Beautiful traditional local Penang style hôtel in a great location near many local attractions and restaurants. Spacious rooms with nice balconies. Nice spa. Simple but yummy breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. For sure we will go back

Got one of the transfer suites. The staff were great, they were very helpful. However, they were helping us fix the toilet flush, which did not work on multiple occasions. Upon entering the room, which was noticeably more run down than what was shown in the pictures, my partner and I heard loud creaking sounds from the room above, followed by the stomping of feet and running sounds. The first night was unbearably uncomfortable as the creaking noises made it hard to fall asleep. The toilet was decent, but the shower floor had an anti-slip mat that had holes from long term use, which revealed a dirty patch underneath. Location wise, hotel Penaga is good.

1. Great location and boutique hotel 2. Basic cleanliness of this hotel is zero. 3. Hair all over around from the previous guest and so disgusting when we check in 4. Tea cup with red lipstick was nicely place it back without washed or the maid wash with eyes closed 5. We were serve with the foaming half boil eggs. Ended up my partner had bad diarrhoea since Monday. I didn’t had it because the eggs look ugly. It’s surprise to learn the chef doesn’t know how to cook proper soft bowl eggs. We did not report it because no way the hotel will take any responsibility . And that is only food we had Please see the photo and how chef prepared eggs and serve

The hotel looks all right but in actual fact on closer observation many of the things are rundown and there are no proper maintenance of the facilities. There are stain which looks like algae on the toilet floor and the bathroom door handle is moldy. Wifi is not working and the room is not sound proof at all at least in the room we are staying (H22). Our room is directly opposite the motor repair shop and near the main road and you can hear the noise from the motor and passing cars till the wee hours of the night. The floor outside the balcony is very slippery after rain and the room shoes provided will cause you to slip more easily as they are of poor quality. It is totally unacceptable in my view and this has to be one of the worst hotel I ever stayed.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel which was recommended by a friend from Penang. We took the Transfer Suite. We stayed from 10/5-11/5. Both days the morning front desk personnel was great. Check in was only suppose to be at 3pm but he noticed that my wife and I was so tired, he tried to rush the room for us. He also gave us a lot so suggestions to do around Georgetown. But I’m quite disappointed with the night shift front desk personnel who was quite rude to my wife. We too come from a hotel background. I am not going to belittle that person on social media but if management would like to know more, please check my details we were staying at Transfer Suite No.2 during the dates mentioned. You may call me to find out more. Overall, we were tremendously happy with the great

The antique decoration is beautiful but still keep it minimal, the ambiance very comfy ,and the balcony and jacuzzi is a plus point i can relax and enjoy the facility. The location was convenient too, walking distance to many place we wanted to go. It was very comfortable. The staffs were superb. Remember to visit their restaurant, they serve good pasta.

first time. Didn't think it was full house (altho they said so) — they could only offer me 1st floor (of 3) Bed mattress firm, linen ok clean. Towels so so. Phone cord tend to fall out. TV only 1 pathetic English channel; poor reception. Room spacious, with "antique" furniture. Bathroom with jacuzzi.. hot water pressure & volume outstripped cold.. couldn't mix well.. was scalding. The shower was worst.. pressure pathetic. Shower glass panel stained old. Comes morning you'll never miss your alarm. Front road traffic roars with motorcycles & cars that will ensure you're up before the sun's all popped. Back again? Nope

My friend and I had to check out at midnight because the room was just too awful to stay in. Firstly, it was a different room from the one we booked. Secondly, the room had a musty smell. Thirdly, the towel and bedsheets had the smell of damp too. Fourthly, there were bugs on the bed.

This is not our first stay at Penaga, we stayed in the main building, and then in the extension/Transfer. First experience was great :-) ; second (few month ago) was catastrophic. :-( I have to say that this time, it was great again. :-) I guess few month ago, we really had a pretty crappy bedroom which was not well-maintained. This stay, we had a great room at Transfer, quiet and well-maintained. Very pretty indeed as usual, very traditional deco, which I love. Comfy bed too. Thank you for this stay, which gave us the drive... to come again!!! ;-)
