A truly lovely hotel. Lovely and friendly staff, a beautiful room, a nice big balcony, a wonderful housekeeper, and a nice and varied breakfast.

The wifi worked well. We were right in the middle of all the action we needed. The bus station was a 10 to 15-minute walk. What I would call 'The Old Town', was no longer than 10 minutes.

The housekeeping was excellent. No matter how early we returned, the room was left spick and span. Breakfast had a good amount of tables and we were never crowded. The selection was balanced between, Malaysian and Western food.

The hotel had a truly nice atmosphere and the decor kept with its Colonial origins. The staff were always friendly and I would make special mention of our housekeeper and the lady who worked in the Breakfast Room. We were in Hutton 22 on the 2nd floor. Our only reservation would be, that the balcony can get hot in the afternoon (beautiful in the evening, however) when the sun is shining. We have no complaints, however as we were offered either side of the hotel, so it was our fault!

Would highly recommend and at a very reasonable price.

We were in a transfer room. Beautiful old and large rooms but very run down and poorly maintained. It really needed a good deep clean as well. Broken seats on balcony and all furniture very old. We were also very disappointed by the limited choice a poor quality of the breakfast. No fresh juice, only watered down orange drink, hot drinks from machines and apart from one item it was the same every day. This was obviously a beautiful hotel once but it has truly been neglected and it is such a shame.

I stayed here for four nights. Situated very centrally and easy walking distance of Chulia Street. Also close to main bus routes. My room was excellent - could have done with a bit of tidying up, some mould in the shower, also on part of the ceiling. However a huge bed, jacuzzi bath and separate shower (not great). Separate lounging area and huge TV and roof terrace. Breakfast was good but limited however the kitchen would cook eggs to order. They need a better choice of bread - only plain sliced white bread (boring!).

I’ll be back!

The rooms are pleasantly well decorated. We booked 4 rooms and 1 of the room had several issues.
Air cond was leaking, TV was not working, bathroom walls were moldy, picture frame moldy. Very disgusting. Despite informing the staff twice, the manager did not reach out to us. Very unfortunate.

first time. Didn't think it was full house (altho they said so) — they could only offer me 1st floor (of 3)

Bed mattress firm, linen ok clean. Towels so so. Phone cord tend to fall out. TV only 1 pathetic English channel; poor reception. Room spacious, with "antique" furniture. Bathroom with jacuzzi.. hot water pressure & volume outstripped cold.. couldn't mix well.. was scalding. The shower was worst.. pressure pathetic. Shower glass panel stained old.

Comes morning you'll never miss your alarm. Front road traffic roars with motorcycles & cars that will ensure you're up before the sun's all popped.

Back again? Nope

The antique decoration is beautiful but still keep it minimal, the ambiance very comfy ,and the balcony and jacuzzi is a plus point i can relax and enjoy the facility.
The location was convenient too, walking distance to many place we wanted to go.

It was very comfortable. The staffs were superb. Remember to visit their restaurant, they serve good pasta.

My friend and I had to check out at midnight because the room was just too awful to stay in. Firstly, it was a different room from the one we booked. Secondly, the room had a musty smell. Thirdly, the towel and bedsheets had the smell of damp too. Fourthly, there were bugs on the bed.

First, I had three complaints about the facilities.
The TV didn't work, the internet was unstable, and the valuables box was broken and unusable.
Other than that, I had no complaints. In fact, it's the best accommodation I've stayed at in Penang so far.
The jacuzzi in the room, the view from the balcony, the furnishings in the room, the stained glass, I couldn't help but exclaim how cute it was when I stepped into the room after checking in. (Just like the photo.)
All the staff were polite and no one left a bad impression.
I was so relaxed in the room that I ended up relaxing too much. (Maybe it was a good thing that the TV didn't work?)
I liked the atmosphere of the hotel so much that I've already made a reservation for my next stay.

Hotel Panama is well situated in Georgetown and is unique in its concept as a combination of rooms and houses.

While quite comfortable, the hotel requires some work for improvement. The staff, while friendly, lack customer service skills which made our initial interaction less than great.

The house we stayed in was clean and charming. However, it needed a little maintenance, particularly the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. Somewhat disappointingly, we booked the house with a queen and two single beds, but our house has two queens meaning our boys had to share a bed.

Breakfast was nice, but basic.

Overall, the charm of the property makes it a nice place to stay, but it could be so much better.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel which was recommended by a friend from Penang. We took the Transfer Suite. We stayed from 10/5-11/5. Both days the morning front desk personnel was great.

Check in was only suppose to be at 3pm but he noticed that my wife and I was so tired, he tried to rush the room for us. He also gave us a lot so suggestions to do around Georgetown. But I’m quite disappointed with the night shift front desk personnel who was quite rude to my wife. We too come from a hotel background. I am not going to belittle that person on social media but if management would like to know more, please check my details we were staying at Transfer Suite No.2 during the dates mentioned. You may call me to find out more.

Overall, we were tremendously happy with the great service and the cleanliness of the room and obviously it’s value for money. We will definitely come back whenever we’re in Penang. #mysecondhome
