Pretty rooms but not much else. Thumping bass from nightclub which only stopped around 5am prevented us for getting much rest before our early morning. Rooms are really spacious but not terribly well maintained. Sound insulation from the street is non existent, every motorcycle driving by can be heard. WIFI can only be used to load the most basic things, super slow for any real streaming. Very well priced but I definitely won't be back.

Checked into this hotel and was so wowed by the decor ,the beauty and the serenity of the place till 11pm when the club or bar across the street started playing thumping music. The bass could be clearly heard in the room and all the peacefulness was gone. Was looking forward to a restful sleep but that all gone. Yes , the hotel is along the main road and I'm not complaining of the occasional street traffic or passing car but the dodgy thumping club bass across is simply ridiculous. Called the hotel and they could do nothing. What a pitym when you can't look forward to a good night sleep. A hotel has failed it core duty. It should also List in its hotel description that the hotel faces the main road, has no proper lobby for cars to stop and.no breakfast. I think it due for a refresh

Never have I had such mixed and polar feelings about a hotel. All of the service, the actual building, and the location gave me extremely good and bad experiences. The Indian lady who came to fetch me was get courteous and friendly. The first impression of the room was fantastic - high ceiling, spacious, fully equipped kitchen and tasteful, stylish decor. Location-wise it is smack in the middle of historic Georgetown with easy access to the most delicious food. Seems too good to be true and it was. Came back after 21:00 when the front desk is unmanned and discovered all the things I didn't hope for. My key card got demagnetized and there was nobody to help. I was finally able to find this gentleman who sat outside (not in uniform). Turns out he was the security guard who managed to get me someone to get me into my room. The service attitude was great, but the scare was too much. Then, I realized the toilet was not cleaned - human excrement in toilet bowl. Wifi is at a speed that it is virtually not functional. The redeeming two points were the hot and stable shower and the very comfy beds. The air conditioner is not cold even when it was set to the strongest possible setting, so sleeping with the blanket is not an option. Crazily loud music with heavy bass blasts outside somewhere and even with my 3M earplugs I could not block it out. Cars and motorcycles also zoom by very loudly throughout the night. Until the morning the road right next to the rooms made sure you would not be able to catch any snoozes. It is rather torturous when the body is already that tired and the bed is so comfortable, yet you get waken up after each motorcycle. What a torn experience at such a pretty hotel.

Stop searching and book this place immediately, it would be your best bet for the best of what Penang has to offer. The UNESCO World Heritage Award shines brilliantly in the area’s restructuring efforts, from the windows to the wall, till the sweat drips of every person involved in the remake of this absolute gem. Everyone in their right mind knows that Penang has a notorious reputation for being a food haven, and the location of this gem is another point of contention. Steps away from hearty nasi kandar, a short stroll from famous char koay teow, and wash the heat away with ice kachang that has been around for almost as long as the building itself, all within 10 minutes walk! You could even head to Chowrasta market for souvenirs to bring home, and you’ll still barely break a sweat. The staff members of this charming property also deserve the highest of praise, striking a sincere balance of being helpful and respecting privacy. There is therefore no excuse to be looking elsewhere, you’d be having a hard time trying to get the best of all worlds. From the rooms, to the locations, to the people, charming is the understatement of the year, and I look forward to coming back whenever I seek for a short getaway!

I have stayed at this hotel before back at the end of 2017. It was absolutely brilliant. The staff were great, the rooms were wonderful as you would have seen in the photos and the location worked for what we needed for our trip in Georgetown. Unfortunately, I have come back during the first week of 2019 and the standards have dropped. This would be ok normally as it can be hard to always maintain a smooth operation, but this is one of the more expensive boutique hotels in Georgetown so not what you would expect. Issues we encountered. 1. Loud thumping music sound (Base) from a bar across the street that keeps going until late into the morning hours 2. All the photos are of the rooms upstairs. Please be aware that the rooms down stairs are quiet different from the rooms upstairs. Make sure you push the management to give you a room upstairs. I had this agreed before my stay but then the upstairs room had a maintenance issue and I was stuck in a room down stairs. 3. The shower floods in the downstairs rooms so we had to keep using towels to keep the water from continuing out the door. 4. It is an old building so you will heard guests above you walking. The guest above our room seemed to be rather loud. 5. Internet was not very strong, even for basic apps. ( I was not streaming) Sad to say, this will most likely be my last time staying here, unless an upstairs room can be absolutely guaranteed.

