I don't think this is a bad hotel, but it has more of a "Hostel" feeling then a hotel. I guess this place used to be quite fancy, but don't expect that now, most pictures look dated. I used this hotel for my first day arrival and last day in Sabah. It is not expensive and it offers a shuttle to the airport. (although the last day my driver had issues, so I took a grab instead) Also they have a 24 hour reception, so when I arrived at 01:00 in the morning, I could just walk in. When I arrived they knew who I was, so that was nice. The rooms are basic and not clean. Wifi was very slow on level 3 (first stay) but was OK on lever 2 (last day). Breakfast is simple. You hear airplanes flying over frequently. The area has not much to offer, so just use this hotel as a gateway for the airport and you will be fine.…
A small cosy hotel that is clean and very quiet because it is small. I booked a "Double Standard" room that was the first room from the staircase and I rarely heard anything. A 50MYR refundable deposit is required upon check-in. Toilet has shampoo provided if you need. The desk had two 500ml bottles of water for my consumption. 8-10 minutes from the airport with complimentary airport shuttle service that can be arranged. Many eateries around that sells cheap local food with convenience stalls around as well. You will hear planes flying by every hour or so, but it has never bothered me. There isn't much to do in the morning in this area, life kicks up more from noon onwards. For the price, I loved my 1 night stay here. If I'm ever back in the tanjung aru area, I will choose this hotel again.…
It is not a negative title actualy. This hotel suprise me with the comfortable room and price worth it. Even this hotel didn’t have the elevator and using old key lock style but still the room is more important to me. Suitable with the price and the rating. Surrounded by restaurant and 24/7 shop. Near to go to the airport too. For one night stay here, it’s very satisfied me.
1. Not expecting much out from it but do expect good housekeeping. Except the last day after returning fr my Borneo Ultra Trail Race, i found that some rubbish was not thrown away. Well, they can do better next time. 2. As for room was abit smelt due to the curtain (thicker fabric to void the sun - so at first i thought was the mossy smell from carpet however it wasnt. I left the curtain opened so that Sun will shone in and dry up the moisture .. yes somehow the smell become lesser compared to 1st night.. 4. Noise expecially plane flying across - that they cant control for sure.. so bear with it once you zzzzzzzz... 5. Walking aBIT distance to seaside - hmm, hawker centre likely in the process of building up (but it doesnt look like it). Got some sideway food stall selling junkies but taste good okie. 6. near airport ... 7. 20-30mins to the main city .. 8. bed is hard, can feel the spring 9. pilliow too low .. well, i got neck pain till now.. 10. Overall thumbs up.. i am happy to stay there and will be back to stay there..…
Recommended budget hotel for flight transit & provides free airport transport. But not excellent for overnight stay because of poor room cleanliness, its budget hotel after all. The room is small & the frosted glass bathroom is not ideal unless you are staying solo
Extremely close to the airport, so you can hear the planes fly right over the building. Rooms are very small and dated. The airport pick up did not go smoothly and I had to ring them several times before anyone turned up. For the same money, you should be able to get something better downtown.
We only stayed here for five hours in between late night and early morning flights. There was a little mix up with our shuttle service pick up, but this was probably a good thing as we got a Grab taxi for RM7, which was great compared to the RM32 it would have cost for the shuttle service. It is worth noting that this is the cost for out of hours, and we did get the shuttle for free back to the airport at 5am. Definitely, do not take the airport taxi service as we were quoted RM38. The hotel is located only 5-10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu Airport, and this is perfect for brief stopovers. The room was not very nice and needed an urgent refurbishment. However, it’s main issue is the cleanliness. Just because it is a budget hotel does not mean that it has to be dirty! Pretty pleased to only have had to stay here for a few hours! …
We had 12 daytime hours in Kota and had difficulty finding somewhere to spend the time and stow our bags, but the Crown gave us a day room and were very flexible and helpful. The room was small but with all necessary facilities - bathroom, aircon, kettle, TV and internet. It's close to the airport and they provided free transfers too.
The Crown Borneo Stayed: 1st December - 2nd December 2017. *** Hotel *** Basic Accommodation good for a 1 Night Stay and Airport Access. Little Cafe beneath it all. 10 minutes to the Airport *** The Staff *** Very welcoming and anything they could do to make our stay better, they did! Organised Airport Shuttle for a very early morning flight. *** The Room *** Basic Room very small however sufficient OK Bathroom needs some attention though FREE Wifi Air Conditioning Kettle and Free Water Clean Comfy Bed Clean Warm Shower with OK Pressure TV with good channels *** Area *** In a run down area. A few Restaurants around and shops opposite. It was an OK Hotel just needs more attention to the little things. 5/10
This hotel is located close to the airport with shuttle service provided and it comes with a very competitive price tag. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the rooms are dated, somewhat dirty, untidy and stuffy. Based on reviews below from fellow contributors here am sure some of the rooms have non functional water heaters (including mine). Only consider this place if there are no other options around.
