My family and I went for Breakfast Buffet to celebrate our youngest brother birthday. It was a very happy and pleasant breakfast. Everyone in the F&B service and F&B production team were so friendly. We are treated like we are the only one table guest in the restaurant. They are indeed 5-star hotel table service. Each of our seat table under liner has the food of the breakfast explanation to us. It was knowledgeable and easy for us to view. We were also provided a lovely service from the bartender with different ideas of mixing morning booster for all the guests to drink. One of my favourite blended drinks is ABC, which consists of Apple, Beetroot and Carrot blend. They have lots of hot and cold food options to choose from. They even have different varieties of pastries in a small amount. I'm surprise to see they have a counter that the hotel mix their own sauces and they too planted their own fresh vegetables. They even have fresh honeycomb that we can happily consume. Their live station also has a few variants such as noodles, flatbread, egg station, waffle, crepe station and fresh press sugarcane station. The chefs are friendly. Their noodles station soup is freshly made after a turnover time. Hence this way all the guests manage to enjoy freshly made noodle soup. I believe their breakfast is different on fortnightly basis. Everybody looks very happy with their job. In their pastry section they provide different types of fruit compote for the guest to choose from. There were too many choices till I don't know which to eat and try from. The breakfast buffet charges is slight higher than 4-star hotel but its worth of our money for excellent food options and services. Even though I didn't have a chance to stay in the hotel room but I believe their quality of service is as excellent as the restaurant. The only I would to comment is there are some interns that is working in restaurant. Hopefully everyone is clear with the SOP that what to do. Somehow, I can observe that different intern and staff give different services to the guests. Although it didn't trouble the guests but if everyone is doing the same thing and clear in a same page it would be perfect already. Since I arrive early in the morning to the hotel, I manage to have some conversation with the receptionist and she is very friendly to assist me upon my request. I'm happy that night shift staff and morning shift staff handover are detailed and crystal. They are very attentive. My family and I would gladly return again to Marriott Penang for all of our special occasions. We would be happy to spread around the excellent food and service that staffs provided to the guests.

We had a lovely and pleasant couple of nights at Penang Marriott Hotel. Staff were polite and on-the-ball, offering help at every turn. Rooms were beautiful and homely. After a quick and pleasant check in process, we were escorted to the lifts. Once we carded up to our floor, and into our room, we could relax. Rooms were were nicely decorated and well thought out. A large toilet area beside the room door with a bath tub, single sink, separate shower and unenclosed toilet with bidet wash. Lots of amenities next to the sink. I felt that another sink would have been better served, but the bath tub occupied the standing area in front of the vanity sink area. The unenclosed toilet also meant that No.2 smells could seep into the bedroom. The bathroom has sliding doors for entry and another sliding door to separate it from the bedroom. We had a King bed in our room, and this was super comfortable with two long, large pillows per person. A nice quilt completed the bed. Light switches on both sides of the bed, plus charging points for your mobile devices. There is also a clock with a charging point on top provided. Along the entry way, a small cupboard houses the iron and ironing board. Then there are open hanging space with drawers at the bottom. Quality wooden clothes hangers are provided. Terry robes are hung here, ready to be worn. In the drawers, you'll find the safe, and also slippers and hotel laundry related items. Further down is a high table where a kettle is provided. Various tea bag flavours are housed in the drawer, together with cups. There is an empty, working bar fridge under this area. A large TV with local TV stations as well as some cable international news and movie channels are on tap to provide you with entertainment. Alternatively, you can also connect to your Netflix account on the TV. Wifi is available in the hotel and speed is quite decent. There are two couches at the end, near the windows. One can watch the TV from here, while your partner snoozes in the other couch. A large round table and a chair is also provided. Housekeeping is top-notch, with the housekeepers being polite and asking if there is anything else they can add to the room to make our stay more comfortable. Service in the coffee shop downstairs was also superb. Very polite, efficient, and makes a great cup of coffee! The hotel has an automated parking system with a number plate reading system. Once we checked in, we informed the from desk of our car number, and this is registered in the system for the duration of our stay. Parking was complimentary. We also like that the lifts takes us up directly to our rooms. My son and I used the hotel gym, and this very well equipped. Many stand-alone weights machines, cardio machines, bar bells and kettle bells. One can definitely get a good workout here. Outside the hotel, there are many hawker joints to try, and opposite the hotel is the new Gurney broad walk. Two blocks up from the hotel is Pulau Tikus market where you can experience local penang food as well as a wet market. Overall a great stay here. Would definitely be back!

