We stayed for 2 nights as a family of 4. Our room was clean and large but was in need of a touch up. In fact the whole resort is in. We’d of maintenance and I wonder if this is the case for many places we stayed at that just have not recovered after the Covid lockdown period? The beach was fantastic and we hired boards and went surfing both days. The staff were excellent and plenty of food options available. I would come back here again

Stayed here in 2006,07,08,20,23 and now again December 23. The staff are very friendly and try their best but the hotel needs serious maintenance improvements. A few things are well maintained but overwhelming most of the hotel is not. Many things are broken/cracked/rusted. I am guessing this was mainly down to covid however it needs a serious revamp. It looks absolutely nothing like it used to. The hotel is a ghost town in comparison.

Beware avoid of that resort. Generally his hotel is for golfers only. This is not meant for ordinary tourists. The once prestigious and beautiful hotel is absolutely outdated, showing signs of poor maintenance in every corner. We stayed there 3 nights with my group of 18 person. Three reasons why I do not recommended this resort: 1. Location- there is very far from the city, nothing are around the hotel- no shops, no restaurants (just some restaurants at the hotel). From Kota Kinabaly on morning and noon time to get from the city to hotel could be 1h plus, on midday or late evening 30 min. at least; 2. The swimming at the sea is extremely unpleasant due it has very dirty so often including a huge waves; 3. All amenities, facilities are totally updated. For example: we have ( at least 3 rooms) problem with an electronic keys of doors. The main weekness is worse soondproofing inside the rooms when for exapmle new guests have been checked in on very late evening (from 28.-29.11. on 00:30am the small group was checked in and disturbing due of the noises (luggage rolling at the wooden floor) was awful. It was disaster, the same was night before.

The best thing is the attention and kindness of the staff. Dayana stands out, who always attended us with excellent predisposition and always smiling. If there is something to improve it is the promptness of the service at the beach restaurant, very slow, impossible to go in groups. The spa is highly recommended

After a long period (three years!) of no travel thanks to Covid, I was desperate for a comfortable and relaxing stay near a beach, and Nexus was perfect for this. I booked on their website, which had extras that were not advertised elsewhere, such as 20% discount off spa treatments and one complimentary high tea in addition to a daily buffet breakfast. We went for the Ocean Panorama Premier, which had a beautiful view of the resort grounds, beach and sea from the balcony. The sky at sunset was breathtaking. The king size bed was comfy, and the water pressure in the shower and the air-conditioning were excellent. The spa, located in a separate building close by, was peaceful and very tastefully decorated, and the massage therapists, facilities and service were top-notch! I wish I'd gone more than twice... It was lovely to lounge by the pool, although it was sometimes difficult to find deckchairs, and on one occasion they had run out of beach towels by late morning. If you wanted a change of scenery, it was a short walk down to the beach which had soft white sand and crystal clear water! There was usually no trouble finding available deck chairs in the shade, but maybe we were just lucky with our timing. Using the hotel app Roomie, I could communicate with the hotel staff via text about small miscellaneous items we needed like extra towels, water, coffee sachets etc; all requests were promptly and obligingly dealt with. In person, the resort staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, but the above-and-beyond moment was when I asked if they could hold some items for me from the gift shop as I had tried but failed to find similar items in town, and by the time we came back I knew the shop would be closed. When we came back, they actually *opened the shop* for me at 10.30pm. There are a few areas of improvement I can think of that I'm hoping the resort can take note of, but only because I know it would make the stay even more incredible: 1 - While by no means bad at all, the food at The Penyu (the restaurant where guests had their inclusive buffet breakfast, and the option of a buffet dinner) will not be winning awards any time soon. Same for the food at The Sunset Bar - totally decent, but not amazing. Perhaps their other restaurants would have been very good, but we unfortunately did not get to try them. However, if you 're willing to travel into town (about 30-45 mins by car), we really enjoyed the food (especially the freshly caught seafood!) in the various night markets. 2 - Part of what makes Nexus so amazing is its location, far away from the bustling city centre. It was easy enough to get a taxi to take us to town and back, but perhaps regular shuttle services into town would be useful for some guests who might want to enjoy a bit of city action and nightlife! 3 - The rooms were very comfortable, but smelled slightly musty as though they had been unused for a while. 4 - The poolside bar was not open while we were there, which meant we had to go to the gift shop to buy drinks. Nexus would have made a killing from guests ordering drinks by the pool, and also the beach, if there had been staff around to take their orders! 5 - We couldn't get the TV in our room to work properly. 6 - We would often see trays with dirty plates left outside rooms for hours (e.g. if someone ordered room service the night before, the tray was left outside their room and would still be there when we came back from breakfast the following morning). Perhaps the resort is still recovering from Covid ,and is yet to return to what would have been, I assume, its former glory. It felt a bit tired and run down in parts, but I stress that none of these were deal breakers and I would absolutely return as, overall, it was such a lovely place to spend 5 days. I would totally recommend Nexus to anyone looking for a beachside resort.

