WHO ARE WE and WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN STAYING WITH US??*18 century straits eclectic pre war shoplot - YES!*Experience staying in a classic heritage shop in Penang - YES!*Clean and comfortable- YES! *The place is so new you can even smell the paint- YES!*Guaranteed the Funnest guesthouse on the island- SOOO YES!*Value for money- YES!*So near to the heritage attractions, you can see it- YES!*So near to Penang Hawker food, you can smell it- YES!*SUPER Easy to get here by bus- YES! YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!! :D We hope to having and seeing you real soon!Roommates Penang Guesthouse is housed in an 18th century refurbished ‘Straits Eclectic’ prewar shop lot centrally located within the core Heritage Zone of Georgetown, Penang. We are within walking distance to famous hawker food stalls like Chulia Street, Kimberly Street, shopping malls like Komtar, Prangin Mall and 1st Avenue as well as morning markets like Chowrasta Market. All the ‘MUST SEE’ Heritage attractions within Penang are located around the guesthouse and can be easily explored by foot or by bicycle. We also offer bicycles for rent for the convenience of our guests. Roommates Penang is definitely the ‘smallest’, ‘newest’ and ‘funnest’ (we made this word up!) guesthouse on the island. Although the exterior and certain sections of the guesthouse still retains its prewar features, we did cracked our brains to come up with a simplistic yet modern interior so that you can fully enjoy an open concept guesthouse that only has a land space of 530 ft2.

Lovely! Good location, its not located in front of main street so it get more peaceful and quiet at night, and walking distance to sightseeing place. Friendly reception uncles, good price for budget stay, comfy bed & not squeaky bunk bed come with curtain + light, power point, so you get a quality sleep & privacy, homely environment, towel +shower gel provided, light breakfast included. WIFI is fast too Go bars and street food at night by walking distance. :) I will choose roommates again. Good value. Definitely recommended.

Besides the very friendly man at the reception. This was my third visit to Pengang and decided to stay here again. Very good location. Peaceful and quiet. Comfy clean beds & showers. Helpful staff. Would highly recommend!

I stayed two nights and it was good value. My dorm bed was comfortable and spacious, also curtained off. However, the blanket I was provided with was noticeably dirty. Nice free breakfast and facilities. Close to local bars and restaurants. I would recommend this hostel to other budget travellers.

With dormitories, it's a hit and miss. Sometimes you find your heaven and sometimes you get sentenced to hell. This time it waa absolute heaven. The beds were comfy, clean, spacious, has curtains for privacy, own outlets for charging and kept comfortably cool all the time. Hot showers on the shared bathroom, free breakfast and towels... oh! And the wifi is fast. Do I need to say more? Oh yes of course. The owners are super friendly and helpful. The location is smack right near Little India and Chinatown.

The hostel is cosy, in an old house but well cared for. Location is quiet but close to bars, cafés and markets. Beds are nice, everyone has her own lights and electricity. The only thing that irritated me was the weird smell - got used to it after a while though.

Such a cute hostel with the friendliest staff! Their English wasn't great but they made sure we had everything we needed and the rooms were spacious and most importantly had air con! Roommates is cheaper than the Tipsy Tiger (where you can still go to party just a few metres away) but you can also escape the noise if you're looking to relax. Everything was clean and the toast provided for breakfast was perfect. The location was also great as it was located right in Georgetown. Definitely would stay again!

It's a nice, clean and cheap hostel. Beds are comfortable and have curtains, electricity jack and a lamp. The breakfast consist of 2 toasts and 2 boiled eggs that you make yourself, plus free tea/coffee. Wifi is really good in the whole building and there's also one computer that you can borrow. Not super social, but I would stay here again. Location is excellent!

Guy at the desk was rude and didn't even acknowledge we were there after 5 minutes of waiting, asked to book a room as it showed availability on line and when we asked the guy asked how long we're staying for, we said one night, he smiled at us and shook his head no. Very very rude, we'll take ourselves elsewhere!

My friend and I spent 5 night here in George Town and really enjoyed it ! The beds are really comfortable, with curtains to isolate yourself when you want to sleep. The rooms and the bathrooms were very clean. The staff was very nice and gave us good informations about the island. The only thing to change is the smell in the room : it is weird...

The rooms were standard bunks, the front desk staff were enthusiastic and helpful and the location was great! Would have been nice to have more than two showers and the breakfast was basic (though the option to throw some eggs in the rice cooker to boil for 7-8 minutes was a nice touch).
