Lovely old colonial style hotel in a great location in Georgetown. The rooms were done out well, although a little tired in places (eg. some decor looking a little tired, towels not great quality and frayed!) Reception staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was generally good with a nice mix of traditional local choices plus continental, so something for...

Little to say since everything went very smoothly during this stay. Most has been said by other reviews but I'd like to insist on how helpful the staff is. To a degree you rarely find in the hospitality industry. Thanks

Stayed in Nam Keng for two nights - stayed in its Sister Yeng Keng along Chulia street five years ago. Nam Keng is a small and cosy hotel at a very good location - within walking distances to shopping streets along Kimberly, Chulia, Penang, Campbell and Burma. Nam Keng does not have swimming pool and restaurant but is ok for...

Honestly, Georgetown is one of those rare places which simply seduces the tourist & staying at Nam Keng is part of that seduction. So, what was the seduction? Its location on Lebuh Cintra was just some 30 metres or so from the main street of Lebuh Chulia, the main road in Georgetown. So, it was close enough to the main...

If you want a sense of what the old Chinese Shop-houses were like this is a great place to stay. A carefully restored Shop-house turned into a hotel with nine rooms. Our room interior was comfortable and well air conditioned. Service is very personalized. Included breakfast was fine (local and Western) and don't hesitate to ask them for something special....

Breakfast provided free of charge 8 AM - 10:30 AM and free bottled water, refrigerator and hot pot. Great staff.....front desk, house keeping, kitchen, etc....Great location; near stores, shops & restaurants. Plus, a real...

This was the ideal place for us. We stayed two nights and wanted to wander the city. It's centrally located, clean, great rooms, helpful and very pleasant staff, includes breakfast, and is an enchanting 100 year old building. If I return I will stay here again.

I was recommended to try out this heritage hotel by my brother. I was not disappointed. The hotel is right at the center of the heritage area. I just need to walk to visit the places of interest and most importantly, the great food places! Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and modern with a heritage feel....

This was a good base for visiting Georgetown, we could walk or Uber to any location. We had a room on the back side so it was quiet. A/C worked great. The bed was very firm. We didnt care for the breakfast, but could walk out to several places. Staff was friendly.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hoo Kim Hotels Sdn Bhd has established another pearl in the heart of George Town. With the success of Yeng Keng Hotel, the owner envisaged an idea of a Heritage "Business" Boutique Hotel, a hotel that exudes beauty and vibrancy and yet accommodating to business travellers who prefer to experience the living heritage of George Town. Nam Keng Hotel is named after one of the earliest established cities in China, which was also the capital city of China for 6 dynasties. Our hotel consists of 3 combined units of shop houses, which were built during the early 1900's. With 8 elegantly appointed rooms, each room is tastefully decorated with antique furnitures, handpicked personally by the owner. ... more   less
