Welcome to LOOP on Leith! Loop On Leith George Town Penang Hotel by Compass Hospitality We’re a new, trendy and stylish boutique hotel located just beside George Town, Penang’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our name comes from our connection to the city. That means being in a super central location, where you can get to many places on foot without spending on Grab cars or taxis. Take the renowned blue Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (as featured in the Crazy Rich Asians movie), it’s practically a three-minute stroll away. What about cafés, restaurants and charming kopitiams? There’s one directly across the street, and many like it nearby. Likewise, heritage sites, museums and speciality shops… the exploration of George Town begins at LOOP. This hotel is in a good spot near the top of Chulia Street so great for exploring the Heritage area on foot. The building has just been re-furbished from top to bottom and is in excellent condition. At the present time it is not serving any food.

The rooms are small and the one I had did not even have a desk to write at or use a laptop but, that apart it was fully equipped with coffee and tea making and lots of usb sockets for charging your devices. The bathroom was great with an overhead rain shower and a hand shower with several adjustments. Water pressure was good. The room was immaculately serviced each day. The only problem (perhaps temporary) was that the published TV channels did not work - no English speaking channels, no movies. I only paid about MR 70 a night so excellent value for money.

All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. The hotel is adjacent to the Red Garden, a great evening time eating spot.

I am a frequent traveler to Penang. Stayed at many hotels in Penang but this hotel is the best hotel i've ever stayed in.. For approximately 32 usd, you will get a nice and spacious room comparable to hotels in the same price range or even to higher pricey hotels.. Its has everything even the coffee maker, toiletries, etc. Bathtoom are also quite big and separates the toilet and bath. In house entertainment also quite good. News channel like BBC, Sports and Fox Movies are also included.. Hotel are also newly built and launched in early november 2019. This was my second visit and can't wait to stay here again. I came to penang for the foods and historical values. This hotels are at the centre of it and all within walking distances.. You won't be dissapointed..

Had a good and relaxing stay at Loop On Leith by Compass Hospitality over the weekend. As the hotel is still relatively new, there is not much that I can complaint about in terms of the amenities, cleanliness and also the room itself. The service at the hotel is also 👌.

The staffs at the hotel were also very friendly and helpful during my stay at the hotel and they were able to provide me with recommendations on where to eat.

Location wise, this hotel is also very convenient as it's located within walking distance to some of the tourist attractions here in Penang. As a result, I ended up having to walk some of the tourist attractions and save up on transportation as well.

Will definitely come back and also recommend this hotel to friends as well.

Booked a stay with them for 5 days 4 nights before Christmas. We booked a Family room but it was unavailable so we were given a connecting rooms (no complains on that). However, the check in process took very long and there were only one room available with strong smoking smell in the rooms even though it's a non-smoking hotel. We waited for a couple of hours for them to clean up the other connecting room and for them to send up the receipt which they eventually never did (Please do remind them to get the receipt, otherwise if they do not recognize you, you will never get your deposit back). We were also accused by the staff for the smoking in the hotel room when all of us were non-smokers. The second day, we were told that the rooms that we're staying were scheduled for maintenance and we have to move rooms again. In addition, we couldn't even get a good night rest because the sound proofing of the rooms is very bad so if you're staying near the mosque you will probably be woken up during their morning prayer or even by the housekeeping. The breakfast selection is ok only and the service was very slow even non-peak.

Overall, it's quite a bad experience as the staff were all quite rude except for the Hotel Manager who i only manage to see him on my last day.

A beautiful new hotel located on the Leith street, with a great touch of art and tasteful decoration.
Staffs are very attentive and helpful, never failed to greet us everytime we walk past the lobby. Friendly front door staff that always help to open the door when we were entering or leaving the hotel, a service that you would not expect from a budget hotel.
Short distance walk to street food, and surrounded by heritage area.
We were fortunate to meet the local urban sketchers on the early sunday morning. They also have an art exhibition in the hotel gallery.
Basic amenities provided but no bedroom slippers. There is no wardrobe as well and you might need to open up the luggage on the small couch.
The only negative point is the dirty stained floor in the hotel room with clear shoe marking when we first arrived. But problem was quickly solved when the worker came to clean up the floor immediately.
Travelers should also be aware of the noise from the street and also the singing from the nearby Red garden food court that can go up past midnight.

We made a very last minute, spontaneous booking on the hotel site and booked 1 night in one of their Prestige rooms on the 3rd floor.

The receptionist by the name of NATASHA was very kind, approachable and helpful provided me many useful information. Prior to our booking, she made sure the room with beautiful street of Leith view. From the moment we came in, she have done a very splendid job. She is a credit to this hotel. Thank you Natasha.

Overall, we were very satisfied with every aspect of the hotel. The hotel is very clean throughout, and our room was spacious with everything that we needed. The hotel is finely situated in the middle of the city of Georgetown and near to numerous restaurants, and mini market, and within easy walking distance. We would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

Will we be back? YES We would definitely stay there again!

Unfriendly unhelpful and rude ! We arrived after travelling from Thailand, Tillett or thillet was so happy to tell us that Agoda had cancelled our room ?!
We were frantic and was looking for 15 mins to try and find a hotel , he just watched and said nothing , then my husband asked “do you have any rooms ?” To which he replied yes you can have the same room but it will now cost you more ?!
Why did he not say that immediately to save us the stress??
He then gave us our key card to which we got in the lift and attempted 3 times to go to floor 3 ( watched by home , everytime the lift door opened ) I said I don’t think your lift work he said “ you need to tap room card , good security?! Again thanks for telling us !
I asked him about laundry service , places to go ect he was extremely unhelpful and very unwelcoming!
We. Added on breakfast which was awful no milk for coffee or tea just powder , everything was for Asians , noodles fried rice ect , so asked to cancel next 3 days as it wasn’t suitable for us , he said I will get back to you - he didn’t ?!!!
So paid for 5 breakfast x 2 and didn’t eat a thing !
Go to another hotel

...for food hunting, shopping and souvenirs, and so many more. This may be our fourth stay over the past two years, and every stay has been fantastic. We’ll keep coming back for another comfortable holiday.

First of all, the room is just the right size for a cozy stay. No extra amenities are required. The basics such as a safe, tv with Netflix and YouTube, hair dryer and a few sachets of coffee, an aircond that cools the room and hot water for shower, with a modern design. Just right for a comfortable stay. This time, we stayed for six nights.

Why six nights? We discovered that there are too many extremely appealing restaurants and food stalls to get a bite everyday. All within walking distance.

We just left our car in the basement for seven days and we walked a lot. For farther attractions, we booked GRAB, easy!

A fantastic hotel. Even when it is situated next door to a mosque, we hardly hear anything.

This will be our home whenever we need to drop by in Penang for some comfort food.

And that was what we wanted - its strategic location.

If we wanted the beach, we would have stayed close to it. If we wanted to shop, we could have stayed close to or in the same mall. But we decided that we’ll prefer to do a lot of walking and eating, so the best choice is Loop.

For the price, the room is a fantastic bargain. Air-cond and heater were working perfectly. The bed was comfortable and everything in the room, though simple, was just right for a room well designed for a comfy stay. We had a room that got a view, so thoughtful.

The staff was super helpful. Kevin, Durga, even the hotel manager, Janet, gave us a lot of help from booking to recommending great restaurants in the surrounding area. Thams up for their excellent customers service.

We’ll be back. Definitely. This was our second time staying here. We’re looking forward to our third booking soon.
