Clean hotel. Bath towels, hand towels and bath mat. Soap dispenser in shower. Soap bar also provided. Air conditioner, fan, hot water and wifi work well. Don’t forget to flick the switch outside the bathroom to activate the air conditioner and hot water. Water bottles provided. Also water dispenser (cold and hot) near reception with coffee and mugs. Saw umbrellas also. Good movies on TV. Tan (reception lady) very nice and polite. Do try Kuantan rd morning market, Cecil st food court, Friday night market van praagh and Ais Tingkap. Free CAT bus from Komtar around Georgetown, last stop at ferry. Then it starts again at the ferry to Komtar in a slightly different direction due to one war streets. Chowrasta market also has hawker stalls in the alley in the morning. Do not go to New Lane hawker food - overpriced and not the best in flavour. You will not be able to sit unless you buy a drink.…
Pros - The hotel is located nearby Komtar where is the bus terminal. The location is strategic because it is also close to Gama Department Store. - There are all things that you need for staying in budget hotel (except the refrigerator). - Clean and tidy - Hot water always works Con - The size of the room is quite small - Weak wifi signal in the room
Through Agoda it says 46% discounted rates and only 2 rooms left - FAKE NEWS I am told rate walk in is 108rm Agoda rate after the add n whatever became 97-98rm ☝️the not so straight to the point method used in business. Now how is the hotel The good; Thick walls couldn’t hear boo from next room Brightly lit long hallways On a Tue & Wed we were there guests seems decent and safe hotel for single Traveller to consider Price is ok Front desk is friendly The not so-good; What does one wants especially for under 100rm last checked for Australian 33 $? Go ahead book with confidence
Located near to Komtar and walking distance to Penang Times Square and other plaza. Stay in triple room, AC's cool but leak a lil' bit. Bathroom clean and have basic amneties, hair dryer can requested at receptionist. Staff very helpful and even borrow us umbrella when raining hard. Hotel didn't have elevator, so too much luggage with make u sweat to take in to your room. Recommended for budget travelers.
A value for money, well located cosy room near Komtar. It provides all the basics for a budget traveller, including water refills. It would be good if 2 pillows, hangers and a safe are provided. There are big mosquitos in the room but luckily not bitten. Nearby Mcdonald house and new lane hawker stalls and Komtar.
I booked this hotel based on research from a blog I looked at. When I arrived check in was fine. The room wasn't grand but it's enough, clean enough, quiet with hot water . No complaints but apparently there's a rule that if you go out and come in after a certain time, the front desk will ask to see your passport and your name/information for confirmation that you stay in the hotel. This was very annoying and seeing that I was a lone traveler, woman and a foreigner I didn't know if I was being targeted or what. Either way I talked to the manager the next morning and he stated that it's a rule after apologies. I honestly believe that this rule needs to be placed somewhere BIG so when guest are looking at this hotel as an option they will know. If I would have known I wouldn't have reacted the way I did and no one wants to be questioned if they are staying at the hotel knowing you paid your hard earn money.…
The room was decent, clean and comfortable with aircon. There was no windows in the room. Great location near china town and 15 minute walk to all the famous street art. Loads of restaurants near by also. Reception staff are a bit miserable and weren't very welcoming upon arrival. We had 5 bags and none of them offered to help us to our room which I thought was a bit rude. The room was also not cleaned once during the 4 nights we spent here. I think for what you pay to stay here you should have your room cleaned. Unacceptable really but never mind. I would recommend this hotel as rooms are good and location is central. Thanks
Overall I will recomended this hotel because 118 Hotel near from Komtar Bus Terminal and near from McDonald's. Staff very helpfull and very kind. When we want to Booking Grab to go to Gurney Hawcker Center, they help us how to booked. And they give us information how to explored Penang. So I think I will stayed again in this hotel when I'm arrived in Penang.
To plan a trip and walk around the Georgetown doesn't really need a super cool, nice view, luxury room. Three of us stayed in a room with 1 queen size & 1 single bed. It was just nice to freshen up and rest while we had a long walk for whole day. Walking distance to Penang Times Square and GAMA. Both also a mall, GAMA has variety things to buy there, if you forgot to bring your toiletries, it would be convenience for you. Penang Times Square is a bit quiet but there's a lot of photo taking spot in there. You will be very surprised to see the mall actually decorated with different theme at different area. We are vegan. We found a place to eat - Wholey Wonder which behind the hotel is about 7-mins walking distance. There's a vegetarian restaurant in Penang Times Square. You just need to walk through the food court, then you will see it - Old Street Taiwanese Delicacies.…
Location is very near Komtar, but quite a walk from Georgetown. We had a downstairs room, which was quite small, with no natural light. I had to wash some clothes and they took two days to dry, and everything smells damp. It's a fine room just for sleeping, but not to spend any time in. It was very clean everywhere. The shower is hot and very good. No housekeeping whatsoever is done unless you ask. When you ask for things to be done they are quickly sorted out. The staff are absolutely lovely.
