I like its location because it is close to the Signal Hill (the stairs leading to it is less than a block away). It is also very close to the Filipino Sunday Market and the boardwalk. Breakfast was adequate enough to fill you up for an action-packed day.

Stayed in this hotel two times in july 2006, first time got quite nice room at 7th floor, clean, nice double bed, plenty of hot water, only the view outside the windows was poor, overall a pleasant stay. we decided to get back after a week, but it was a wrong decision! we got a small room, on the 3rd floor, just above the karaoke bar where people were singing loud untill 2 a.m. so we could not sleep. room was small, not clean as the first, and there was no hot water during all the two days of our stay. there was no other room available in the hotel so we had to remain there. breakfast was average, buffet with not much choice, just a few things. concluding, i would not reccomed this hotel, in my opinion hotels should guarantee their standard always and in all room, also beacuse the price of the two rooms was the same.
greetings from italy!

The breakfast food was ok and the coffee faired well compared to other KK establishments we visited. The juices were really good when available.

However what makes this place worth a visit is the service. Manuel is alive in KK. We laughed so much over breakfast.

We arrived to join a friend for breakfast. We ordered, 2 cafe latte's plus 2 juices (orange and carrot). We also ordered three breakfasts: one hash-brown with baked beans; one portion of baked beans; and one egg on toast.

After many minutes and confused conversations going on around us, Manuel came to advise that he had no oranges (btw it was Chinese New Year and there are oranges everywhere except here!). Therefore we changed our order to one carrot juice and one melon juice. We also noted that in his hand he had our order which had no coffee but 2 teas. Therefore we asked that he change this back to the latte's we had ordered.

A while later our juice (or not juice arrived). Instead of melon juice we got a plate of melon which was proudly place on our table with a smile. We accepted graciously and ate the melon.

It was at this point Manuel asked my wife if she wanted her breakfast on one plate. Yes she replied, as that seemed appropriate for hash-brown and beans.

Then the latte's arrived. However, unlike previous days, they were sweetened. Why was sugar added today? Anyway, I drank both and we ordered another without sugar.

By this point we were chuckling to ourselves but the best was still to come. Out of the kitchen came our THREE breakfasts - yep you guessed, all on one plate with three sets of cutlery. Again, we graciously accepted and tucked in. He must have thought it very strange that we shared the plate, whether he twigged his mistake, I will never know.

Next our bill was presented with a lovely smile. It included: two juices plus the melon; and toast which we are still waiting for. We paid, smiled to ourselves and left. What a fun start to the day. I suspect we may feature on some game for a laugh type TV program any time soon.

I stay at Kinabalu Daya Hotel for a duration of 1 week in Jun 2014 for a business trip. Not just first time but for few time before this.

I choose this hotel due to location which is really centrally located, walking distance to various eating outlet, local shop, shopping mall, also to the Kinabalu Jetty where one took boat to Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park.

Room is so so, alright, reasonably spacious, room rate include breakfast and is served at the pub, lounge restaurant serving local menu.

I stayed here for 2 nights. The first day I checked in into my room , I was disgusted when I saw there were pubic hairs on the bathroom floor!!! I was utterly and totally disgusted, who would want to step on other people's pubic hair right?. For me,the housekeeping did not do a very clean job. As a person, for me hygiene is very important . I asked the receptionist if she could help me to check in my flight and she told me that I can do it by myself using the pc that they provided in the lobby. They charged me rm2 for using the pc for less than a minute and printing a piece of paper. When I asked the receptionist at the counter , I think her name is Connie, she whispered to her other colleague first then just told me how much is the price I have to pay . Looking by their actions, they were also not so sure and I feel cheated . I know rm2 is not much for some of you, but as a guest I don't like to be cheated. I think my first experience here didnt went so well. Even though this hotel is in a strategic location, I wouldn't want to stay in a hotel where the staffs make me feel like I've been cheated.

