This hotel is waterfront and then the outpool and restaurant in the 8th floor has a fantastic sea view. I received a room upgrade to a suite which was luxurious and comfortable. Club lounge was on the 15th floor and provided a variety of cuisines at happy hour. Marriott elite members can have free breakfast buffet either in club lounge or in the restaurant next to the pool.

I'm not a fan of big chain hotels, but I liked this one. It was large and comfortable, but without feeling too "corporate". Large room and bathroom with all mod cons, comfy large bed and pillows, WiFi everywhere. Fining Room was good on breakfast buffet in both quantity and quality. Nice large outdoor infinty pool. Location is good too, being close to several shops and shopping malls. Great outdoor market about 500m away

It was a pleasant stay. The room is comfortable with spectacular views. We can stay most hours daytime just looking at the sea. The toilet is clean. Toilet amenities are very complete. On the down side is the noice insulation especially from the glass door to the balcony could be improved. Around 5am I can hear other guests talking loudly/ using mobile phones in their balcony which rendered me awake. Plane are flying through the sky above the hotel which could be the source of noise as well. During daytime, the noise from construction working near the hotel can also be heard. The hospitality from the Mclub team is excellent. The food and beverage ranges during evening cocktails are beyond expectations. We can request for various beverage as long as they have ingredient to make. It really surprised me when I received a kind offer from the Duty Manager Mr Adrian to have an extension of my room check-out time as well as joining the evening cocktail on my check-out day. I really appreciate this as I could get some rest for the sleep interruption in the morning. Overall experience is exceptional. Definitely will consider a revisit.

First time staying in KK Marriott! The comfort and cleanliness or our room exceeded our expectations. Staff are nice and friendly! Smooth check in and check out. Great location. Though we didn't spend too much time in the hotel, we still enjoyed our stay! Definitely will come back for the sea view room!

Magnificent mountain and ocean view . Highly recommended. I suggest 13th floor ( corner room if your budget will allow ) . The balcony is a vantage point to watch New Year’s Eve fireworks. Club room ( rooftop ) access is perfect for night drinks and finger food. Breakfast selection is huge . Overall , five star all the way . Shops are nearby . Airport is about twenty minutes by taxi . Allow 2-3 hours to check in at airport during Christmas. Immigration is about 30-40 minutes wait . I highly recommend Christmas and nye buffet 👍

Upon arrival in the hotel, I was greeted by the concierge/bellman who was friendly to me. The purpose of the visit was to attend a conference which allowed me to visit the ballroom which was quite impressive and new. The favourite part of the conference was the washroom which had a floor to ceiling window with a view of the famous KOTA Kinabalu sunset. The buffer lunch options were sufficient enough for my standards but could further improve upon by increasing the dessert option. Overall, Marriot kota kinabalu is a suitable place for conferences in the city.

Most followers of my travel have constantly asked me why I am such a Marriott ‘Addict’, and keep exclusively staying at Marriott properties wherever I travel. The answer to this question has always been ‘Personalized Luxury’ - especially based on recent experiences at the MARRIOTT outlets of the chain in Macedonia, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. This Marriott is one more addition to this lovely league of hotels that deliver Luxury not just in the form of materialistic things(like amenities, facilities, decor etc.) but also in terms of super personalized and highly attentive Hospitality(the tallest form of Luxury in my opinion). Right from the minute we arrived at the hotel to our departure, we were greeted, treated, and taken care of by folks who knew who were, and addressed us by our names. This happened probably because we are very unique Marriott loyalists, but I would like to assume they shower most of their guests with this kind of hospitality. A stay at this place was an absolute delight, and easily one of the top highlights of our recent trip to Borneo! LOCATION: Beautiful location right on the waterfront with easy access to all the nearby bars, cafes, and restaurants as well as all key points of interest. DINE + DRINK: Just like any other Luxury Marriott, this property comes loaded with multiple F &B options including the KITCHEN that serves excellent local, regional, and international cuisine. The highlight in my opinion was the stunning rooftop bar that comes with million-dollar views of the waterfront and nature. Great place for a sexy sundowner! The executive lounge(accessible to Elite members) also comes loaded with stunning views and an amazing Happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30. We were spoilt for choices during our stay on which place to spend our evenings at! Good problem to have during a holiday, no?! The Breakfast at the KITCHEn restaurant was an elaborate affair with the menu ranging from Malaysian(Chinese, Malay and Indian origin specialities) to International dishes. An indulgent meal absolutely worth waking up for! ROOM: We stayed in Room 1340, which was an OCEAN VIEW SUITE, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Huge suite with a large separate living room(that comes with a nice dining area and a large couch) and a bigger Bedroom area (with a gorgeous corner couch where you can lounge all day long soaking in mindblowing views of the ocean). It almost felt like a luxury apartment home than a hotel suite!; VIEW: Spectacular views of the Sea and the picture-perfect islands floating atop the waters; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Excellent Spa quality Toiletries by THISWORKS brand. FACILITIES: Compact but fully loaded Gym with a good range of weights, workstations, and Cardio machines by MATRIX brand - good enough for a decent workout. Lovely Infinity pool with sweeping views of the ocean and the pretty islands, great for a full-on aqua workout or chilled-out lounging. SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of like Celebrities! Special Shout-out to NAFEEZAH (the Front Office Manager) for a very warm welcome experience. ADRIAN (the Manager of the Club lounge) and his friendly team(Chef Rommy Romiu and staff member Jamie Kong ) for hosting us at the lounge and attending to all our needs with a big smile. A big thanks also to REGINA at the KITCHEN restaurant for attending to all our special dietary requirements attentively! HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Highly wired suites/rooms that are digitally optimized for modern devices with plenty of USB ports all over the room. Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is around 25 Mbps. Medium-sized Plasma TV in each room dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages

TLDR: Double standard procees leading to a very poor check-in experience. I confirmed my stay & performed my mobile check-in at 1030 with estimated arrival time at 1600. I arrived at the hotel around 1610 and completed my check-in around 1620. So far so good. I was told that my room is ready and housekeeping needs to check & sanitize the room. It is unclear to me on why the room needs to be resanitized if housekeeping has already prepared the room & the room was ready. I was told that I have to wait for a maximum of 20 minutes before the room key can be given. Since I am not in a hurry, i think this request is fair enough. Since the lobby is full, I have to wait without proper seat just in front of the desk. While waiting, i can see that other guests that is in the check-in line received their room key immediately. I consider this as strange but maybe they have already check-in prior to my arrival. After approximately attending 7 guests, one of the front desk officer question a couple which confirmed that they have not performed any mobile check-in prior to this. The couple were then attended and given their room key prior to me. After all the guest have been given their room key (please note that the lobby is empty at this point), I came back to the front desk to request my room key. I was told that my room is ready at this point. I questioned the front desk officer on why i was kept waiting for 30 minutes while all other guests immediately received their room key. At this point, i was quite angry at the double standard treatment and i was being quite rude with both the front desk officers. I apologized for this. The front desk officer did apologized but did not provide a reasonable justification on the double standard treatment during the check-in process.

Spacious, clean room with good design. The sliding doors provide flexibility. Great view esp at the rooftop bar and buffet restaurant. Location is good however can hear motorbike noises at night as along main road. Gym is well equipped and spacious. Strange lobby layout with classroom tables and chairs facing entrance. Counter staff can be more friendly. Good value stay for 5 star hotel.
