Never expect Cititel Express suitable for solo too, stayed at room with queen bed for 3 nights. Overall nothing bad for this hotel, bed quite comfortable and room is clean and well organised.

Location just within the centre and easy access to tourist spots. Shopping mall just opposite the hotel and hawker stall also within walking distance. If anyone of you wish to stay at this hotel, book directly from their website and the price is cheaper than you book from other booking sites.

Reception staff is friendly during check in and express check out is quick. I’m recommend to visit Le Cafe if anyone happen to stay at this hotel, cosy cafe shop you can have simple Korean toast sandwich for breakfast. Cafe just within 3mins walk from the hotel.

Will come back to stay for next trip to Penang again.

It is a group tour where we had our retreat & the organiser chose this hotel for us to stay due to budget.

The room is small which is 14 sqm. It is conveniently located inside Georgetown & can easily access to many places of interests, food & shopping malls. It is linked to St. Giles Wembley Penang Hotel so you can walk through it to access to the shopping malls & food nearby.

The housekeeping is average however they are quite fast to act on it if you need their service. They do not really clean up the table & side tables with some stains on them. They also did not wash the cup after I had used it. One of my team members' room was not cleaned after the previous guests had checked out & the hotel did not check & assigned the room to them. Fortunately the hotel arranged another room & upgraded for them immediately. I feel the housekeeping need to be improved generally.

The amenities provided are basic & they only provide hair dryer, disposable bathroom slippers, shampoo, body wash, disposable toothbrushes & toothpaste, disposable shower cap & disposable sanitary bag. They do not have hair conditioner. So for ladies, it is best you bring your own hair conditioner as I forgot to bring mine.

There is one flaw design of the bathroom where the water will seep through the door & the whole floor will be wet even the bathroom floor mat cannot absorb all the water. The door design should be behind the kerb & not on top of the kerb. The door rubber is unable to deter the water seeping through the door. It is a bad design.

The bed is quite ok to sleep & the pillows are not too soft.

The TV has very poor reception so the TV programs are not very clear.

There is not much sound proof in the room as I could hear hotel guests speaking at the common corridor.

They provide breakfast but the food & choice of selection were not fantastic. I advise to eat out as there many coffeeshops & shopping malls nearby to eat their local famous food like char kway teow, wanton noodles, assam laksa, fried egg oyster, prawn noodles, chendol & more.

The check out service was quick & efficient but the concierge service for the luggage was slightly slower as due to lack of manpower & also we were in a big group of 60 people.

Overall it was a short stay for us for 3 days 2 nights so I did not expect much as we were out most of the time for team bonding.

If for personal travelling, I will not consider this hotel.

Prime Location as near Komtar Complex as centre of everything.

I can explore local attractions within walking distance such street art, chew jetty, etc.

Check in or reception is the same as The Webley Hotel since Cititel Express as temporary closed.

I experienced un long Q during check in up to 45 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

Wifi is ok
TV : variety of channels
Fridge
Air Con : ok

7-11 not far from hotel

Small Room but equipped with all needs

Highly recommended

My wife and I booked and paid for a two night stay(26-28/12) before we left our home in KL. Arrived at 7.30pm and we were dumbfounded by a really busy reception. To our horror, we were told by other guest that they have been waiting since 2pm for their rooms. We were later told by the front office that they can't give us a room and we need request a refund from Agoda. We couldn't find any other hotels to our choise because it was late and had to settle with any hotel with an available room!

It's absolutely not professional, we understand that you may be understaffed after MCO but it's not an excuse to let guest wait for long hours and then just leave us hanging.

Never will stay here EVER!!!

There are a number of reason this was probably one of my worst experience staying in an “express” hotel.

1) extremely bad service. The reception was rude and disparaging probably due to fact that cititel express was utilizing wimbley hotel reception and they thought they were to good for us. Bu
2) AC was not working but the maintenance people were professional and friendly unlike the reception and fixed the issue quickly. ( okay this isn’t bad and their one redeeming factor)
3) apparently ktv is allowed to operate till 2 or 3 am and the atrocious singing kept me up (I’m not saying I’m good at singing but I wouldn’t subjugate individuals to my crap voice and these people shouldn’t either.) Thought ktv not allowed to operate yet or if allowed entertainment establishments close at 12. Privileged I suppose..
4) room is tiny like super tiny
5) internet stopped working and was slow and unstable (even with 20% occupancy can’t imagine if the usage increased)
6) no food establishments

Overall bad experience and I would not recommend staying here to my worst enemy.

This hotel is located right in the middle of Georgetown, Penang and very close ro Komtar. Parking is available free of charge too.

I went to this hotel as a transit, short one night stay before going to my actual visiting place. Room was small, but comfortable enough for 2. Toilet is complete with all basic amenities and spotless. The entire room is clean too.

Breakfast spread is great, plenty of food to choose. Taste wise, good. Breakfast is served at the Wembley. Price wise, hotel is cheap for the services they offer.

Will I come back? Yes.
