The hostel has a great location, but that it. The room was not clean, bedsheets unchanged and dirty.. Broken shower and toilet. Has to pay a locker at the reception, they don't provide it. No ac remote in the room, frozen room. The point is, the very bad management. The owner should take care of it. This place could be very good but so dirty...

Take my advise and don’t make the mistake I did. This the the ultimate catfish hostel. Looks nothing like the images you will see. Disgusting and dirty room (that is being polite). My foot went through a termite eaten floorboard. The staff (who we’re friendly) took us to our room which was still dirty from the previous user. He explained they just checked out, hardly believable. The bathroom covered in a stench of urine, mould and grime. Breakfast is disgracefully unhygienic, mouldy bread and dirt everywhere. Adding a 100RM deposit cost for keys.... it’s laughable and ludicrous. Without doubt the worst place I have ever stayed in, period. A positive is it’s location, good for walking to all the attractions and different districts. However...... Do Not Stay Here!

I was treated like a pervert and a criminal by the staff and two guests. They took my phone lying to me and one of the guests threatened to beat me when I asked my phone back. The staff did nothing for me and kept lying. I asked to call the police (I couldn't do it by myself without my phone) and the staff refused to do so.

I would love to rate Georgetown residences higher but due to a number of reasons I am unable to. Our first impressions of the hostel were great, free WiFi, free breakfast, spacious rooms and modern, fun decor. This all lived up to what was expected to begin with and the hostel also provided towels and spacious lockers which really pleased us. However, once we had settled in we realised that the WiFi didn’t connect in the room and we were left unable to have breakfast on two of our four days due to the hostel running out of bread. They also ran out of tea, butter and creamer on these days. We told reception but he just said he’d been busy and we were left to pay for our breakfast again elsewhere. In addition to the lack of breakfast, there was another problem which made our stay uncomfortable. We were put into a girls dorm with only one other guest in. She was a long term tenant who had sectioned off a corner of the room with blankets. This was fine apart from she told us off for being too loud when we had just checked in at 8:30pm, before lights out. The problems continued when the next day when she blasted music for hours then watched a whole film without her headphones in, only to ask us to be quiet again at 9pm when we got back from dinner. I asked her to stop playing her music and we would try to be quieter. The next day we received an apology note and gift from her and we forgot about the incident, despite her continuing to play music. On the following day she decided to have a go at us for not giving her a thank you gift for her apology, which we never asked for! She ended up being very rude and sarcastic. Her attitude towards us completely ruined our stay here and we would not return. Other guests have told us she has made people leave or change rooms. My advice to the hostel would be to ask her to leave. She is ruining your reputation. Without her this would have been a 4 star review with breakfast as the only downfall (as we managed to log into the WiFi from the cafe below). I’d happily return and recommend this place to others if this girl were not there.

If you have to leave at morning, be careful, that you get your deposit back. They know that I have to leave at 7.15am, and reception should open 7am. But no staff at reception. So I din't get my deposit. 😕

It's a real shame about this hostel. It's in a great location, the beds are lovely, the communal area is good and it has a very modern feel to it. However, the staff don't clean or maintain the place at all. I stayed 4 nights here and the shared bathroom only got cleaned on my last day because someone had mentioned it to reception. Out of the 3 toilets only 1 had toilet tissue for all my stay and out of the 2 showers only 1 works and that is still broken (all in the girls bathroom). With check in and check out they don't seem to know who's in what room. When walking passed reception the girl with the bow on top of her head is CONSTANTLY on her phone, doesn't even acknowledge you are there. She really doesn't have any interest in the company at all. I really hope she is a volunteer and isn't getting paid for doing nothing. There are signs all over asking you to remove your shoes but I saw the housekeeper out in the street in a pair of sandals then in the kitchen with the same sandals on then the girl with the bow doing the same. Just don't even adhere to their own rules. Such a shame. Hopefully if I do ever return they will have a team that care and clean.

The interior of the hostel is lovely and the keycard system is great. I felt safe to leave my stuff in the dorm. Beds are nice, lower bunks got curtains and upper ones got a high wall giving you privacy. Huge plus! Hot showers, rather clean bathrooms. Then the reasons I couldn’t give 5 stars. 1. WiFi not working almost at all during 2 night stay!? In the reception extremely slow, in the dorms not working at all and in the lounge area sometimes ok and then really slow. This was a huge issue for a person working online. It’s 2018, good WiFi is a basic thing in accommodations. 2. The reception had a staff member that seemed moody, even a bit annoyed and arrogant when asking for help. 3. My blanket stunk of laundry detergent so much that I got a headache. Laundry detergents are one of the most toxic products around, it’s advisable to use natural products! And definitely not overuse the conventional ones.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It’s easy to find, great location and is in walking distance of everything you need to see in Georgetown. The dorms are spacious, very clean and secure - the doors are opened with room cards and lockers are provided in the rooms. The beds are a good size also. There is a communal area upstairs which is great for relaxing - free tea and coffee all day which is a bonus!! On our last night they hosted a party and cooked food for all the residents and bought pizza. We had great fun here and met loads of new people. The reception wasn’t great as we had to check out early but we were assured someone would be there for half 7, when we checked out and they weren’t, meaning we had to wait. Overall, a great stay - would recommend

Overall satisfactory stay, but there's one thing which is not satisfied- reception counter. Most of the time there are no one in the counter. Waited almost 20 minutes outside at 9pm on the first day of checking in, no door bells and no body is answering the calls. On the day of checking out (7.45am), nobody is in the counter too, and the phone number given is not functional at all. Hopefully there's improvement.

It's 430am right now and I can't sleep because A.c. does not work. I hope they will fix it tomorrow morning and offer us compensation. I'll keep this review updated. This is a complete joke. How could they allow this?
