We really enjoyed our stay in the Hilton. It was our first visit to this hotel and we were very impressed by the friendly, accommodating reception staff. We chose to take the discounted breakfast package and were so glad we did! We found the food available to be excellent ... Malaysian, Western and Asian options freely available. Staff were very friendly after a few days...thank you Salim and staff. The hotel is situated in "the quiet area" of town so outside breakfast options were limited but conveniently close to Welcome Seafood which served brilliant fresh seafood at a very reasonable price. Close also were a variety of hawker restaurants that served cheap, delicious food. We loved the pool area and made full use of the area for our morning swim and then lazing around later.,,,often with a delicious poolside snack and drinks. Great shade in the afternoon and seldom noisy or busy! Ben was so helpful with ideas and suggestions to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Our only suggestion for improvement would be the dark bar area....staff were rather aloof except for the barman and it is not the most welcoming of spaces. Rooms were comfortable and well maintained and serviced. Overall I would recommend this hotel and we hope to be back next year.

It is not often that you travel to a new property in a new location and leave with Everlasting Memories and to add to it, a Most Heart Wrenching Farewell, when in the first place you never ever expected much from a hotel. Although my initial outlook was, I don't think this is a place that I would like to visit again, but when the time came to leave, you are just yearning to go back at the earliest opportunity that you can get, and I assure you it does not happen often, but when it does, there are no words to describe the experience! This is what happened at Hilton Kota Kinabalu! I had travelled there to ascertain if I would consider going back to a city I had never ever been in and to a hotel that would be a first time for me. What made a difference for me at this hotel was The Team at Hilton Kota Kinabalu Hotel, led by the General Manager Kumar Muniandy. He was just covering the property management until the arrival of a new GM, but in my 35 years of staying at various hotels all over the World, I have not had the fortune of meeting an outstanding, down to earth and highly experienced GM as Mr. Kumar. He was respected such that the Team Members were vying for the opportunity to work with him on a long term basis, as he was Truly A Peoples GM, approachable equally by all grades of the Team as well as the Guests which he ensured to meet as many as possible. Having met Mr. Kumar was a humbling experience and I deem myself fortunate for this meeting. After having met the rest of the Team over the days, there are no words left to describe how it became difficult to say goodbye when the time came to leave. It was definitely not me seeking to see and interact with them, but whenever I was out and about, they would ensure they spent as much time talking and enquiring if everything was fine with my stay. The biggest challenge I do encounter is that when you are at such a large property, it is very difficult to remember all the names, but nevertheless I wish to mention a few, with the proviso that the names I have not mentioned have not been omitted intentionally, but they are equally recognized by me, and I apologize for the invidious position I am. The Heads and Each and Every Team Member of all the Departments at the Hotel, Front Office Manager, Ms. Farrah, such a kind and considerate person who feels personally responsible if anyone has not been up to the standard expected of them, The lounge Manager Mr. Miswan, a very humble person who ensures everyone going to the lounge are personally attended to at all times. Housekeeping personnel, ensuring the rooms are maintained at the highest standards. Last but not least, Executive Chef Qayyam, Chef Nelson, Chef Terry and each and every single Chef. To Say they were OUTSTANDING WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. Chef Qayyam, so highly experienced in all different cuisines due to his travel all over the World. No Challenge was impossible, because at the end of the week that I left, he personally organized a menu for a Large Wedding, and the standard of the variety of dishes was such that he received accolades from all the guests, because despite limitation of certain essential spices and ingredients, he managed to execute the dishes to absolute perfection for dishes that had never ever been prepared at the hotel before. Chef Nelson and Terry, were equally talented to try anything and everything, and to ensure improving the dishes to perfection. I think I could go on and on in respect to all the Team Members, but the list would be endless..... When the time came for me to travel back, the GM and all the Heads of the Departments were awaiting to say a personal goodbye which made me very emotional, and I also missed my flight due to reaching some five minutes late for check in. This cost me some $250 in purchasing a new ticket, but I did not regret it as the emotional attachments that developed during my short stay, no money could buy that. Although Hilton Kota Kinabulu is in the middle of the town, there are lots of places of interests to visit including some excellent restaurants some 5 to 10 minutes walk away. A Personal Thank You to EACH AND EVERY TEAM MEMBER AT HILTON KOTA KINABALU. Eagerly awaiting my revisit to the Hotel sooner rather then later.....