We checked in around 3pm, to a room that was baking hot inside. We tried to be positive that it was the weather. informed front desk, staff told us to not switch on the fan while AC was on. While cooling the room, we went for a walk and dinner. Came back and our nightmare began. Room was still baking hot, staffs was attending rudely, even shouted back at me. Cut everything short. At almost 11pm (yes, with a sleepy 8 month old) we managed to get into another room that was at the very far end, has a functioning AC but everything was musty - pillow, bed sheet, carpet, toilet. Staff drove us to the block, but did not offer help with our luggages. Except for the warm pool, everything else was bad. Worst.

We first booked for the spa villa, checked in at 3pm, and when we got to the unit, nothing worked, doors couldn't be opened, flush in bith toilets does not work, the odour was foul and mouldy, the air conditioner was in dire need of cleaning and service, the refrigerator does not work and the freezer was disgusting. There was a big spider to welcome us, and the floors felt grimy. After addressing this, we asked if we could move to the Pool Villas instead. Took them awhile to sort this out and by the time we they said yes, it was 4pm. They told us to return to our initial unit and wait for their phone call in 15 minutes. 20 minutes passed and we had to call reception to ask what is happening. They said another 20 minutes. 25 minutes later we had to call again and they again asked to wait for another 20 minutes. We were so frustrated, we asked for the unit number so we can make our way there and get the key from the bell boy directly instead of him coming to us. It was 5pm when we finally managed to get into our room. While the unit looked better, many things were not functioning as well. The Aircond was leaking. The door handles came off, the flush wouldn't work in one of the baths (called them to fix it and it flushed once and now the tank wouldn't fill as it continues flushing all the time and leaking!), the bath door were hard to open, little kids kept getting stuck inside. The tap handle came off, the doors to the pool was so hard to open, the floors were dusty feeling, the pool's filter does not work, the fridge stinks, cuttleries were only for 2 when the unit is clearly for 4, the TV cable does not work, there was clearly no WIFI, the outdoor furnitures were falling apart, AND we found 7 cockroaches during our one night stay, and this is not an exaggeration! I cannot, for the life of me, understand how NEXUS could allow these units to be booked for anyone's leisure! It was not worth the price and very very disappointing. Take heed when booking with Nexus especially for their Spa and Pool units. We were also told that the pool near theae units were closed for the few houra because of the rain we got earlier in the day. But the bellboy who passed us the keya said that it has been closed for months now, and the reasons were so conflicting, it infuriates me being lied too by the reception. It is either they have no idea or they just didn't want to deal with the fact that the hotel was not able to deliver what their company promises. Never coming here again!

Played golf at Karambunai golf club and stayed at the Nexus Resort for the night. The golf course is in excellent condition with well maintained fairways and greens. We stayed here many years ago when they first opened. We booked a seaview room with club benefit and this recent stay was terrible with pocket of excellence. The good part was the reception staff Franz who must be the most efficient, friendly and helpful staff in the resort. He was busy entertaining complaints from guests with a smile. The staff at Noble House restaurant, Mei and Asqina were equally good. Had dinner at the chinese restaurant and food was decent with good service and nice ambience. The rest of the resort was terrible. Unfriendly staff with long faces. The furniture in our room was dated and feels ancient and dirty. Toilet has stains and aircond turns cold and hot regularly. Balcony sliding door lock was not working. Room and toilet not well equipped. We could not sleep the whole night with door bell ringing twice at 1.00am, strange noises throughout the night and birds chirping at 4.00am. Breakfast was no better with insufficient tables and chairs. Coffee machine was not working and quality of food poor. Minimal staff working and not helpful. We could not wait to leave the place. A place to avoid

Beautiful hotel and amazing staff. We just spent our first night here and have two adjoining rooms overlooking the ocean. Our rooms are recently renovated and large. Staff have gone out of their way to help us and the chef even offered to make hash browns and bacon especially for our group. Breakfast choice has a good variety of options... something for everyone. Plenty of activities on offer too. The beach is beautiful and the sea is warm! The hotel isnt that busy at the moment… some maintenance and work is required but this is possibly due to the impact of covid on tourism … it hasnt impacted our stay. We would recommend a creative update of the bar… outside is rattan furniture and palms which makes it look quite classy and inviting…. inside the decor is very dated and does not do the hotel justice ( apart from the tile floor which is beautiful.) Simply exchanging the furniture inside for a rattan style and adding some palm plants and photos or paintings celebrating the Sabah culture would create a much nicer environment.