This is a delightful little hotel right in the centre of George Town. Rooms were large, bed was firm but comfortable, each room had its own patio, & decor was amazing! As has previously been noted the hotel is at a busy intersection so if you don't like the constant drone of traffic don't stay here. The wooden windows are double glassed which does help. I was able to sleep in until 11am one morning. There appear to be 9 rooms instead of the 5 noted in previous reviews. 5 are upstairs and there are 4 downstairs. Hotel staff are present during the day and a security guard sits outside during the night. Unfortunately, wifi would be my only real criticism of the hotel. I was able to stream YouTube videos at standard definition however, would have issues browsing websites on some occasions. All in all I would definitely stay again.

Stunning, spacious rooms with impressive decor and interior design set amongst beautiful, lush tropical plants right in the heart of Georgetown. Rooms were extremely well equipped with everything you could need. Location is second to none with some of the best street food on offer at your doorstep.

I have been working in Hotels for more than 10 years and I have never lived such a terrible experience in a Hotel. The first impresion was´nt possitive, the front desk associate was rude and unhelpful during the check in experience. The room was correct, as stated on booking.com description. However, the Hotel is located on one of the main roads and the noise is awful during the day & night. I had a terrible experience during my stay, the first night, due to the room conditions, I went to put a bottle of empty water in the paper bin, and given the poor conditions of maintenance of the room, there was a corner of pointed metal and lifted and accidentally hit my head with it, making an open wound. I went down to reception so they could help me heal me but there was no one on duty, the hotel was totally unattended. I wrote a message to whatsapp that the Hotel had given us, and after a long wait, a man came and the only solution he gave me was to give me a Band-Aid. After a very bad night, due to the noise and the discomfort of the wound, I decided to go down to the reception to reduce my stay and be able to find another accommodation in George Town. What was my surprise that there was nobody in reception (it was his day off), more than a bellboy that barely spoke English. He put me on the phone with the front desk assistant and told me that there was no problem, that I was looking for another Hotel, that they would return the two nights I was not going to use, for the inconvenience caused (she talked to the General Manager and they have agreed to do it). As it was his free day, she made me return the next day, and lost part of my time visiting the city, to be able to make the return (because they had charged me in my credit card in advance). The next day we returned and he gave me the tourist tax in cash and he had me fill out a document, to make the return on the card. I was surprised because not having spent a month, they can make the return with the same dataphone, but I thought it was a normal procedure. He told me I had to wait 15 days. It has been 23 days and the accommodation does not answer the phone or messages. In addition to not having proceeded with the return. I write this here, in addition to leaving it also in other networks, because I do not want them to cheat anyone again. What had to have been a pleasure trip was a real disaster, thanks to the Loke Thye Kee Residences.

The location is very central, right next to one of the most famous cendol stalls in Penang. However there is no direct area for cars to stop in front, and we had to park a distance away. But still, it was within walking distance to many famous streets so once we found a car park, we were settled for the day. The room was much larger than I anticipated and shows little signs of wear and tear, which may also be viewed as part of the old shophouse charm. The mattress was indeed a lot firmer than I am used to, but which I think could be easily fixed with a mattress topper. But overall, I was pleased with the design, similar to an aparthotel, and the availability of the little kitchenette. We were pretty much left to ourselves after check in as there is no full time front desk staff, but we were quite used to airbnbs and treated it as such. But service from the staff was very accommodating and efficient. There is also no hotel amenities such as a pool, gym and even the restaurant doesn't seem to be operating anymore. BUT with great food all around, and lots of exploring involved, we didn't spend that much time in the hotel anyway. Yes, street noise and prayer calls (from the nearby mosque) could be heard, but also easily fixed with bringing your own earplugs. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would consider coming back to stay.
