Our stay at Noordin Mews was outstanding in every way. The shared spaces of the old shophouse are exquisitely renovated and the modern rooms are squeaky clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is perfect, slightly removed from the tourist trap around Armenian Street, but close enough to the center to be able to walk everywhere. The neighborhood is actually quite hip, with plenty places to eat and have a drink. The cool Hin Bus Depot cultural center is just blocks away. The breakfast is delicious and there are new options every morning. The staff is absolutely great, and goes out of their way to make your stay special. They helped us book transfers to the airport, get tables at restaurants and gave us pro tips about where to go and what to do. The plunge pool is such a great perk in Penang's sticky heat. We travelled with two kids and they had a great time. I would highly recommend Noordin Mews. It's honestly one of the best, most genuine hotel experiences we've ever had.
The hotel is a renovated early 1900s shophouse, so space is limited, as would be expected in a heritage building of its type. Rooms are close to each other, and at times you may hear other guests arriving/leaving, swimming in the pool, or chatting, although we personally never felt that privacy was an issue. Our children made friends with many of the other children staying at the hotel and were very sad to leave, though people seeking complete intimacy and 7 star luxury should perhaps look elsewhere.

Wonderful. Amazing little place, great vibes, lovely staff, friendly, really good a la carte breakfast. The location is about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the centre but it’s nice walking around and wasn’t an issue when we went out for dinner. There is a mall nearby so you can easily get stuff if you need it.
The only negative I have isn’t really an issue. More is feedback. The housekeeping would always reset our room each day. So if we had found the right position for the shower temperature, it would be changed. If we preferred to put the bath at in one area, it would be changed. If we hung out some clothes to dry in an area near the fan to dry, they would be moved back. I was keeping a water bottle all trip to refill and when leaving I wrapped it up around my trousers on the sofa so they would know not to throw away, but even then, they folded my trousers and threw away the bottle. So the feedback is, please don’t disturb how people have left their living space within reason. I’ve never had this at a hotel before so it was odd. Otherwise, this wasn’t an issue so I can’t recommend enough.

Noordin Mews is excellent and we loved the unique independent charm and the care the staff give to the hotel and its guests. The ‘standard’ rooms around the pool are luxurious with all mod-cons, but retaining a heritage feel. (With the day bed you could definitely squeeze a family of 3 in there, perhaps a young family of four). The official family room (we stayed in No.1) was above reception and whilst beautiful, was more characterful and slightly less luxurious. I also found it a little noisy from passing rasping motorbikes on occasion, but I’m a light sleeper and no one else complained! Plus they provided ear plugs which helped. The pool is gorgeous, clean and welcoming and perfect at any time of day. It was always in use. The breakfasts were large and tasty and whilst they don’t have an onsite restaurant or cafe, they serve drinks (including alcohol) and also allow you to bring food in to eat at their tables. (Which, when we did this, they kindly plates it all up and waited on us like we’d paid them for it!) It is a dog friendly hotel - we’ve noticed a lot of small-dog-in-a-wheely-bag-love from people in Malaysia and some guests had theirs. However, the dogs were well behaved (if their owners attention to them a little odd!!) and they’re not allowed in the cafe / table areas. The staff we always on hand and they provided some lovely touches like treats on our pillows to mark both Christmas and New Year. They also provided complimentary wine and cheese to see in New Year and neighbouring fireworks. We stayed for 5 nights, which we felt 1 or 2 days too long (not the hotel; but the size and heat of Georgetown). But we found lots to do in the end - Noordin Mews is the perfect location to explore the area on foot. Also as a base to go further afield, we did by going to Penang Hill and Escape activity park. I’d absolutely recommend this place - for individuals, couples or families. (Oh and small-dog-in-wheely-bag-owners).

I have been so happy to stay there; it's a cultural experience to stay in a colonial-style building that is so beautiful. We are a family of 3 people. The room is quite spacious and clean, and the service is impeccable. Yun Li booked the restaurant for us; it says that the restaurant's waiting list is quite long. Usually, it takes weeks. Thanks, Yun Li, again; we enjoyed a unique Malay cousin experience. The location is within walking distance from the center, with Uber costs of 15-20 ringgit from the center. This small, friendly, well-cared hotel is worth staying in for money and experience.

