Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Best value for the money stay at the heart of Georgetown. Reception was attentive and friendly. The room was modern, very clean and has a nice sea view. It also has a welcome addition of a ceiling fan which is something i wonder why more hotels dun include in their rooms…thumbs up! Breakfast was delicious with a big selection of western and local food. For those who love their nasi lemak and chinese porridge, this is the place for them. Location is superb. Walking distance to many local eateries. For those who drive, there is ample parking space and complimentary parking was also provided. The reception asked whether i drove and gave me a complimentary parking slip…again thumbs up Looking forward to stay here again when i next visit Penang :)

The service at this hotel is excellent. We have been enjoying the promotion of RM 88 per night, and the service given to us is as good as the normal rack rate. The hotel maintains the service given to all patron of the hotel and we are honored to be their guests repeatedly.
The best part of this hotel is the food outlets around the area. Don't miss out on the famous Air Nyior Tingkap (Coconut water), Tokua Rendang (friend tofu), chow rasta market where you can get most of the delicacies Penang has to offer.
Due to Covid-19, we have been enjoying ordering food from various outlets in Penang that we love delivered by GrabFood like Harry Potter Tomato Rice, Hameediyah restaurant, kapitan restaurant and many more.
Thank you Cititel for maintaining your service level, although the beach is far away, the view from your room is soothing and the fan installed in the room is an extra mention.

We read from the reviews that some of the rooms had been refurbished. As such, when booking, we had requested for refurbished room and to our delight, we had received a seaview refurbished room. View was great! Staffs were approachable and friendly and checkin and checkout were fast. Room was spacious and toilet was clean. Wifi was strong. Pool was a bit small but it was ok and comes with a small jacuzzi area. Do note that there is no kids pool, however, they had set up a small inflatable pool. What's great is that the hotel had setup a section at the reception for free flow cold drinks for hotel guests which is really cool especially in the hot weather. .There is also a coffee machine where you can buy coffee for RM 5. The reception area always smells nice and there are many chairs for you to relax. Many eating places within the area. Komtar and Chowrasta are around 10 mins walk away and the beach area is also around 15-20 mins walk. The famous Prata transfer road is also nearby. We didnt take the hotel breakfast so can't comment on that. Grab from airport to hotel at night was RM 22. Overall it was an enjoyable stayed.

Knowing all rooms being refurbished I am putting up a stay. My last was between 10-15 years ago, it was a pleasant one too.
This time is no different and still the carries its charms. Warm welcome at the front desk (Carmenn, you are fantastic!), swift check in process and a wonderful smile. First impression, you got me.
The room, one word, detailed and comfy from the tiniest plug points to the bed. Ok, the water pressure to flush is a bit low but, heck, not a big deal. Oh ya, a courtesy call from one Ms Lim to the room ensuring all is in place.
Slept soundly after switching between channels from foreign news to cable movies and sports on Astro and Vision Four.
Coffee making with Nescafe and tea bags, a hair dryer plus the toiletries essentials eg. toothbrush and paste, shower cap and the basic cleansers.
Breakfast spread is commendable from local to Western and even Japanese! Soba, sushi, chawan mushi. The egg station, noodle bar and coffee machines with real fresh to grind beans.
Will I return? You bet! I only have good words for this Cititel.

Loved my stay here! Beautiful, classy hotel. Spacious reception area. Early check in was possible as well as the room I requested - midway up with a view of the sea. Also upon extending, no inconvenience, and got to stay in the same room. Big, clean, simple rooms. Comfortable bed. Tv, wifi, mini bar area with fridge, ironing board, safe, air conditioning, toiletries and slippers. 3 restaurants on the property, small shops, a lounge and function rooms. Good location, shops and restaurants nearby. Swimming pool, gym and sauna available, and spa. The service is exceptional! Very attentive, friendly and professional staff. From check in to check out. Unfortunately I didn't get any of their names, but the check in staff were super. Plus I was sick for part of my stay, they made sure I was comfortable. The only thing, I couldn't find a plug point near the bed to charge my phone. I absolutely recommend this hotel, for product and service. And would definitely stay here again if in Georgetown. My family of 9 pax had dinner at Main Street cafe on Sat 9th Jul (we didn’t stay in the hotel). Lovely ambience, amazing service by the staffs. Ms Chester made us feel at home, she and her team made sure our plates were cleared timely while the head chef was regularly checking to ensure we enjoyed the food. Prices were reasonable and there was a wide spread of food including Chinese, Japanese and seafood on ice, to name a few. We really loved the food and environment and hope to come back again soonest!

The minute I got down from my grab car, the hotel staffs were there to receive my bags and even took our bags to the room. The check in and check out was a smooth process. The room is spacious and equipped with all the facilities.
The housekeeping staffs were helpful too and friendly. They always kept our rooms clean. The room service is good too.
The hotel is very near to the famous nasi kandar Line Clear and Chowrasta market.
I will definately stay here when I come back to Penang again.
To all the hotel staffs, keep up the good work and thank you for keeping the hotel sanitised and keeping everyone safe.

This is a gem of a hotel. My checkin was friendly & efficient. I loved the drinks station in the lobby (try the nutmeg). My room was a decent size and well appointed. The Hotel breakfast was incredible - so many choices. What made this hotel stand out for me was the staff. Every single staff member from lobby to housekeeping always stopped and said a pleasant hello. In particular I should mention Mr Zabidi in the lobby and Mr Kelvin in the breakfast room. Both are excellent.

We stayed for 3 days 2 nights. Checked in was smooth at 2.00pm. Our room's shower head and kettle were broken, we called the receptionist and they replaced it with another one immediately. The team also entertained our request for extra pillow and mineral water. Service is 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. The room is clean and comfy. We also have a sea view. For breakfast, it is marvellous, has a variety of foods from nasi lemak and freshly cooked roti canai to sushi and also ice cream. Location wise is great, just 5 mins walk to Hameediyah and Ais Tingkap.

It has been a few years since the last time I was at Cititel. The return visit was well worth it.
Quite simply the room was quite good, as was the food. On this trip, I took advantage of the breakfast in the Main Street Cafe and I enjoyed both the variety and it was quite enjoyable.
The Citi Lounge on the second floor was a quiet gem. Not many people were in there, but it was a nice, comfortable place to have a drink in the evening. Quite different from the rest of the area, which was fairly busy, despite being over the Chinese New Year.