The Marriot Penang was amazing due mainly to their extraordinary staff. I have stayed in E&O, the Prestige hotel as well as the Shanghai La and this hotel was hands down the best. I took my parents William and Annie here to stay with me as it was their first time to Penang and boy did you guys help make their first experience in this Island very memorable. Rooms were clean and spacious and our access to the M club was excellent. All staff in this club need to be commended. All attentive and warm. Special standout was Areef. This guy is truly an asset to the hotel. My mum is still raving about him. Heard her coughing and made her a honey lemon tea!!. The food choice and standard at the Marriot Penang cannot be faulted. It will certainly be my families choice of hotel whenever we are in Penang.

I was very looking forward for a great stay in the latest Marriot property in Penang. After a long hours' drive, upon check in, i had a new staff member (Micheal) checking me in, on my observation he is very new and definitely requires more training on the check in guest process before he could hands on in front desk alone. I asked another staff as an elite member, usually entitle for room upgrade or welcome bonus. The front desk manager immediately mentioned we do not offer these in Marriot! ! I requested for 2 extra room keys card, she then mentioned you don't need that, am sorry to say but since when front desk especially a 5-star luxury hotel reject guest for an extra room key card! Well, as soon i arrived my room, i haven't place my bags down immediately received a call from the front desk manager ( Ms Shalini) to come down to verify my credit card to their system (Just because they forgot to key in my credit card number after i had settled down my bill)! I had an unpleasant 10 mins stay with this hotel and of course i requested to check out at the same time! This could be a beautiful hotel however the staff here really ruin everything!

Penang Marriott is the second tallest building in Penang. The hardware is decent but it has much to improve to be truly five star. Door to my suite wouldn’t shut fully. One of the reading lights in my bedroom would automatically turn on and off with air conditioning turning off and on even though it was not set on automatic mode👻. Food in club lounge and breakfast was decent but lacked variety day to day. I asked for a piece of roti canai to be halved and was aghast at the kitchen stuff picking it up with his ungloved bare hands😱. Hotel staff rang doorbell to pass me a notice on earth hour when it could be slipped under door disturbing my rest😔. There was no wine glasses in bedroom. Turndown service happened on days 1 and 3 but not day 2. We had lunch at their coffee house. Prawns in my pasta were over cooked. My family friend felt the nasi bryani was plain and not tasty with a rating score 4/10.

Yes, it’s a Marriott but not the generic tired US version, this is an Asian Marriott, so it’s actually nice. Lol. The location, smack dab in the center of Gurney Drive, directly across the street from the first phase of the new public park, and within a 10 minute walk of tons of shopping and eating outlets is superb. A nice bonus is it’s within a 20 minute walk of the hawker stalls which is an excellent option for fun and cheap eats. Do note that the hawker stalls are perhaps best visited on the weekends as all are open and the crowd is much more lively. The Good: Hotel is beautiful Staff (too many to list out individually are excellent) Amenities (pool and gym in particular) are perfect. The pool, which faces out over Gurney Drive is well positioned. Breakfast has an abundance of choices and had perhaps the best chocolate croissant I can ever recall eating. The service in the M Club is next level. Tiger beers, ftw. The Bad: I did not receive the room I paid for which was a direct sea view. Instead I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite on the side of the hotel. Still a partial sea view but I def did not need or really even want the extra space. I would have much preferred to receive the room I booked. Some of the room elements are curious at best. Nespresso coffee pods on offer but the accompanying cups are excessively sized for the amount of coffee dispensed. They need espresso sized cups as that’s what is dispensed. The shower products are refillable dispensers attached to the shower wall but with poor adhesive (see pics). The phone still requires a template to tell you what button does what (see pic). The mini bar replenishment was spotty. The pool, while lovely, needs shade umbrellas for the chaise loungers on the top level. There are shade umbrellas for the seating on the lower level but these are significantly smaller seats that you will not enjoy sitting in for long. I never saw anyone using that seating. I used an outside laundry service (as I had a good amount of laundry to do and did not want to pay inflated hotel prices) and someone manning the hotel driveway was incredibly rude to the laundry rep who dropped off my freshly laundered clothes and insulted their vehicle (something along the lines of it was not nice enough to spend 2 minutes in front of the hotel entrance…), forcing me to apologize on behalf of the hotel. I don’t know who that was nor do I care but if you are rude to a vendor I chose to use, by extension you are creating an issue for me. Summary: All told, way more good than bad, and nothing that the hotel can’t easily remedy should they choose to do so. I’ll be back for sure. Cheers!
