Just wanted to say thank you to Yeng Keng Hotel for my present and comfortable stay. The front desk people where extremely friendly and helpful, ample suggestions for food and experiences, especially the trainee V. My room 212 was well decorated in style of the hotel, firm but comfortable bed, clean facilities and the pool good size and temperature for relaxing in. The breakfast was a mixture of western eggs, sausages, baked beans, as well as Asian noodles, curry, banana leaf wrapped rice with sambal and egg, and traditional desserts, yoghurt and bananas or grapes. Good coffee and juice. Location is great, right near the action, with some music noise at night but nothing to be bothered by, and easy to get late night street food minutes from the door. The hotel itself is beautiful and we'll maintained. I stayed 5 nights, which included a couple of complimentary car transfers and a discount at the restaurant. This was a lovely addition and certainly isn't offered at other places I stayed. Thank you for the parting postcard gifts. I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
Where to start, it’s perfect very calm and relaxing. The staff go out of their way to accommodate guests and make them feel not only welcome but at home. Incredibly well located for sightseeing around Georgetown with most attractions within walking distance from the hotel. This heritage mansion has been renovated to a very high standard. Our room Chulia Suite 201 was beautiful and relaxing.

I stayed for 2 weeks in this wonderful hotel in a great building in the heritage area of George Town and can thoroughly recommend it. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and beautifully decorated. And spotless. Very efficient cleaning service. Nice, spacious pool. The location is perfect for walking to restaurants, bars and all the sites in the heritage area. Great wifi. The staff are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed 4 nights at this beautifully restored old ‘gentleman’s club’ in Chulia Street, Georgetown, Penang. There is so much history about this building & its origins. There are old photographs, furniture & pieces of memorabilia everywhere. We stayed in a ground floor courtyard room that was quite small, but very comfortable & immaculately cleaned everyday. Excellent wifi & Netflix & air conditioning. There is a small fridge, tea & coffee & daily water bottles. The staff are extremely friendly & helpful & love to spend time chatting if you wish. There is a beautiful pool area with sun lounges & chairs & tables undercover in an attractive garden area. There is also many quiet sitting areas inside to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The choices for the breakfast buffett were limited, but definitely adequate. We also had dinner in the restaurant one night & it was delicious. Yeng Keng is in the heart of the dining & street art area of town & an easy walk to markets, clan jetties & other local attractions. The choice for food options is endless. Lots of street food, local home kitchens & more upmarket restaurants & a few bars. There is a 7Eleven not far away for other bits & pieces. Would definitely recommend whilst staying in Georgetown.

We had a 4 night stay at the Yeng Keng Hotel in a spacious and beautifully furnished room. The hotel is centrally located in historic old Georgetown, walking distance to cafes, restaurants and street hawker stalls. The pool is a welcome relief from the heat at the end of the day. The staff were exceptional and super friendly with Yeoh, Ian, Vee and Raj offering great assistance during our stay. We will stay here on future Penang visits.

We stayed at Yeng Keng for 4 nights, originally requesting an upper level quiet room when we booked 6 months in advance. The positives: There is s secure car park ant the rear of the hotel with security. Location of the hotel is very good with easy access to the better cafes and restaurants in George Town. The rooms are pretty well set up and in keeping with the colonial theme of the historic building. Opportunities for improvement: Breakfast was uninspiring and cold with limited selection. You can start breakfast at 0730 which is a bit late when wanting to get an early start. The room we were given opened directly onto the reception area, being noisey and lacking privacy. You had to be careful opening our door as it gave the reception area (and people in it) full view of one of us in bed. The other side of our room was next to the kitchen, so clanking of kitchen items early morning and late evening. Thumping from the floor above another source of noise. When we queried the room allocation we were told ‘that’s what you booked’. We asked if we could have a quieter room and we were told we could move the next day into a larger room for another $90 AUD approx per day. Asked them for other options but apparently there were none. We noticed during our stay there were other empty room options. Better training of staff, particularly for those in reception would be another opportunity for improvement. They struggled with our initial concerns and offered poor and unreasonable options.

Located in the famous old Chulia Street of George Town. the Yeng keng Hotel offers tourists a cosy stay in a refurbished old merchant mansion. Exquisitely renovated, the hotel captures the old world charm in its furnishings and decorations. Rooms are on the small side but there is sufficient room for two persons to move around comfortably. Staff members are friendly and helpful, with time for all guests. Breakfast served in the adjoining restaurant can be improved with more choices. and proper presentation. However, this restaurant serves authentic and delicious traditional nonya food for dinner. It is a short walking distance from Chowrasta market, Moh Teng Pheow Nonya kueh, the famous Teochew Chendol stall. L Kitchen Asian fusion food, Tok Tok Mee . In the night the street bustles with numerous drinking cafes and hawker stalls. We had a memorable 4 day 3 night stay. Congratulations to the manager, Miss Yeoh for running this delightful hotel

Love love love everything about this hotel! I love museums and every day felt like I was living in a mansion museum! First off, the staff were great. They were very accommodating from the start. I called them a day before to see if they had any family suites available for my parents and I. Given last minute booking, they had a room available for 2 of the 3 nights I was looking for but offered separate rooms for the last night with a discount. I don't have enough words to describe the staff here. They're so welcoming and seem really happy working here! Location is ideal and walkable. Near Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion - a hotel I almost booked and am thankful I found Yeng Keng instead (much cleaner and private and quiet in comparison!). Another reason why we chose this place is the private parking lot. Swimming pool was a plus! Love the antique furniture and how instagrammable the place was! The free breakfast was something we looked forward to - Malaysian food from nearby vendors if you're too tired to walk out to find something to eat. Really can't think of a negative for this hotel other than the lock on my door was a little bit stiff but an issue that was promptly addressed by the staff. I wasn't worried since the place seemed very safe. If you're looking for a warm, clean and private cosy stay, look no further and book this hotel!

A little gem in the heart of George Town. Easy flat walk to most of the tourist sites. Stayed in the Yeng Keng Suite with a separate living area and balcony. Everything clean and tidy. All staff make you feel welcome. Yeoh went over and above to make sure our stay was a memorable one. Full of old-world charm but with modern conveniences. Up there with the best. Highly recommended.

I have stayed in many hotels, but the staff in this one were the most pleasant, friendly and helpful I have ever come across. Every person who worked at this hotel smiled and said good morning and asked if we needed anything, every day. What great customer service. I did not get the names of people, but I do remember Raj and the other young lady on the reception who always had a welcoming smile. When we arrived we were immediately given a nice drink and welcomed. The lady at the barrier offered to carry our luggage, but I said I was ok to carry it. Everyone was so helpful. What a wonderful place. We had a few lovely conversations with the manager who was also so pleasant and helpful, suggesting places to visit. A young guy came and cleaned our room every day and again he always had a smile on his face. This hotel is very historic and had a traditional décor inside and outside. The rooms are lovely and cool with both air conditioning and a fan. There was a free breakfast every day in the restaurant and it was possible to have anything you wanted. My favourite part of this hotel was the swimming pool which I used every day which was situated in the courtyard surrounded by plants and shrubs. The Yeng Keng Hotel is situated right in the centre of Penang and is ideal if you want to walk to places. I also used the Grab taxes a few times which are really cheap. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Thank you to everyone who works there and made our stay so memorable. (Ashley & Shun).