Best Western Hotel of Kota Kinabalu has not the Best Western standard you may expect. The hotel has a pub at the entrance with karaoke which will keep you awake till one in the night.

Even if rooms seem good and are recently renovated most of rooms have no windows and three among my friends (we where 14) were bitten by bedbug during the night.

Take care!!!

From check in till departure, I felt like I was staying in a motel with no service at all. Hotel is old & in desperate need of refurbishment. Lift door is so small that big luggages get stuck going in! Hotel room is small and smells musky. Toilet is small, dirty and tiles were stained. Bedsheets have stains, pillows flat & bed springs poke out like a sore nightmare. Room fridge sticks out because it doesn't fit under the old tv cabinet. There is only an old box tv with only a few snowy channels. No bedroom slippers or basic toiletries. Internet is always not working. And to make matters worse, staff don't seem bothered to work or either don't understand English. Front desk manager Mr Musyadi had to be "requested" when I wanted to.complain. He initially told coffeehouse staff Ms Hayati, "why should I come out to see the guest?" And only when I got upset, did he walk over. Without any manners to apologise or attempt to understand my problems, he merely showed me that his laptop internet was working fine & blamed the problem on my company laptop having access issues. When internet suddenly worked, he just pushed the laptop back to me & walked off. Without a word! This is by far the worst attitudeI have seen in a hotel manager. So in conclusion, thiswill be my 1st n last time to step foot here. Others please be aware n choose wisely.

We stayed on Friday 3rd Feb, as part of a large group, the night before our trip up Mount Kinabalu. Having stayed in this hotel before, I was expecting basic but clean accommodation - not a suprise night-time visitor.

We were staying in room 910 when I woke at about 3am to a rustling sound which I tried to ignore blaming it on the air-con moving some papers around. The noise continued & I tried to convince myself that it couldn't be what I feared most! However, after switching on the light we saw a very large rat (about 10 inches long with a tail as big) scurrying into the gap by the fridge and then watched with horror as it scuttled up the curtains and disappeared into the roof or out of a gap by the window somewhere. I discovered that it had been eating one of my energy bars that I had bought for the following day!!

We phoned reception & they immediately agreed to move us. We were taken to a room on the 2nd floor which the night porter then spent 10 minutes trying to open the door with a key card. We then convinced him to move us to the 3rd room of the night on the first floor. When we arrived there the air-con was not on and it was stiflingly hot. We had to wait about 15 mins for the room to cool down enough to sleep.

Our trip leader spoke to reception in the morning and they didn't appear particularly bothered about anything! Throughout the whole experience no-one apologised to us!

Unfortunately, we had to return on Sunday after our descent from the mountain. They had forgotten all about the incident until our trip leader insisted that they upgraded us. We then had a very nice suite for the Sunday night with no nocturnal visitors, but unfortunately the damage had been done & I shan't be staying there again!

I stayed here for 4 nights, while making it a base to take day trips from Kota Kinabalu. The location is great, walking distance to the ferrys, night markets, lots of restaurants, transportation, etc. The room was fine... clean and everything worked... but the one thing you have to be careful about is the loud noise from the nightclub/bar downstairs. They blast the music until maybe 1 or 2 AM, and it can be heard up through the elevator shaft and stairwells almost to the top floor. If you get a room on a high floor, on the far side, away from where the nightclub is, the rooms are quiet. It's possible with the thin room door closed, you might not hear or be bothered by the loud music, but it's loud and clear in the hallways on the lower floors. The staff were very polite and friendly, and helped out nicely. There is one internet station in the lobby, and several inexpensive internet cafes within a block away. The breakfast was only fair, at best. There is a large shopping center across the street, open til 9 pm, with hundreds of shops, many very inexpensive. Nearby the hotel are many restaurants in all price categories, including the Hyatt Hotel, which had great buffets at good prices for great quality.

Downtown Kota Kinabalu is a great place to base yourself for sightseeing trips.
