Clans Kongsi Georgetown are unique boutique residences inside Penang’s heritage jewel – the Khoo Kongsi right in the heart of the Georgetown Unesco World Heritage Site. The residences now occupy what was originally known by the Khoo Clan as Sixteen Houses. They were so named as they were built as 16 units of terrace houses flanking the alleyway from the main entrance to the central Clan Temple and courtyard. Clans Kongsi Georgetown's guests will gain a deeper appreciation of the area's rich history as we offer free morning walk (45 min) with your "host" (subject to weather conditions). In addition, guests will be able to enjoy multiple entries to the Khoo Kongsi Clan House itself (during their operating hours, 0900-1700).

Excellent boutique hotel in a central location, walking distance to everything. The staff are exceptional in their service and will go out of their way to assist and helped us out when my partner was unwell.
The rooms are beautiful with a wonderful tasteful tropical colonial aesthetic and space. The room is equipped with a nespresso machine and you can access filtered water, non alcoholic drinks whenever you want. They also have a delightful afternoon tea which is complimentary and served to your room or in the lounge area. I will definitely be returning here on my next trip to Penang.

Large rooms, friendly service. Breakfast and afternoon tea included. Nice bathroom with retro fittings, lots of character makes a nice change to standard modern hotel rooms.
Great base for exploring the historic streets around the property. Lots of gift shops and eateries just outside, convenience store 5 mins away.
We had a very enjoyable 3 nights stay and would definitely return again.

The hotel building has a rich history behind and it is located in the best area. You will find the best local street food all around and tourist attractions such as Armenian Art Street.

I love my stay here. Staffs are friendly and I felt very comfortable staying
The rooms felt like staying a suite. My fav part is the bathroom. It is spacious and I could sit on the cemented seat while having a rain shower.

Hotel offers complimentary entrance to the Clan Kongsi museum which is next to the hotel, daily afternoon tea and morning tour daily.

I looked forward to come back to this beautiful hotel soon.

An amazing property. Over 200 years old and after a painstaking refurbishment which lasted almost a decade it's now welcoming guests. The Khoo Clan dates back a few hundred years and has a stoic history that goes back to mainland China. A definite must stop if you want to experience luxe boutique amongst the many options available in the vicinity. Very cosy, very well refurbished and worth the money if you want to lose yourself in a part of Penang's bygone era!

Enjoyed my stay here. Great everything. Very historical and I love that very very much woow. Definitely will be back again. Only sad about not having a restaurant but overall perfect.. Loved my breakfast in bed. The all idea here is to make it as personal as possible. When I checked in at 9 am they let me in to my room directly. And checking out was super. I had a late check out and they are so nice about it. This is written by a very very picky person when it comes to hotels.

I stayed here for a night. The hotel consists of old houses which have been beautifully restored into a boutique hotel. It is located in the lane that leads to Khoo Kongsi, and entry into Khoo Kongsi is complimentary. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. A welcome drink is provided on arrival. A complimentary guided walk and afternoon tea and snacks are also provided (although I missed both due to my schedule). Some snacks are also provided in your room. Complimentary soft drinks are available downstairs. You select items for breakfast in advance from a list, and you have the option for breakfast to be served in your room. The room was relatively small but comfortable and tastefully furnished. The bathroom was outdoors and was very spacious. A very different experience. An open concept also means that you can hear conversations and noises from ground level and sometimes be seen from the top floor of some buildings nearby. From 5am onwards, prayers from the nearby mosque can be heard, which means that your sleep will be interrupted. Also, noises from the staff downstairs, carrying out their daily chores, can be heard. All in all, an experience definitely worth trying. Just bring along some earplugs!

Dear dbasha, We are thrilled to find that you have enjoyed your stay here with us at Clans Kongsi Georgetown! We appreciate your acknowledgement of the restoration work of the Hotel For your kind information, the Management have taken a very thorough consideration and took every single steps to bring these Old Clans Houses back to life! We are sorry to hear that you have missed the complimentary guided walk and afternoon tea due to your schedule, perhaps we could accommodate you on it during your next stay with us. Our humble apologies from the noises. Rest assure that we are taking your feedback seriously in order to ensure our guest satisfaction. As additional info, we do provide an earplug for our hotel guests as we understand the morning prayers calling from the nearby mosque could be quite loud for certain people. However, we would consider it as one of the many unique characters of our Clans Kongsi Georgetown, whereby you would experience the living cultural habitat itself - The Sound, The Smell and The Sight of Penang Heritage Areas. Again, thank you for your great feedback, looking forward to see you anytime near future.
