I picked this hostel for the location and price we was traveling around Asia for a couple of weeks, the price was £100 we had two rooms four people for 4 nights, the owners was so nice the give us free cans of pop with our breakfast and even drop us of at the airport at the end of the stay for free
I stayed at the single room with private bathroom and it was a good option (no windows though). The hostel is well located, at about a 15 minute walk to the see front and close to a mall with a good food court and air conditioning. Staff was friendly and booked me a tour to visit the Weston Wetlands. The tour was great but be prepared to seat on a bus for a long time as you will get picked up first and then all other tourists will also be picked up before leaving. Nevertheless, it is worth it! Amazing sunset and 3 monkey species (proboscis, long-tailed macaques and silver leaf).
I would recommend this place for a city tour in Kota Kinabalu, their area was near to the central market, Atkinson tower, etc., The facility was very nice, its very comfortable, if you want to have a silent time just go down to lobby. The front desk personnel were very helpful, especially Kuya Jay, who gives us tips to the city places and our trip to Brunei. Enjoy your stay!
First, I would like to point out that this is a HOSTEL, not a HOTEL... so this place is not for the "hotel people".For a backpacker type of traveler like my group, this hostel is a paradise :-) . The rooms is very basic, you have a bed (which is comfy) , there is a bath/CR within the room & aircon. Towel is also provided. And there is a shower gel/shampoo provided too. The breakfast is nice too. The owner and the staff (JAY!!!!) ARE SO NICE!!! Jay really assisted us all the way. There are a lot of eating places nearby (indian restos & KFC) . There is also 7/11 nearby. The mall is walking distance, and so is the seafood resto. The sunday market is not far away too. I would surely stay there again if ever I would comeback to KK... highly recommended indeed!!
Very clean for what you are paying. (My fiance has high standards of cleanliness and was impressed). The staff will bend over backwards to help you out. We ended up staying in a private room for 10 days!
Everything experience great. Service great. Near to great place so you can only walk there. Morning breakfast is good. Not a five star hotel but this is great if u planning to go on vacation instead laying in bed all day. So this is the place.
4 bunks in my dorm, each with their own locker that was big enough to get a rucksack in. Metal bunk beds were sturdy if a little firm. The room was air-con and had its own ensuite shower/wc which was nice. The rooms have sophisticated card-key locks. Rm35 per night. Convenient for downtown KK without being in the city centre.
I stayed here for three nights. The staff is amazing, helping you out with everything. Fida works at the reception and you can ask her everything. She organized massage and patches for my wound. She was taking care of me like a Malaysian mother ;) The owner is very nice is well. Asking how I feel whenever he saw me. Thanks for the nice stay! I enjoyed hanging out with the staff a lot. I definitely recommend coming here if you are in kk.
Halo Hostel is a great place to stay and it is clean. Other than that, the staffs are very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend it to my friends and family on their trip to Kota Kinabalu!!
Halo Hostel is a good place to stay, location and budget wise. The room is well kept, lobby, restroom and kitchen is always clean and breakfast was served on time. Hotel staff are very helpful and accommodating. They have gone the extra mile to assist us in our even when our booking was made months in advance. Thank you Jay, Didi and Xiu for making our trip fun and easy, and for keeping your hostel prepped all the time. We will definitely stay at Halo Hostel again!