Overal experience 5/10 Came with my cats Given room just infront of swimming pool I asked for their best room -prolly i should have ask the most secluded room to get some privacy Its really noisy n irritating with the sounds of people chatting outside (room not soubd proof) ,sounds of staff doing plating n cutlery from their cafe as my room just infront of the swimming pool n cafe, cant get away from the Dog’s bark.Price for one night for their basic room is almost four to five stars hotelrate but toothbrush n toohpaste is not readily available and daily room makeup bed also not a routine unless u asked for both-initially when i ask to replace the bedding the staff seems hesistant as if its not routine, but they do vacuum the room if asked. Not many plug point only at the mirror so quite a hassle if u tech savvy…non near the bed. Internet wifi available but keeps disconnect bothers me while watching netflix and u have to keep reenter the password to reconnect . Celcome line almost nil and digi line at subpar level. Water heater not readily available in room but u have to ask from their kitchen but they provide coffee machine in the room.
The good side: very welcoming staff upon arrival. Help carry my pets. Provide welcome drinks n welcome treats for my pets. Location is good near town n easily foodgrab foodpanda n hotel brings the nonya baba heritage style breakfast too short just 2 hours from 8am to 10 am, not many choice just alacarte. Swimming pool good as open till 10 pm. Act the hotel is nice but maybe need upgrde the service and not too compact not to my taste as no privacy.i suggest hotel make it compulsary for dog owners to keep their dog on harness at all times as some of the dog wonder around even smell guest and try fo enter other guest room, what if they bite, who will b responsible for the treatment better be safe than sorry im okay with dogs just dont cross other guest boundary i nvr bring my cats outside of the room as i dont want it to bother other guess so i would hope other guest to respect my boundaries No room dining provide. I just wish the amenities and service upgraded to 4-5 starts level as the charge per nite is higher than 3 stars level. They only serve breakfast and the said there is team time but never provide, prolly have to inform them. I may repeat stay if no others pet friendly hotel available.

We as a family (with teenage son) stayed for 3 nights in this delightful boutique hotel. This place is ideal for people that want to have a cultural experience but with all the modern comforts of beautiful rooms, bathrooms and food. We loved taking to the staff which shared the history. My husband’s grandad was born just 2 houses away so we were knee to find out about the history of the place and how people lived. Half of the hotel were stables where wealthy Penangites kept their horses, rickshaws and so on. Dogs are welcome which was also a big plus for us. It creates a very homey atmosphere and all the dogs were so well behaved and clean. We loved it and would highly recommend it.

The Noordin Mews was certainly one of the best hotels we met during our trip to Southeast Asia. Starting with the extensive and professional guest care provided by the entire Noordin Mews team. This included a warm welcome where we were informed about George Town regarding street art, the relevant neighbourhoods to go out and the restaurants with all their special offers and food. A perfect connection to the heritage philosophy in George Town was lived through the stylish architecture and furnishings of the hotel. The breakfast selection was excellent. Here you had the choice from classic breakfast to typical Penang-style breakfast. It had to be ordered the night before, and was then served at the table on the cozy terrace. Highly recommended is the White Coffee. After the exhausting but impressive highlights of George-Town, a very elegant and large room to relax was waiting for us. Also wonderful was the cooling in the small pool.

We stayed 3 nights at the Noordin Mews to visit Penang Island. The general feeling was that we would come home when we came back from our excursions on the island. It is a very cozy little setting, with pretty colonial style rooms arranged on 2 levels around a swimming pool very pleasant in the January heat. But above all the staff makes you feel at home, in a completely natural and adequate way. Constant smiles without the automatic side that it can sometimes have in Asia, a considerate attitude all subtlety so that we feel good and do not miss out on a service they can offer, wise advice and adapted to each client to enjoy the city. Choose without hesitation if you like boutique hotels.

Near perfection, as far as lovely boutique hotels goes! We tremendously enjoyed our 5-night stay at Noordin Mews in October 2024 as a family holiday. The hotel struck the perfect balance between being conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown (with Kimberly and Armenian street precincts both an easy walk away) while tucked away in a quiet street away from traffic noises.
Our room (Noordin Double Room) was just the right size for our family, with the day bed made into a second bed for our kid to sleep on. Kudos to housekeeping team for ALWAYS keeping our room tidy and fresh (with daily housekeeping and nightly turndown services).
The hotel provided simple but tasty and hearty breakfast. The menu consists of a few permanent selections plus a daily choice of Asian style breakfast. Given our length of stay, the menu did eventually become too routine but we were happy with the quality of the food all the same.
The hotel ground, while compact in size, is kept to the highest standards both in terms of cleanliness and state of repair. The pool provided a much needed respite from the heat after a day of walking about.
All in all, a truly wonderful and memorable stay. We would absolutely recommend Noordin Mews to anyone visiting Penang.
Thank you to everyone who at the hotel for making our stay a thoroughly enjoyable one!

We spent three nights here at the start of our holiday, it was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and the beds great with water and some snacks provided. The breakfasts were varied and substantial, the staff also are a credit to the hotel with nothing too much bother.
The location is OK within a 15-minute walk to most places with a few restaurants scattered around and a Seven-Eleven just round the corner.
