Got ripped off. 75r for a share bathroom private room. Clean sheets and pillows to be expected but this place is run down! Check the photos out! If it was way cheaper I would stay longer but 1 night will do. On a positive note Staff are nice and helpful.

I have stayed here 3 times, in 3 different types of room: A ground floor air-con en-suite room (75RM), A first floor double bed air-con room(45RM) and a second floor twin bed fan room(35RM). Each time I have stayed, what I have paid has been reflected in the quality of the accommodation (as you would expect!). Each time, however, the...

I barely got into the guesthouse before one of the employees started yelling at me. I merely asked politely to see the dorm room before paying for two beds, but he wouldn't allow me, I asked why not, but then he started yelling that I was a bad man because I was not okay with a few fotografs, which looked...

This guesthouse was decently priced, the bathrooms were clean and the people were very helpful. The rooms were very basic but big. There was wifi and two computers in the main area, and they did our laundry within a day for 5 RM a KG. the location was great, but the night market across the street and the thin walls...

The Crystal Guesthouse is conveniently located in the center of Chinatown near most of the sights. The downside is, that it is quite noisy. The staff is friendly, but sleepy or sleeping most of the time. Like most of the Guesthouses/Hotels in Penang, the Crystal Guesthouse can arrange trips to Cameron Highlands, the National Park etc. and help you with...

On one of the main backpacker rows, many minibuses drop off on this street. The location is fairly central to all of the major attractions and shopping centers, and has a fairly busy food stall scene at night. Our first room was quite subpar, windowless, with a lumpy mattress, poor air circulation, and one harsh fluorescent light. After we asked...

I stayed one night, 18 Rm but changed the hostel because of the reason, that they can't offer me a locker. It's so important to have your belongings in a safe place while traveling the way we backpacker do. So I found another place. nice dorm with air con , beds are ok, clean and also the showers and toilets.

We stayed here for one night and could not wait to get out! The room smelt of stake cigarette smoke, the carpet looked like it hadn't had a proper clean in about 20 years and all the springs were poking through the old mattress. The bathrooms were reasonably clean and the staff quite helpful and friendly but there are nicer...

“the bed nearest the a/c in small a/c dorm room wifi unlikely to work until they get stronger router or add a router/repeater to that area.”

“If you are in the dorm in room 33, DO NOT choose bed 'i' as none of the fans actually blow on that bed so it got a bit hot at night.”

“Bring your own blanket, wall adapter, and towel. Private rooms on the street side might be a bit noisy. The dorm room on street side was ok. A/C is cold in dorm room.”

“Most rooms do not have any windows except those facing the street. These may be a bit noisy because traffic goes all night. Decide if you prefer a fan or airconditioning. Fan rooms are a few ringgit cheaper. There are some rooms downstairs. Most rooms do not have attached bathrooms, however the communal showers are cleaned very frequently and have hot water.”
