This hotel is utterly disappointing – it has the tendency to 1) miss your booking, and 2) lie to you on their mistakes, and 3) make you pay for their mistakes. We made 2 separate bookings a week in advance of our travel date for our guests in Penang. During our late check-in for our guests on the actual travel date, we were told by the receptionist that they only managed to reserve 1 out of 2 of our room bookings. Upon investigating further, it turns out that the booking confirmation by our agent was indeed delivered to them via email but they have missed out our 2nd room booking. The receptionist was rude and unprofessional – he was unable to provide a solution and instead pushed the blame on his colleague(s) in the earlier shifts. The only solution he had was to offer an alternate shared dormitory room that cost around MYR22 a night, or to have our guest check in at another sister hotel located somewhere else in Penang. But that was not what we have paid for at the first place, and it’s a little too late in the night to be having a detour. We have specifically chosen this hotel due to its convenient location. Furthermore, we do not want our guests to be bunking with strangers! As for our remaining guests, we were forced to book a new hotel for them next door during at the 11th hour and incur steep additional costs due to Red Inn Cabana’s negligence. We contacted our agent and made our request heard - to get a full refund for the missed booking and have Red Inn Cabana compensate our additional hotel booking costs due to their own mistakes. To our dismay, the hotel responded that it was not their fault and they will not compensate us for the latter – they claimed that the rooms were unavailable during the night of our stay due to “an air-conditioning breakdown”, and they had offered an alternate shared dormitory room which we have declined – my question is, why should we compromise for something that was not our fault, and why have they not informed us earlier of the air conditioning issue and that the rooms were unavailable? This hotel refused to even apologize nor admit it was their error, and make any fair compensation. Bottom line is, this hotel’s customer service is a joke. How does this hotel even qualify to be in the hospitality industry?

It was a nightmare staying in this hotel. The others reviews are so true, bad reviews go back to years before and I only blame myself for not researching enough before I booked this hotel. With the price and the nice photos that they put on website I almost felt like it’s a scam.

This place is awful, disgusting, broken down, and no one seems to bother to fix it. My room had a leaking aircon, broken bathroom door, mold all over the place, the common areas dusty and broken. The pictures they post must be stolen from some other hotel because are not the reality. All of that for 97 RM (20 euro). Do not book this place.

Basic accommodation next to red garden food court and tourist attractions. Room was a bit dirty, no hot water or toilet paper but you get what you pay for ! Shared space was clean and welcoming, staff friendly. Free breakfast consisted of fruit , toast and coffee/ tea.

I stayed there for 2 night. This hostel ocated in good location[ behide the chocolate shop, in case you can't find it] . The room and the common room was clean l. Staffs are very friendly. But the bathroom is pretty bad, there're no lock for shower room and the breakfast served late.

We are travelling for a few months and working on a tight budget so we don't expect the world when it comes to our hotels. However, you do expect not to be bitten by bugs in the bed and have screws sticking out of furniture. I'm not going to complain about the bed being hard as you get what you pay for and the apartment was clean apart from the creepy crawlies in the bed. But it really does need a refurb. If a child had got caught on the screws then it would be messy. The air con was very dirty, the walls are in need of a clean as well as paint. And the bathroom was pretty shoddy. The location is amazing and right next to some awesome food places. It is just a shame it was let down by all of these little problems. These photos tell the trust. Probably wouldn't recommend unless you were stuck for somewhere to find. I

I arrived the hostel with a heavy luggage. the staff was so helpful to help me out with it (even I didn't ask for it). The hostel is really spacious and clean. The toilet is and common area are very clean, I saw the staff keeps cleaning them. The wifi is good anywhere at the hostel - this is something l like most at this place. The only withdraw thing of this hostel is location as it's quite hard to look for it without asking. The hostel inside a chocolate company (I don't remember exactly the company name). My room 201, the water from the AC is dropping and especially there is no pillow cover in the bed number 3.

Dont stay here. Its a very rundown hotel. Dont let pictures deceive you. Pictures do not match the condition of the hotel. BAD bed bugs bites received in room 204. Complained to them and they changed us to another room. The next room looked ok, however the still got bitten. Stayed for 2 nights. Worst stay ever.

The pictures in internet, I think, would have been taken when it newly opened. So it was totally different from the picture and the reality. When we reached, we couldn't find the building because it was hidden at the back of the Chocolate Factory. So parking is all of luck, where you can find and need parking coupon. No.2, when we reached, we thought, well it looks ok. But after we opened the door, tada, it's quite rundown, as in wooden floor with squeeky noise as you walk. Toilet wall paint peeling off everywhere. Plus point : aircond is functioning well Down point : mosquitoes too many. Only one PowerPoint for charging. Free breakfast. But it's slices of toast. Then need to wash your own dishes. All in all, for the price, it's quite average. Only awesome point, it's just a stone throw away from an awesome food court which opens at night and has a wide range of foooooooooooooooooood.

Stayed for 1 Night on June 2017, was interested in this property when viewing picture of their room. the picture are a lie. the room is not like the picture at all. The front desk service is good however there is to many negative things in regards of the room. I did request for a non creaky bed, quiet room and clean toilet in special req section, and the room that I got did have a squeky bedframe, dirty toilet and the karaoke from next door is blasting at night.wearing earplug did not help at all. the paint on the wall inside the room is peeling off. toilet floor are super dirty and the toilet walls are full of yellowish/brown stain. staff seriously need to clean under the bed. its so dirty. I did want to complaint to front desk about the condition of the room but decide otherwise as I am only staying for a night. the management should do something about the room condition. its just sad. please read the reviews first before reserving a room. the picture looks amazing but the reality of the room is way below par.
