We were stranded in Penang a few days ago. We went on the ferry from Langkawi to Penang for a visit + planned to return same day. However, we were given wrong info by the ticket seller and missed the return ferry. We had to go + find somewhere to stay for the night. We found the above hotel and the owner was a charming man who was very kind and hospitable. He made us all a couple of complimentary drinks and had a room made up for us. He was so helpful and advised us where to get a good meal and where to get good views of Penang by night etc etc. The room was delightful and this small boutique suite was just the ticket. The staff were very nice and helpful too. Well recommended. Thanks to all. The 3 ladies from UK
Quirky hotel with rooms split loft-style. The manager was funny and very helpful, with plenty of tips on Georgetown and Penang attractions and restaurants. We had a nice stay for 3 nights, but after walking around in the scorching sun we started to dream about a swimming pool, which this hotel is missing. The rooms are big downstairs, but the bed is in the loft area up some pretty steep stairs, which quickly became off limits for our 3-year old. The roads around the hotel are also pretty noisy, courtesy of a couple of popular restaurants and their motorised patrons. Breakfast is across the road in a little street restaurant full of locals, good enough if you are not too picky and are happy to drink tea from a mug that has been used a few too many times before. Location wise the Palm mansion is central and walking distance to pretty much everything. It's pretty safe and secure, with electronic security door at ground level. Mr Chang looked after us with really good tips that saved us money and time.…
The service and the length that Mr Chang and Dr Theng went to extend their hospitality was outstanding. They made our stay in Penang very memorable and we would like to thank them for the warmth and services. The owner and staff have definitely provided us fine personalised concierge service during our stay. The suites at the hotel preserved the charm of Penang of yesteryears and are clean, sizeable, high ceiling-ed and quaint. Definitely a good alternative to a hotel, for the space and unique historical background. We especially like that many of the furnitures were repurposed wood from the old structure recovered from when the hotel underwent restoration. In general the ambience of the suite was good however, the AC may not be powerful enough to cool the very high ceiling suites in the peak of an afternoon. We were out most of the day, so it wasn't really a concern for us. Bearing in mind the hotel does not appear to have an elevator therefore may not be suitable for people with accessibility concerns. Nevertheless staffs are more than happy to assist with delivering luggages to suites. Also noteworthy is Palm Mansion's great location and easy access to many of George Town's UNESCO World Heritage attractions. We walked to the Clans Jetty, Little India, Lebuh Armenia, Lebuh Chulia, Love Lane, St George's Church, and the Kwan Im Temple from the hotel. The proximity to some of the yummy local eateries is also a big plus for us.…
Great location, great knowledgeable and friendly manager Mr Chang, always happy to help out with directions, things to see and do and where to eat ! Rooms are big enough for 3 we were only a couple so had the spare single bed with the king bed on the mezzanine level. Will be back if returning to Penang
Palm Mansion is in a great location. Near to Chulia St and Love Lane for nightlife, but just far enough away to avoid the noise at night. This is very convenient part of Georgetown from which to explore all the main sites while here. JL is a wonderful host who is exceptionally accommodating to his guests needs. I can't recommend this place enough. This is my preferred place to stay while in Penang.
What a really nice surprise when you walk into this converted historical building, so nicely decorated and full of character. The management under the friendly eye of TL were superb. Such a friendly group of people who immediately made you feel at home with a cool drink and invaluable advice on what to do and see in Georgetown. Nothing was to much trouble for them, arranging a booking a restaurant for the evening to seeking advice from the Pharmacy, as I had arrived there with a bad stomach. The rooms were cosy and fitted in well with the decor of the building. The large bed in the mezzanine was really comfortable as was the single bed on the ground floor. Everything was really clean and the housekeeper made an excellent job of keeping the room clean and tidy. The hotel is well situated in the UNESCO heritage area of Georgetown, with my places to see and good eating places. Breakfast which was included is taken at a nearby eatery with a good selection of food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Georgetown.…
I loved staying here! The staff was wonderful and helpful. They gave us recommendations and helped with finding a laundry service. Very clean and nice rooms with ample space to fit my friends and I for our stay.
Stayed 3 nights with 5 of my uni friends while on our trip to Penang. The concierge team was excellent, helping us with everything from laundry to the best places to eat. Facilities were great as well, spacious rooms decorated with beautiful repurposed wood. Thanks for a great stay!
Beautiful facilities. Personable staff who were happy to talk and answer questions. Quickly adjusted service to best fit our requests and needs. Open air hallway with garden was a beautiful way to enter the facilities.
Staf was very friendly and nice! Helped me a lot with finding all best touristic places. Location is one the main roads of George Town, which made life a lot easier. You can find all shops and cafes just right above the street. Very clean and chilled boutique:)