The Hilton Kota Kinabalu is a nice hotel, but to be honest, I expected more. The room I had was nice room, with a good bed and linens. But the shower was disappointingly weak. Service staff were attentive and helpful, but their records were mixed up and confused for some in our party. Most disappointing for me was the rather mediocre breakfast buffet. I would expect better from Hilton. The roast potatoes were not fully roasted one day. Salad choices were limited and lettuce wilted. Only two kinds of cheese. Some of the bread was stale.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our Borneo trip before heading home. The staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival. We were in room 1128 which is next to the pool area and the room was perfect with a nice big bed and seating area to chill. There was lots of space and places to store belongings in the room. We had a safe, a kettle and a nice spacious bathroom with a really great shower. The room was so quiet and we loved that they provide Crabtree toiletries which was a really nice touch. The pool area was lovely with a nice big, clean pool and loungers and towels that you could use at your convenience. The service in the bar next to the pool area could be more responsive. We found that the staff stayed in the restaurant area rather than come out to see if people wanted to order food / drinks. We were handed a menu by a male staff member who then disappeared for 25 minutes and we had to go in to the restaurant to order as he didn’t come back out, and it wasn’t that busy. The other occasion we were given free drinks when we waited 25 minutes for 2 glasses of beer which we had to chase up. The service in the bar area needs some improvement. We had food in the restaurant on the ground floor which was ok. We also ordered room service and I ordered quinoa salad and feta but there was barely any quinoa and a scrape of feta that was tiny and my salad consisted of mostly gem lettuce. The restaurant downstairs was empty and the menu isn’t right and far too snacky and the prices are too high for what is on offer; making it prohibitive considering that there was no one there. The staff in the restaurant areas were very pleasant and helpful. We didn’t have breakfast and instead decided to eat out locally which was a good shout as the hotel food wasn’t to our taste and overpriced. Putting aside the eating options and slow service around the pool we loved this hotel and would give it a 5 out of 5.

Hilton Kota Kinabalu 📍 1 King Bedroom Suite with Executive lounge access 🌞🌃8D/7N Stay ✅Jul 2023 📱Booked through Hilton Honors mobile app 📐Room Size: 84sqm/904sqft 📍Package details: Member rate 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧Family Stay 🔵REVIEW This hotel continues to deliver excellent service even though they were almost full-house on this stay. 💳Check in 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Quite complicated this time, as I've requested preliminary things such as early check-in as our flight was a bit early than usual (it was supposedly afternoon but retimed to late morning) and simple birthday decoration as it was my wife's birthday. During check-in however (around 12.30pm), the room was not ready as possibly the previous guests hasn't checkout or the room wasn't cleaned yet. It's understandable as we noticed the main lobby was quite full with guests especially tourists from South Korea and Mainland China. So we politely requested to go to the Executive Lounge to wait and having light refreshments while waiting which they promptly allowed. After a while we left our luggage with Concierge while we went to nearby eateries to have lunch and do a little shopping. We've got a signal from the hotel telling that the room is ready around 2pm and proceed back to the hotel and finalize the check-in process. ✅Lobby 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The lobby area is neat as usual, smells nice and full of friendly staffs. Not much change however since first setting foot here in 2018. Perhaps some minor makeup or renovation in the lobby would be nice to see soon. 🛎Concierge 🌟🌟🌟 The concierge was not up to level required for 5-star hotel as they were a bit nervous and quite havoc of handling luggage and guests. The issues were: 1. On the day of check-in, someone's luggage mistakenly put or left in our room's wardrobe. About 10 minutes later, one of the concierge staff came over and retrieved the luggage. 2. Our luggage were separated into two units, one put into concierge area while other was put in the Executive Lounge. Once we are in the room, the luggage kept at the concierge were in the room but it took quite a while for them to send the luggage from the Lounge. 3. Sometimes they had the tendency to ignore greeting guests like us at the main entrance. Very selective of helping opening the vehicle's doors too. ✅Staffs (Receptionist/FDA/Housekeeping) 🌟🌟🌟🌟 As we got the suite with Executive Lounge access, we asked one of concierge staffs to bring us to the Executive Lounge to check-in as the front desk was quite full with guests. Although actually the Executive Lounge was yet to handle check-in and check-out, this they gave way to ease up burden of Front Office downstairs. The familiar face of Marysia greeted us cheerfully with a presence of 2 relatively new staffs, namely Nigel and Sarah. We were also greeted by another Hilton KK strongman Mr Kenneth, but felt sad as he told us that this is his final month at Hilton KK as he's gonna move to Kuala Lumpur in August. Marysia was jovial as usual, while Nigel was good. Nigel was actually we've known earlier as he was a concierge some time ago. Maybe because of his experience, he's simply superb and always alert when we try to get his attention. Sarah on the other hand, sometimes quite nervous of greeting and serving us but could maintain her calmness. Evy is okay too, but could be better. Housekeeping was excellent. 🛏😴Room Interior/Cleanliness/Amenities 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This one king bedroom suite on the 9th floor, is in excellent condition although we noticed that the pair of table lamp made of glass usually put in the living area were missing. So that area was a bit dim at night. Sofa bed is working good, we're really satisfied with cleanliness as well. As it was my wife's birthday (requested birthday décor), the hotel went extra mile of decorating the room and giving chocolate pralines, fruits and and slice of cake for her. 🚽🧻Toilet-Cleanliness/Toiletries 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The washroom area clean as usual, housekeeping maintains top-quality cleaning service. The Crabtree & Evelyn brand toilet amenities which is synonym with Hilton brand put in the washroom smell different though, may be it's not Lavender & Verbena anymore and Hilton switched completely to refillable containers (not small travel packs). The shampoo seems not suitable to my wife and I as we developed hair dandruffs after using the shampoo for a few days. So we had to buy new shampoos instead. 🍽Food in Executive lounge 🌟🌟🌟🌟 We are so happy to see that the Executive Lounge resumes serving breakfast again. Even though food selection understandably limited compared to Urban Kitchen (Main restaurant), we can have breakfast with less noise and peace. Food served cocktail hour can be further improved by introducing local food such as light fried mee or rice because these kind of food are absent from the everyday menu during our stay here. Snacks and small canapes are okay though. 🍽Food in main restaurant (Urban Kitchen) 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The first few mornings we had our breakfast here and the restaurant was full of guests especially foreign tourists. I remembered that it was noisier than usual, also the staffs were trying hard to handle the situation. On the other hand, the food spread was good and delicious. Local and international selection is okay, but absence of Indian menu such roti canai/paratha/dhal/samosa is noticeable. Special credit to Alex as he always lend a helping hand during our time of breakdast. 🔵OVERALL STAY 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Hilton Kota Kinabalu remains my top favorite place to stay while spending time either it's business or leisure in Kota Kinabalu. We had a very good time staying here and I personally thankful to the hotel for the splendid complimentary birthday decoration and amenities for my wife. Facilities/Outlets not observed so no reviews given: 1. Gym 2. Rooftop pool bar & grill restaurant 3. The bar Staffs to highlight +ve: 1. Marysia, Miswan, Nigel, Hashimah, Maslan, Stephanie and Sara Eve of Executive Lounge and Front Office are superb. 2. Daveena at Drip cafe is forever fantastic. 3. Alex at Urban Kitchen is super helpful. 4. Kimberly is the best, she did everything she could to make my wife comfortable each time while doing her doctorate assignment in the Lounge! 5. Last but not least, the great Ms. Farrah Jamil. She's simply fabulous and truly dedicated of her work. Truly one of Hilton KK's most valuable gems. Staffs to highlight -ve: 1. Concierge staffs

