On check in , when we asked the guy on reception where was the lounge and the restaurant, we were told the lounge and restaurant were closed, " there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the area. Tired after a long days journey we wanted to relax in the lounge, which the hotel boasts, reception staff were extremely rude. Went to the room, it was dirty. Because we were hungry and tired, We couldn't find a bar or restaurant in the vicinty, bearing in mind we have been to Penang many times, we had to get a taxi. Back to the hotel to sleep, in the morning the breakfast was not good, cold food, coffee was so weak it was hot water, and the staff were miserable, particularly the egg station, who does not do poached eggs!. We went out for the day, got back the room was flooded from above, we were moved to another room, this room was disgusting, nothing was clean, it looked like it had never been cleaned since before covid, Complained and were offered another room, however it didn't materialise to the next day. This room was OK on the inside, however outside the decking on the balcony was rotten. To sum up the hotel advertises two pools, theres only one, the area around the pool was dirty and unkempt, no poolside bar the spa is closed. No wonder we were charged the full 4 night stay on check in. Would definitely not recommend this hotel.…

The hotel is nice and in a great location. The staff is very friendly on reception, in the shops and in the restaurants, the cleaning staff are friendly and helpful and the pools are clean with seats available even later in the morning. The reason for the 3 stars is the service in the beach bar. They repeatedly “forgot” when we’d asked for water, and took 45+ mins to serve drinks. The staff would purposefully ignore you when standing at the bar, not acknowledge you and also lied to my wife with “we will do your drinks next” and then not follow up on this. This was not an isolated evening but happened on all nights of our stay which is so disappointing as there were many frustrated guests trying to enjoy a drink in a beautiful setting but constantly being let down by the staff. I would love to come back to the ParkRoyal in Penang but only if I see reviews that the service has improved, I don’t want my 7&5 year old daughters waiting an hour for a glass of water. I have been to this cosy paradise as many times I have an opportunity. Gustoso restaurant has amazing and exquisite food that Chef Marìo always spoil us with. Mr Jelani always brings a super special attention in any single detail. I have been hosting many birthdays at Gustoso and never there is a fail thanks to him. Service always is super and the quality of the food and drinks never disappoints. I always leave so grateful with a big smile, happy stomach and happy heart.

I visited this month for a quick get-a-way. I grabbed the on going promo that time the price is so affordable. Great for a short staycation to clear of your mind. Located in mid of the town, good access to hotel parking. You dont have to worry about the safety of your car, and just a few minutes drive to get local street foods. The room is cozy and fresh enough for a solo guest like me. The front office staffs are very warm and welcoming, especially to Achong. Coming back from meeting i was so tired and bum but upon arrival he welcomed me with a happy smile. I felt at home. He made sure my stay is memorable, i had a smooth check in process thanks to Achong. He also complemented my room with a beautiful view. Such a great staff your hotel have! I will definitely recommend my friends and families to stay here in the future. Good qualities and price-wise, def will come back! …

I choose this hotel to have a stay-cation with my best friend. Really a nice and clean hotel. It is located in the centre of the city, easy for us to travel and explore Penang. The cost is pocket friendly and the staff is lovely.
