The hotel is in a good location - it is 5 minutes by car to Gurney Paragon and walking distance to Komtar. Rooms are of decent size and with a great view. Team Members need more training especially product training and need to learn how to recognize Elite Members while addressing them by the right Salutation. Unfortunate part was the Gin Library when team members judged and did not accorded me Elite Service for Welcome Drink, serving me Orange Juice instead of Alcoholic beverages (but realised that after asking me). Breakfast Spread was decent and managed to have authentic Malaysian Cuisine. Overall, still a decent stay.

Stay there during Ramadhan, it was a good choice. They served very generous portion of sahur, which is very thoughtful. Didn’t have the chance to use the facilities due to business trip. But I would like to come back as the rooms is still new and hospitality is good

I visited again for a 5 nights stay despite a train wreck experience previously, with an intention to watch them fail. I left with a mixed feelings... I had minimal interaction with staffs. Those interacted with... some are experience and some are very blur. By "minimal" i meant the service they provide are minimal as well. Door staffs don't take initiative to assist guests with bags, or help with car doors. On my last day I have another room booking, went to counter to checkin after breakfast. The staff said hotel is full and just turned me away ask me to come back later. Instead of checkin in first (paper works) and take initiative to call me once it's ready. On my previous stay, the GM's attempt for recovery service was a catastrophe and left a very bad taste in my mouth. For this stay, I would expect him to come and have a more personal conversation. Despite staying for 5 nights (3 working day excluding weekends as the GM is very concern for his work-life balance. kept emphasizing that he replied my during his off office hours) I did not even see his shadow anywhere, not even at the lobby. Normally for a lapsed experience, the FO manager or GM would take initiative to handle next stay personally, upgrade to a suite, or extend amenities, or F&B credit. None was offered. Room comfort is just okay, nothing exceptional. I find it disgusting that linens/towels are place on a bench under the sink so closely to the floor. Ventilation is rather bad for a 4/5 star hotel. Hence, the other reviews about musky moldy smell. Toilet is rather disgusting as there are mold everywhere. Any clean tissue would come out disgustingly green and orange. It's a safety hazard. No lounge so the hotel offers "evening drinks at Gin Library". As generous as it sounds... alcoholic drink choices are very limited - only beer and rose wine (2 servings per pax). Rose wine is rather bad as I had a headache and upset stomach after drinking.. which is a common sign of bad alcohol. Same confusion over dining discount among staffs, I was told GIn Library is included for discount upon checkin; the staff said overwise. which i'm too fed up (from previous stay) to request them to check with Front Office For breakfast downstairs.. food quality is borderline subpar. Salad is unamusing, no olive oil / balsamic vinegar at salad bar, when i requested my salad was passed around at least 3 staffs before coming back with OO/Balsamic on the side. Breakfast at Gin Library is an interesting venue but as expected food is very limited Even after 5-6 months after my complain, I still stumbled on the same issues. Almost RM400 per night rate is definitely overvalued for this property. I guess members are only coming because of the nights. Do explore other hotels, keep your options open

I had book a total of 4 rooms for 2 nights each and i understand from the front office staff, Guna, and Mark (should be front office manager) during our phone conversation, that as a Marriot Bonvoy member I was only entitle to claim 2 night stays, which is only 1 room instead of 3 room (as per my understanding). Furthermore explain by Mark for the point credited to my member should be 10 points for every USD1 spend, whereas my total bill is RM2,464 (total taxable amount as per invoice), therefore i believe i should entitle for 5,600 points (RM2,464 / 4.40(average exchange rate) x 10) instead of 1,410 based on his explanation. Whereas during my stay, i notice the kettle in the room i was staying is dirty and one of the pillow had a bad smell which a complaint was made on the spot and resolve during the stay.

I returned here because of good experience in my previous stay. Just less than 4 months apart this hotel gave me completely opposite experience. 1. Water Leaking Faucet. Water dripped all the way from sink to towel storage and floor 2. I requested 6 bottles of drinking water 2 days in advanced and received confirmation from Courtyard on the same day. I didn't request to change room because my previous good experience, I would expect everything would solved by the time I back to the hotel (i was away from 630pm to 12am) but I was WRONG. Not even single request was fulfilled. Even simple drinking water request. Marriott should have better quality control. 1. Quality of service 2. Quality of room How could the housekeeping not noticed the leaking faucet? Despite it's just courtyard, not other premium hotels under Marriott, the BASIC MAINTENANCE is still required, especially after being pointer out by an in-house guest! Either Courtyard in-house guest is totally not important to Marriott or this is the normal to Courtyard/Marriott.

There is no upgrade/ no recognition for Marriott Platinum member, that is the biggest disappointment as that was the main reason to book this hotel despite being more expensive than other hotels and lower rating than other equivalent hotels. I have booked a king guest room and on the day I checked in, there is larger guest room king available although suite room is fully booked. I asked the reception whether I have an upgrade and she told lie and said I have been upgraded to a deluxe room (despite no deluxe room in the hotel), so I trusted her. Upon check in to the room, I realised I was not upgraded and just got the room I booked, guest king room. I didn't bother to complain, but it is really unacceptable for the receiption staff to tell lie, if you don't want to provide an upgrade, just tell the truth and don't tell lie. Breakfast - average selection but good enough for me. Maybe this is a business hotel, there are already quite a number of tables occupied on a weekday at 6.45am which is unusual in other hotels. Cleanliness - Maybe this hotel is new so it looks clean to me, and we had a comfortable stay. Planitum perks - They have free drinks in the bar for members. Also have a US10 credit for F&B which is quite good Pool - Quite small but nice pool. Nice view too

My wife and I stayed at the Courtyard Penang in May. The hotel is really nice. Our room was large. Breakfast was quite nice. The staff was outstanding, with Isabel and Melody being the best of a very good bunch. The swimming pool was lovely and rarely crowded. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

This hotel can do a lot better by prioritizing a couple of things. We were a group of business travelers that booked 5 rooms with this hotel. On top of that, we paid for a conference room for 3 days at this hotel. I'm a platinum elite member. When I checked in, they didn't upgrade me at all, citing that they are pretty booked up. That's fine, however, they gave me a smoky room and didn't really find me a solution. For the amount of business we're bringing in to this hotel, I certainly feel that they can do a lot better prioritizing those that bring in a lot of revenue to the hotel. I could have booked another hotel here for cheaper but decided to stick to Marriott brand due to my status. That didn't really pan out. Rest assured, I will think twice the next time we make our next business trip here which is going to be quite frequent. The management ought to do better here....
