The room was clean and spacious as we expected. The hotel is located in a great location, very close to many attractions especially the famous street arts. We would definitely come back to stay here again in the future.

The area was super convenient . Everything was within walking distance , the Penang peranakan museum was a 5 min walk . Opposite to Padang Kota which offered great food . Main attractions like the street arts and hipster cafes was only 3 blocks down .
Rooms was ok , we got the room right beside the reception . If your a light sleeper , this hotel isn't for you , as there is no soundproofing at all . You could here people talking and since it's by the road, you can hear traffic too . It could get loud at times .
But we wasn't really bothered as we were there to experience the beautiful interiors and decor . Which I fell in love with. The tiles and wooden parquet flooring was gorgeous ! However bed was a little noisy . Toilet was huge and had rain shower. We were very satisfied ! But the free wifi didn't work ! The signal was so poor

The building used to and still used as chamber of commerce except that upstairs now is hotel and restaurant. The room was clean the shower was hot and the ac unit was cold. Perfect. But one day back from out and about back to our room and still in messy condition. The room boy work a bit slow. You can ask front desk to solve this problem. Its minor but still bugging me. Other than that, I would gladly back to stay

LOVE this hotel! We were greeted by the friendly staff, Nancy who is really helpful and gracious throughout our stay! The rooms are very clean, beautiful, huge and comfortable with a hint of vintage Victorian feel! I love how they have a coffee machine in every room and some drinks are complimentary. They have an ironing board and safe locker in each room as well so I was not worried of my belongings going missing.
I remembered when we were almost late to catch our flight back and I asked if the staff are able to help us book a taxi big enough for many luggages. Nancy and another staff promptly called for a Vellfire who managed to get us there just in time to catch the flight.
I will DEFINITELY come back here again! Thank you Chambers hotel for giving myself and my friends excellent hospitality! Highly recommended! :)

We booked this hotel via Booking.com using our credit card to secure the room

On arrival, and after filling out the relevant forms we were asked for payment as expected, at this point they disclosed it was only cash and we could not use our credit cards.

Even when we showed them the booking that had no mention of the cash only policy.

So, it is now late in the day and they are the most unhelpful staff we have met during our current year long trip (that bad), they would not even give us access to the WiFi to arrange another room.

After nearly 3 hours and constant calls to Booking.com we finally agreed no cancellation fee would apply despite it being the hotels mistake....they would not agree to the waiver of the fee until I would not leave.

They even showed me an email their manager had sent to Booking.com showing this was a regular occurrence.

There are many very good hotels in Georgetown...stay clear of this one.

We moved to the Royale Chelung 10 minutes away... fantastic service by very helpful people...

It may have been a nice hotel, however the management and staff do not care!!!

STAY WELL CLEAR

Considering its relatively cheap rate, overall this hotel is above my expectations. Its a heritage object: formerly chinese chamber of commerce - they had kept many details as it was, but it is really clean and tidy. It is also located perfectly on CAT free shuttle bus route (which gets you around Georgetown), and few steps away from several city's landmarks. Tips: There is a nice coffee shop and Subway downstairs; just walk about 100m to the south or take a CAT bus to find breakfast like locals.

Reviews mentioned great service upon check in, stocked free mini bar and toiletries of which we did not experience. Upon checking in they tried to give us a lesser room than we had paid for then begrudgingly switched us while implying that we were causing them issues. No toiletries, not even hand soap (there is something in the shower but I fear it was liquid soap for both "shampoo" and "conditioner"). Room is quite large with a big TV if that is what you are looking for. Cleaning service consisted of only changing the waste bins and adding toilet paper, changing towels. Staff was not kind and made us feel as if staying there was a disruption.

It's a very convenient place to stay in Penang. Around you can find eating places, you can walk around, coffee shops near by. The hotel themselves very well furnished in old british style. Rooms well maintained and clean. The owner of it spend time for details. Top up is the restaurant inside. Very friendly staff, delicious food, great drinks. Is not 5 star but you should not miss a place like that if you travel.

Solo female tourist visit to Georgetown over the Chinese New Year Celebrations for 5 days.
Hotel overlooked the Central Park where there was stages and music and entertainment every night as well as markets and amazing food stalls. Felt safe at all times.
Room was clean with comfortable bed ,good shower, make up area.
Staff helpful with taxi tour arrangements, airport transfers, etc
Will return!
