Filthy, dirty rooms and toilets not to be mentioned. Barely any privacy. There are only one concrete wall on one side and a cock sheet on 3 others sites And you got sewerage plumbing running everywhere. You can hear people flushing toilets all night if you rooms next to (Most of them ) the dorm shared toilets and shower. Whole room lights up when the toilet lights is switched on. Breakfast! go down the road. $2 street breakfast (local) is way better than what they provide for an example. TV does not work either. Enough said, if you want to find more, you can stay there and write an Essay later

Trip Advisor review By GC ONG Heritage Sixteen Guesthouse, Penang Title : Pearl of the Orient This is my first experience staying in a Guesthouse in Penang. I am so glad I picked a reasonably good one. Heritage Sixteen is ideally located at 16 Carnarvon Street, lots of eatery joints. Street food and beer outlets. The rooms are well kept and tidy compared to several others down the road which is a horror and a nightmare for the excellent review that they had. I must say that the street food at Carnarvon Street is below par. In spite of the long queues that you are witnessing it's rather misleading. That's the way it is. Aha aha! Let your palate do the talking. If course there are lovely street food in Penang. The front office is a nice lady called Ms Jelly, affable and helpful. The breakfast spread is rather spartan. Mediocre drinks and absence of fruits. Acceptable but very basic. Toilet facilities are ample and clean. Accommodation cost at RM70-80 for twin sharing is reasonable comparatively. Cheers! This is a very nice place in a super location for Love Lane and other great attractions in Georgetown. The pod/dorm bed was very comfortable, the wifi fast, and the breakfast fine. Jelly the receptionist was very friendly with a lovely smile. She also printed out my flight tickets which i greatly appreciate. Wonderful budget option in Penang. Thanks!!

Heritage Sixteen is an ideal place to meet and connect with travellers, visitors and helpers from around the world. Perfect location in the old Georgetown. Friendly owners and staff, good WiFi and facilities.Great air conditioners in the rooms. I'll give a bonus point for the provided curtains. Really nice simple breakfast. Very excellent location, as surrounded by plenty of famous restaurants and cafes, and strategic as near to point of historical interests. The only drawback I had was their very small toilets and shower rooms are located outside the dorm unit.

The staff here are polite, but thats where it stops. Not at all welcoming, and even less hospitable. The mood here is, frankly, depressing, so much so that I noticed the other guests walked around on tiptoe and conversed in whispers. Occasionally they played some tasteful music in the lobby, which brightened up the mood, but most the time it was silent. Primarily a hostel, but with a few budget private rooms, the property is located on Carnarvon street, half a block from Chulia. The location is prime, right in the geographic centre of the historic part of the city. A short walk from from hundreds of restaurants, pubs and stores. Two blocks from the free CAT bus stop, two minutes to the stop on the corner at Chulia, and a five ringgit grab ride from the ferry dock at the Weld pier. My room, on the second floor, was not overly clean, and neither was the ensuite shower/WC, which was borderline unacceptable. The bed, not very comfortable, took up most of the room. There was room for a desk and chair, but the only other furniture was an ugly mirror cum bedside stand, an uncomfortable stool and an IKEA style drawer set for clothing, but nothing else. Housekeeping here appears to be be pretty lax, with overflowing ashtrays and trash receptacles throughout the public areas. The A/C worked well, although the wifi was very slow, with frequent “brownouts”, even in the lobby. Breakfast was included in my rate, every day the same: Instant coffee/tea, chocolate sugar cereal, DIY toast and jam, and cold rubbery scrambled eggs. Pretty much the priciest, and least pleasing, of all my stays during a month in Malaysia. I’m sure there are better options in Georgetown, within a couple of blocks of this location. There is no shortage of competition in the neighbourhood.

My budget was tight. This place is just what I need and more with their comfy bed, hangout area, anytime coffee. Although room is only separated by small pieces of partition that allow you to hear others next to you IF they are to loud. It doesn't really matter as we only want to sleep and clean while on vacation.

My first stop in Malaysia was KL and this was my first stay, and it was very beautiful and comfortable suite. We totally loved the funishing inside and the view from the balcony. The place is very spacious and has a kitchen area to use at your convenience. The check-in process is very convenient. The location is perfect and good for travelers. However there was only one disappointment, the host is not readily available, as I got delayed contacting and picking up my baggage the last day, it took about 30 minutes for me to co-ordinate with them and get my baggage, due to which I missed my train with 5 minutes delay. I really wish it was more convenient and someone in the lobby was able to co-ordinate, but I guess this is a small concern and can be overlooked. We still love our stay in the suite and will surely return again. Heritage Sixteen, Penang : This is by far the worst place I ever stayed in Malaysia. I had booked this hoping its a guesthouse. I was not aware that the bathrooms are not attached, which is because of my ignorance. However other then that, I still did not like the place even a bit. I checked in late in the night, about 10pm, after check in, after 30 minutes, I tried to come to reservation desk to enquire something important, but no one was around and I kept calling, but no one seems to be present to address us. Staff wasn't helpful at all. The rooms were small and very suffocating for 3 bed room. There was no space at all. The noise of people in the next room could be heard easily, so makes it even more inconvenient. Even the footsteps of people walking ut can be heard so easily. Doors cannot be locked well, looks like a push can open them up. Free breakfast is lame too. Next morning it rained, after which I realised the common area was stinking of pee, which made it disgusting. I just wanted to leave right away. I had booked for 3 nights, but I left after the first night itself and moved to different place. I didn't get any refund for the 3 days booked, but I did not mind at all.

Friendly owners, very close to the foodtrucks and in the middle of the centre. Walking distance to ferry. Nice breakfast, not just the usual basics but with Eggs and Beans! Clean facilities and room! Our room was at the corner of the building. Two old Windows and bad isolation. A lot of noice during the whole night (cars, scooters...) worse in the weekend.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a family room for the 4 of us. Great location in the heart of Chinatown with lots of amazing street food and cafes around. The building is a great mix of old and new and our room communial areas were very authentically Chinese. Breakfast everyday was great. The staff could not have been more helpful with everything we asked for. Would highly recommend staying here for as long as you need.

Was meant to be a single night but food poisoning from Ao Nang left us incapable of movement for a day, they had no problem giving us an extra night. Room was basic, beds were comfy and shower/toilet was just 10foot away. The only downside is that other people staying there don’t understand that toilet paper goes in the bin and not the toilet which lead to toilets being blocked. The noise outside was really loud but that’s mainly because of Chinese New Year celebrations. Definitely recommend staying here
