Detailed Reviews
Stepping in off Armenian Street we were initially grateful for the amazing air conditioning and welcoming staff. It is definately an escape from the heat and bustle of George Town. If you have the opportunity to stay here take it!
88 Armenian exudes luxury beyond that of larger five star hotel chains. The interior design is bespoke from the baths to the coat hangers and the additional extras are so thoughtful. A menu from which you can choose the bath salts to be used when a bath is run for you, gorgeous Aesop toiletries, complimentry minibar and such a comfy bed. Right in the heart of George Town and directly across from our favourite Kopi and steam buns the location was perfect.
It was really so great to escape the heat in such a beautiful space. We travelled with our parents and it was heart warming to see how generous the team at 88 Armenian were to them. They are having the holiday of their lifetime and a big part of it is due to our experience at 88 Armenian.

Our stay was made especially delightful due to the excellent hospitality provided by the guest service personnel; Sky. The room and facilities were top notch and they also provided a free bath butler service with Aesop amenities. The food was fantastic too. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely stay here again.

What a great experience! The suite I was in was simply amazing and so comfortable, you’d never want to leave the room. The room comes with a bath and bath service, perfect to end the night with.
Overall, great ambience, amazing decor, great service and very comfortable!

A building that stands out from crowd in the heart of Georgetown. This hotel is strategically located where most attractions and sought-after eateries are within walking distance. Staffs were very helpful (with just anything), friendly and professional. We had nutmeg based beverage as welcome drinks that my niece surprisingly enjoyed and wanted more while listening to briefing on local delicacies and attractions along with the background story of the hotel upon check-in. We stayed in Mackenzie and Revere suites, each can accomodate 3 pax. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. I love that the bathroom has good shower water pressure and responsive temperature control. The complimentary bath butler service is a must-try experience especially after a long day. Lovely breakfast with fresh fruits. Of course, Aesop, Netflix, and particularly Spotify with B&O speaker made the entire stay even more enjoyable.

I would say it's one of the best small hotels in the world. Everything is perfect. The rooms are very nice, bright, well thought out, already furnished, with high-tech, iPad for controlling the lights, music, electronics. Everything has been thought through down to the last detail. In the bathroom, a walk-in shower and a great big bathtub 🛁. Everything is there for washing your hair, showering, body lotion, toothbrushes... a high-tech body scale.
The food, the breakfast, the drinks... everything is prepared with a lot of love.
The whole crew is very nice and accommodating.
We washed clothes quickly by hand and hung them up by the window. The boss then brought them in when she was getting the room ready for the night because it started to rain.
There are always umbrellas available that you can borrow at any time if it rains.
The hotel is in the heart of George Town.
We would check into the hotel again at any time, the price is always reasonable.

Stayed here for 7 nights with my girlfriend in the Rodin Room and was impressed from the minute we arrived. The hotel itself is situated in the historic heart of George Town, making it perfect for sightseeing and strolls around the city. The building is a renovated heritage site with only six rooms. Ours was huge, wonderfully lit and featured a spacious bathroom with full size bath. The service was impeccable - particularly from Sky, the Bar Manager - and we enjoyed having breakfast each day in the hotel's stylish restaurant. The owner and staff had clearly thought about every detail. A most memorable experience.

Our family (2 adults + 3 young adults, including 1 wheelchair user) had a thoroughly lovely stay at 88 Armenian in July 2024.
First of all, reservations are generally a little bit of a process for us because of our wheelchair accessibility requirements, but KC and Suet Chin were super responsive and helpful in providing us with accessibility information about the hotel and rooms (including specifically checking with us to confirm that entrances to room and bathrooms were in fact wide enough to fit our particular wheelchair), to allow us to make an informed and seamless booking.
Given where we were - in the heart of Georgetown and in a heritage building - the hotel accessibility features worked perfectly fine for us. There is a tall-ish kerb right in front of the hotel, but there is a kerb cut about 10 metres away that will allow wheelchairs to access the pavement and hotel. There is also a lift in the hotel that conveniently services all guest floors. The wheelchair user was in the Revere Suite, which was an accessible room (not all are, so please check in advance), and we had no issues with in-room navigation, including accessing the bathroom and toilet. There are no steps to enter the room, and only a sloped step to the bathroom and toilet.
As many other reviewers have already stated, the hotel could not be better located if you are interested in enjoying Georgetown. Not unnaturally, given the location, parking can be a bit of a challenge during the day (there is no on-site parking), but becomes much easier in the evenings - we had no issues finding parking spaces close to the hotel after 7.00pm.
Service from management and staff at the 88 Armenian was also exceptional. Everyone was always happy to chat, offer advice, answer any questions we had, and generally attend to our every need!
Thank you to all at 88 Armenian, and in particular KC, Suet Chin, Anna and Belinda for making our stay such a pleasant and memorable one.

We spent a week at 88 Amernian in December 2019-January 2020 and absolutely loved our stay.
The rooms are beautifully furnished and very spacious. We were in the Rodin Suite, and the large bathroom faced out onto the street. The bath tub is great, and the Bath Butler offered by the hotel is wonderful.
We were so well looked after - a special shout out to Skye.
Breakfast at the hotel was wonderful - fruit, croissants and great choices on the menu. The granola was a particular favourite.
The hotel is also conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown, close to lots of other attractions.
Thank you so much to the wonderful staff at the 88 Armenian!

From the moment I stepped in to the moment I left I enjoyed the hospitality and professionalism of the whole team at 88 Armenian.
The service was impeccable, the room was stunning, the bath butler service was the absolute highlight and the breakfasts provided were so delicious with a different theme each day.
I would highly recommend this hotel and a special shout out to KC who was so attentive to my needs and gave incredible recommendations of things to do in the city. I will definitely come back next time!

This is the absolute best place to stay in GeorgeTown Penang. After doing walking tours of the city, we concluded that Armenian Street is one of the most charming, beautiful and strategically located streets to be on. This accommodation is a stones throw away from the best food, sights and everything else you might need. The room was immaculately clean and comfortable. The staff was incredibly accommodating and gracious. They would prepare a well thought out and scrumptious breakfast for us every morning. Belinda made our stay extra special by suggesting only the best places to go, according to what we were looking for. If you are looking for a home away from home, a caring staff and a well curated experience in George Town, this is the place for you!
