We stayed one lovely night at this new boutique hotel at the suggestion of the General Manager as this is the sister hotel to Noordin Mews. This chic and urbane hotel in the midst of the historic quarter is a breath of fresh air. With a focus on modern amenities and a more exclusive and western bent, it is an ideal location to discover Georgetown. Even though busy during the day with tourist this lovely spot is quiet and romantic at night. Attention to detail including exclusive amenities, in room tablets, a Nespresso machine, excellent treats and a fantastic morning breakfast made our stay very comfortable. We did not try the bath menu and certainly will at our next visit. However, what sets this place apart is the restaurant on the main floor. It comes equipped with a full bar that includes innovative cocktails using local botanicals and inspired by local flavours it opens up a journey of new culinary exploration. Try the Galangal Gin from the Penangite Eiling Lim’s distillery who is known internationally for her exclusive whisky selections and private bottling. Also specific to this location is the chance to explore chocolates made exclusively for his hotel using cocoa grown in Pahang formed into treats inspired by Nyonya flavours such as Ondeh Ondeh, Pulut Hitam and soy sauce caramel. When it comes to cocktails and chocolate, I’m a bit of a snob with my high expectations but this hotel/bar blew my mind.

We had a pleasure to stay over the weekend at 88 Armenian boutique hotel. This is situated in the heart of the city with lots of art and restaurants in the short walking distance. The manager of the hotel Car-vi is a true asset to the property. She is hardworking, knowledgeable and highly resourceful once you get to talk to her. She gave us lots of tips on what to see and do in Penang.
The rooms were spacious and decorated with designer touches, which I loved. The mini bar 's snacks and coffee were offered for free and of high quality.
To me the best part was the breakfast at the hotel. The young English chef would make anyone smile after dining at his restaurant. Everything from coffee to eggs was great.
Great stay over all.

This hotel is exceptional.

I find it hard to believe that this is not higher in the TripAdvisor list. It is as good as any top 5* hotel and I’m glad I somehow caught wind of it at the last moment.

The hotel is absolutely stunning - the exterior and interiors are exquisite. We stayed at the loft suite and wow. The fittings and decor are top end and classy. Smart tv, smart panel lightings, beautiful bathtub, Aesop toiletries..I could just go on. An extremely unique lift as well. The lobby area, which doubles up as a restaurant oozes class. It helps that it’s located right smack in Armenian Street with tonnes of cafes and eateries around. The hotel also smells great.

I’ve been to Four Seasons, Ritz, Shangs, Kempinskis and what not and I dare say the service here matches with those. Because the hotel only has a handful of rooms, the service seems extremely personalised. I booked my trip just a day before, and Suet Chin and Anna were already on WhatsApp moments after I booked to communicate with me. Suet Chin gave us an extremely warm welcome sharing with us with a lot of info about the area than most other hotel staff do. I generally dislike welcome drinks almost anywhere but when I had a sip, I had to finish it. Anna and team also surprised us with a cake and gift as June was both our 10th anniversary and our child’s birthday month. Not just a slice, a hugeeee cake!

Prior to visiting, I was considering Eastern and Oriental but wow, absolutely 0 regrets about my decision. Yes it’s a small hotel with not many facilities but it’s gorgeous. Some blogger or influencer has to get this hotel reviewed and shared with others. It deserves more than 44 reviews on tripadvisor.

5 stars without a doubt. Will definitely recommend.

To the many lovely boutique hotels in Georgetown, 88 Armenian is a new jewel to add to the collection.
Converted from a burnt out shop house, the owner and architect has spared no expense to make it stand out.
Pros: Good sized rooms. Great beds, linens, pillows. Stand alone bath tubs with a bath butler menu. Spacious bathrooms with double sinks and large shower stalls. Lovely lighting. Super efficient air cons. Good breakfast sets.
Superb staff service.
Good location.
Cons:
Super efficient aircon. It's really cold and setting it higher only sees it revert to the coldest setting when the electronic lights settings are changed ( several times a day and night). Noise seal could be improved as people in the corridors and downstairs dining can be heard. This didn't bother us too much after 10pm as the hotel is quiet by then.
Hangers in the Bartholey Suite are difficult to use as they are fixed into a high hanger that vertically challenged will have difficulty reaching. We also stayed in the Mackenzie Suite which we liked.

We loved our stay at 88 Armenian. Only 6 rooms truly made for a boutique experience. The rooms are contemporary and beautiful but what really stood out was the level of service. Top-notch! Three highlights here: 1. A bath butler! 2. Excellent restaurant & Bar and 3. Location, location, location.

We really enjoyed our stay at Armenian88. From the beginning till the end we were very well taken care of and treated with the utmost care. It's a pleasant luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Don't forget to ask for a bath butler who will prepare a relaxing bath for you. We absolutely loved our stay.

My family and I had the pleasure of visiting the 88 Armenian on our recent trip to Penang. Tucked away in the residential lane of the Armenian Street, bustling with lively shops and iconic street art, it is close enough to keep you entertained yet quiet enough to give you the peace and privacy you want at the end of the day.
The rooms and bathrooms were immaculately clean and extremely spacious. We were in awe with the attention to detail that had gone into personalised bathrobes and toiletries.
Enough cannot be said about the associates who made our stay the best it could have been. Extremely helpful, polite and patient, they helped us plan our stay in Penang and made sure we were always comfortable at the hotel.
From the luxury of the hotel to the diligence of the associates, I have no doubt you feel leave Penang feeling pampered and rested. There is no better place to stay than the 88 Armenian.
