Literally a hideaway, Magpje Heritage’s front is one of the old shops in Georgetown. Location-wise it is strategic for tourists who’d like to visit the attractions in the heritage zone. For locals like us who drove, there’s public parking in front of the shophouse. Parking tickets are required on office hours for weekdays and first half of Saturday. Entering the place feels like you’ve been brought to a refurbished heritage place with a blend of the modern taste. There’s an upper floor and the ground level rooms. Due to the wooden floors, don’t expect sound proof because these were retained heritage features. Our room was spacious, decorated with pictures of the 1950s and comes with a little backyard corner. The flooring is slightly uneven, shown in the last photo. Our fridge, opened, saw leftover spoiled milk shakes spill out, and we immediately called the front desk. He’d gone out for dinner and hasn’t eaten at 9pm but he still came back to attend to us immediately. Good service!

I stayed in the blue room. The place has a really nice feel to it. Jeng is an amazing guy who knows a lot about Penang and doesn't mind sharing info with the house guests. He planned our 3 days in Penang and also helped us find good vegetarian restaurants in the area. Highly recommended. Keep in mind it is not a hotel with fancy reception and room service. But with the room you get an ever smiling Jeng who is ready to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

Location is good and staff have a good knowledge of surrounding area and very helpful.
Room is big and clean but a little bit to dark.
Toilet and bathroom are cleaned but again the bathroom quite dark. It made me hard to shave.
I would give 5 starts if the room and bathroom are brighter.

The interior of the room itself is quite nicely decorated.

However , the main drawback is the poor soundproof probably due to the old structure of the building . Fortunately there's 5 rooms only within this building .
we could hear people walking down the staircase , the Vietnamese workers conversation or patrons of the Vietnamese restaurant if there's crowd on a Saturday night until 11.30pm .

Innkeeper were nice but most of the time there isn't anyone tending the reception so we were kind of all by ourselves

Really enjoyed the short stay here. Location is strategic cos it's not too far from food but still quiet enough that your stay is not interrupted. Wei who was in charge of our stay was very helpful during the check-in. She provided us useful information about places nearby and was very friendly. The room was spacious and had comfy bed. In room entertainment was better than most 4 star hotels I've been to. I guess the only down side was the aircond took a while to cool the room down and wasn't located close to the bed. Overall great stay and would highly recommend this place!

We were warmly welcomed by Wei, who gave us a detailed introduction about the places and food we can enjoy during our stay in Penang.

My friends and I stayed at the Yellow Room, which is really spacious, cozy and well furnished. The hotel is located in the middle of all the attractions and recommended local cafes and restaurants. Almost every where is accessible on foot.

The breakfast was delicious, with a variety of fruits, kuehs and char kway teow. We had a selection of coffee, tea or fruit juice. I enjoyed it very much!

Special thanks and compliments to Karen, who took good care of us during our stay. She went out of her way to make everything perfect.

I highly recommend Mango Tree Place Hideaway. Will be back again!

The room is very comfortable with unique design and a private mini garden (as the room is located downstairs). The suite keeper, Miss Karen is very helpful and give a warm welcome upon our arrival. Location of the place is near to the street art and all kind of local food. You will be able to taste the local delicacies within walking distance with affordable and reasonable price.

The room itself makes you feel like home where it is equipped with ceiling fan, air-conditioned, smart tv and dvd player. Suitable for young couples or married couples who wish to spend some time alone.

We were allocated the orange room on level 2. The room is huge with an attached balcony. Nicely equipped and tastefully done up. Bed and pillows were comfy. Attached toilet is separate from the room so it is best to keep the lights on at night to help find yr way. Huge shower, nice to take a long shower in due to Penang's heat.

Ideal location, right smack in the middle of Georgetown. Easy to navigate around by foot.

Ended up finding this place by accident during a plight to find a place to stay very last minute. I was indeed surprised at how great this place is. Rooms are tastefully decorated and one of the best beds I've slept on. A private room with huge space located in the heart of Georgetown where we could visit all the recommended spots. Drove down to Penang and didn't have to drive out of Georgetown to get all our fixes Penang has to offer. Book directly from the hotel's website for an even better price, couldn't be any happier with this place and is highly recommended.
