The room is really tiny and many have no "real" windows; the sheets were not clean and the bathroom was disgusting (plus the fact that you shower over the toilet in a tiny space). The mattress was the worse with springs going into your back. The staff was not friendly and it was quite noisy. No top sheet.
I would suggest that you walk up and down that street full of backpacker places and find something else for a bettre price...we did!!
Wifi did work though!...but you sit on your bed doing emails as there is no space anywhere, certainly not downstairs (since it is a 24h mini supermarket).

This is basically a two star hotel with air conditioned rooms and attached bathrooms.Clean and tidy.At the ground floor is a 24 hour convienience store quite well stocked with drinks, toileteries, stationary and tid bits. The motel is walking distance about 5-10 minute slow walk from the jetty where you land if you are taking a ferry from the mainland. There are lots of restaurents and bars a short walk away.It is next to Little India area and you have an array of Indian restaurents if you have a taste for spice. The shops in the street are centuries old and served as first stop for Indian workers and professionals arriving from india during the colonial era of the British. The Fort Cornwallis where Sir Francis Light founded Penand in 1796 I think is a short walk away.Try the unique Penang trishaws to get to the famous Gurney Drive where you have excellent array of hawker stalls next to the Esplanade
facing the mainland and the adjacent Straits of Malacca.

Located above a 24 hour convenient store, this hotel offers the basic amenities and even offers an attached bathroom but is totally undone by the utterly wretched quality of the mattresses. It feels like you're sleeping on a bag of nails with springs jutting into flesh in every position you assume. On top of that, and you, are a pair of old tiny ratty blankets. Add on a touch pf late night traffic and other loud patrons and you have a recipe for a terrible nights sleep.
