drink, and showed me to my room, helping me with my luggage, even though I arrived after 11 pm. He also reached out to me to check if everything was ok and on my checkout times. Parking: For those with their cars, the premise does not have parking. Nevertheless, there is an alley just next door where public parking can be arranged for RM8/day and someone is watching over the cars throughout the day and the night. Something to note: the residence is a two-floor premise, with rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. If you do not like to walk upstairs or if you have a lot of luggage, then this may be a challenge or you should pick rooms on the 2nd floor. As hot water, coffee, tea, and fridge facilities are in the pantry, these are not provided in the rooms so you would need to pop down for refills or pack a thermos with you (which I did). Cups, plates, and cutlery are provided which I could bring back to the room to use.…
This hotel is located in the bar and restaurant area and is situated across the junction a pub that plays loud music with strong beats until 1:30am. Do not stay there if you want to have a quiet place. Also, there’s no front desk and late visitors may ring the bell. On the first night of my stay, someone rang the bell 5 times after 1:30am. I ended up having to move because of the lack of sleep. When I whatsapped the staff (who was the only one with a WhatsApp number; the other contact, who’s the manager, is only accessible by a local phone number, and there was not a phone in the room or anywhere in the hotel that could be used), the response was slow, because the hotel was short staffed and the on-the-ground staff had to cover a couple of properties and seemed overworked. When that staff told me to meet the manager the next afternoon as she would be there, I found that she was NOT there at all after I had waited for 20 minutes. When I finally checked out and got back my deposit of MYR100 (by the way this was the only property out of the 3 hotels I stayed in Penang that asked for a deposit), I wasn’t repaid the few MYR I paid for the govt tax for the next couple of nights. I did manage to get a refund of the remaining nights, but in the process the manager was slow in her response as if she didn’t care or want to address my questions. To be fair, the hardware and location of this hotel is great, but with so many options out there, do think twice before you book this hotel. …
I loved it! The pool on the rooftop is really cozy. The rooms are modern, clean and very beautiful! Definitely worth it & 100% recommended. It is located in the city center, there are loads of restaurants nearby.
Room is clean! Small cozy boutique hotel , lots of instagrammable spot inside and nearby Chulia Hawker Street. Easy access for foods within walking distance. Nearby parking area. Suitable for couples.
Another great trip to Penang made all the more amazing by the hospitality of Atawan, Priya and the team at Tien. As far as boutique hotels go, there’s no other hotel that offer these cool vibes at such good value. Special mention for the in-shower bluetooth speaker, huge outdoor 24 hour terraces and free flow coffee. Simply amazing.
Nice little boutique hotel located at Chulia Street. Very convenient to all the street food, cafes and massage parlour. Less than 1km walk to little India and Armenian Street. Room was clean and comfortable and soundprofing of the hotel is very good. But the room do not have fridge, the fridge is outside at the pantry and shared with all guests. Coffee machine available and u can refil ur own water bottle. The hotel do not have own parking space but u can park at uncle car park at RM6 per day. The parking is first come first serve basis. Highly recommended this hotel.
I visited the hotel for the new year and it was a great experience. We had the suite and it was very comfortable, well decorated, and it included a small living room and a yard. The hotel is beautifully decorated and is located in a great location: a half block from the nice places to have brunch, 2 blocks from the best Dim Sums in town, 1 block from the bars and restaurants area, and just a few blocks from the Art Street.
