I have a very good stay for 4 days at Red Inn Court. The owners are very friendly and always giving smile everytime we meet. Check in process was so easy, even though I didn't get any towel. When check in, you'll be asked for MYR 30 for room deposit. Plus: (+) Hostel is close to Rapid Penang bus stop. From the airport you can get down at Little India (Lebuh Chulia). From this spot or Penang Muzium you can go travel around Penang. It's very close to the hostel, for approximately 5 minutes walking. (+) For you who are Muslim, this hostel is very close to Kapitan Keling Mosque. You can clearly hear adzan (prayer calling) from this hostel. (+) You can find a lot of local cuisine in the surroundings. There are so many food choices you can take to eat. You're advisable to eat Nasi Kandar, Koay Teow, Penang Laksa, Hokkien Mee, Putu Mayong, Pasembur, and Popiah. They're the best quality food in town. (+) This hostel provides you a lot of tourist brochures inside their lobby. Free to take. You can freely take Penang Tourist Map, Penang Tourism Calendar of Events, Marking Georgetown, Penang Street Food, and so many more. By reading those references, I guarantee you wouldn't be lost in Penang. (+) This hostel offers its vintage style, precisely Chinese-vintage-style. I love it. There are so many rooms inside. (+) They serve you free simple breakfast, like bread, sandwich, fruits, etc. Free flow tea and coffee. (+) They have room service, so for you who stay more than one night, don't be worried, they'll clean your room, your bed, your blanket, etc. (+) The room is equipped with fan and air conditioner. It's completely sufficient to make you feel comfortable. (+) Because of its location, you'll be easy to find halal foods nearby. It's also strategic to go everywhere: State Court, KOMTAR, State Museum, Esplanade, City Hall, market, etc. Minus: (-) You maybe find the comments that the receptionist girl are rude. But I don't think so. She's clearly given me helps. I think that she's just "polite", not friendly. But the owners are very friendly. You can hire the motorcycle. For you who come from Indonesia or Brunei, the Madame is able to speak Malay/Bahasa. It will help you so much. Don't be hesitant to talk to her. (-) You will not find a large locker. There is a small locker behind your bed. It's small, not too large, but for me it's enough to place your precious belongings. It can only be opened by your own key so don't worry if your possessions can be stolen or not. (-) They have enough shared bathrooms, but there is no hot water inside. By the way, the bathrooms are clean. (-) When you firstly enter your room, you maybe find that it is a little humid/moist inside. I think it is because of air conditioning system. The room is small but the air conditioner is so powerful. (-) Personally, they didn't give me a towel (even though I brought mine). But they did give towels to every guest and I didn't get it. It's like a little unfair, subjectively. My rate: 8/10. Overall I had a very good stay here. Even though there are so many better hostel nearby, this hostel still offers you appropriate price and comfotable room to stay. For you who'd be traveling here and choose this hostel to stay, please kindly book through Traveloka or Tiket.com app. You would find much cheaper price there than the other app or booking sites. For many considerations, maybe I'll decide to come back to this hostel next time. Thank you, Red Inn Court!

The hostel is located in a really good location where the tourist sights, eating places, transportation and nightlife (Chulia Street) around Georgetown are within walking distance. AC is good and cold. Limited parking space nearby.Free Wifi is good. The beds were well made, solid so didn't move, the storage cupboards were useful and the pillow was nice and soft. The bunk beds comes with reading light & locked storage but too small to put my normal backpack. No curtains on the beds. Rain shower but less water pressure makes the hot water real hot. No elevator to reach second floor. Staff are helpful and friendly. Deposit of RM30 is require prior to getting a bed. Breakfast is coffeee, tea, toast & jam from 8.30am to 10.30am. No fruits onsite. Free flow of filter water, coffee & tea on the entire day. Was disgusted when some local guys occupied room #205 smoked in shared bathroom in the morning. The whole shared bathroom is unbreathable.

I like the location. The staff is very helpful and only enjoys tea, coffee on the ground floor (breakfast). Room cleanliness is good. Outside the bathroom, all floors use stairs. It is recommended for those who want to visit live in the city of Georgetown. Small minus only in the unavailability of drinking water & hot water kettle and LED-TV not working! :(

We had booked for two nights but ended uo staying for five because we liked the town and the Red Inn Court so much. Alice, the very friendly and helpful receptionist, checked us in and gave us information about where to visit in Georgetown. She also let us extend our booking at the last minute which was great. The double room 101 has aircon and is not far from the shared showers (the water heated by the recycled heat from the air conditioners) and bathrooms. The showers are custom made and the facilities were always clean. The architectural conversion is very interesting for those who know a bit about the history of the town. Thank you also to the guy from reception who helped us book our bus to KL, even when it was quite late. Hope the kittens there do well, we'll be sur to check in next time we visit Penang!

The hostel is very nice and clean but the rooms are reaaaaally small. And by really small I mean you could barely move or put your luggage anywhere and on the top of that just add that there is no window what makes you feel really trapped. The common area is very nice and there is a TV with Netflix and movies on it :) The staff is very friendly and attentive and the location is very good for moving around by foot and discover this amazing city.

Dear guest, Thank you so much for your feedback! Actually, a majority of our rooms are medium to large sized for a heritage property like ours. We are sorry that you got one of the small rooms that are in the minority. We hope that you stay with us again, and we will be glad to accommodate you in one of the larger rooms upon request. Thank you! :)

The check-in process was smooth, the receptionist Elli and the Pakistani guy (I forgot to ask his name) were both super helpful. They helped me plan my day tours around Penang and Georgetown. The property is conveniently located near loads of restaurants and a very short walk away from the UNESCO site. Free drinking water refills and hot water in the showers. Breakfast was toast and jam. I think I got bitten by bedbugs while I was there. I just didn't know then that the red marks on my skin and all the itching through the night was because of them, or I would have brought it to the notice of the staff immediately.

This place was very cheap and worth the money. Stayed in a 6 bed dorm, the bunk bed was a little tricky to get up and the air con wasn't working great but it didn't bother me too much. Location was good, right next to little India and also the main walking street. I stayed for 1 night just to figure out Penang and see what was around.

I stayed in the "deluxe room" the double bed only had a single sheet and single blanket on it which was extremely old, the sheet also had a big rip in the middle of it. The T.V in the room didn't even work! There is mold in basically all the walls including the hall ways and bathroom. The Bathroom is extremely dirty the taps in the sinks don't work properly. The sink was also blocked with hair! The Wi-Fi doesn't work at all if you're on the second floor and constantly drops out everywhere else. Only positive is the bed and pillows are very comfy.