A great ‘Hilton Hospitality’ and warm welcome by Mr Fadzly ( FDO ) at the front desk during check-in process. The perfect start for me even i’ve reached by late evening. I was served with the welcome drink and cold towel while waiting the process of the room check-in. For me, this kind of hospitality make me feel happy and relax after long journey from Kuala Lumpur. Kudos and thumb up to Mr Fadzly ( FDO ) . The room are elegance, awe-inspiring and sumptious. It was upgraded to the King Executive Suite ( room 412 ) and suite was grand lavish with great comfortable king beds and sofa beds, bath tub with the comfort couple bath robes, coffee machine facilities, small dining hall and last but not least lots of plug for charging phones/tablets. My only concern is the water pressure of the shower rain are slightly low and not as good as in Hilton Kuala Lumpur. This issue may be highlights to the maintenance department for further actions. Kudos Mr Fadzly for the great recognition of my Hilton status and upgrading my room to the best status grand lavish suite. Executive Lounge on the 9th floor was nice, spacious and feel private. It is the best place to relax and do work while enjoying the snacks and drinks. Appreciated and thank you to Mr Nigel and Ms Kimberly for the great hospitality and attentive to me. They are always greet customer with smiles. My only suggestion, management should change the style of the foods selection from small mini portion buffets to the real buffet like in Hilton Kuala Lumpur. The range of beverage like Mocktail drink selections should be added which i believe this kind of Muslim Friendly value added will make us more happy-feet! Breakfast was served in the Urban Grill on the ground floor. A wonderful buffet with a huge range of different cuisines, cooked to order eggs, croissants, juices just to name a few. The staffs are magnificent - so attentive and helpful. Our waitress Nafsiah was superb - professional and thoughtful. A great gym with the steam and the sauna room at the 3rd floor. Lots of space and equipment for those who are gym rat and fitness enthusiasts. The rooftop pool on the 11th floor are stunning and it combine with the Bar and Grill Rooftop Restaurant. ( The best spot to watch the sunset show in Kota Kinabalu ). To be honest, Hilton Kota Kinabalu is among the best 5 stars hotel in Kota Kinabalu with the top-notch services. Definitely, i will repeat staying here for my next staycation. Kudos & thumbs up to the Hilton Kota Kinabalu team. Aramai-Iti Siok Bah!

Back to Great 5 Star hotel. Received a warm greeting from Front desk Manager Farah. She is always nice and great to see her again at Hilton KK. Appreciation and Thank you to executive lounge member especially Miswan, Sarah, Kimberly and Nigel and the rest of the team member that make my trip so memorable. They are so attentive, always greet customer with smiles. They are always there for help. The environment and ambience at executive lounge is so great, it makes ppl feel so free and relax. Breakfast that serve at lobby has a wide spread selection of foods. Pastries are great, Asian food selection is nice and delicious. I like the Pineapple fried rice. Although the breakfast time is super busy, but the staff are still handling well. Swimming pool and gym equipment are keeping in good shape and very clean, however sauna and steam room are out of service this time. Trust me you will love this hotel. For myself, I can’t wait to come back again.
