The entire floor are power failure for around 1 hours at evening around 9pm. The entire room is black out and no air con. This is the evening before our Kuching Marathon, because we need to wake up 2am morning so we need to rest early, due to no air con, and the power jumper is jump more than 5 time after power recovery, we deciced to move out the hotel and share the room with our other friends at other hotel.

Nice reception and friendly staff but rooms are worn out - okay by back packer standards but go else where for quality. Hot water takes forever in the morning plug doesn't work waste water sprays on you as you empty sink. Towels are brown room smelt damp. Reasonable location for museums and waterfront.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! we were greeted by a doorman/security guard who opened the door and blew cigarette smoke in our faces, the receptionist chewed gum while checking us in and talking to us. the security guy then became porter as he showed us to our room but made no attempt to take the bag, infact laughed that it was his job to carry it. he led us into a dingy room, dirty carpet, cigarette burn in the bedspread, scuffed walls and badly scratched and marked furniture. we could not walk around the bed as one piece was so strangely placed we presumed it must be covering up something worse. we asked to be shown another room which turned out to be in the same state but smaller. the bathroom was uninviting and something was leaking water over the floor. the toilet flush handle was broken. on the up side, the sheets were clean but the pillow was like a brick. we moved to the Merdeka Palace just down the road for about 20RM a day more. it's undergoing some big refurb so i think our cheaper room reflected the price, but it was still miles and miles better than the Borneo.

Me and my boyfrind stayed in this hotel 3 night , but just because all the others hotels were full. I've found the Borneo hotel dirty ( the bathroom was terrible an also without hot water). We also had the bad idea to see under the bed and we found everything... During our stay the staff was not so helpful and polite. Kuching has a lot of hotels and guest houses chiper and nice, so it' s better to look for an other hotel.

dark, dingy rooms, hotel lacked charisma or business feel and staff were not very helpful. Very expensive compared the lovely hostel we stayed at just down the road which was far better value for money - don't follow the guide books and go to Borneo Hotel, it's not worth it!

We only stayed 1 nigt in this hotel even though we had booked 2 nights. We went to Kuching during the International music festival, which meant that most hotels were fully booked and we had to pay the full 130RM (without breakfast) for our room as the hotel would not offer any discount. Our plane arrived late and we checked in at 9PM, with no problems whatsoever. The hotel lobby looked relatively nice for this sort of hotel, so we went into our room quite confident it would be okay. It is difficult to describe the smell we were welcomed with when the porter opened our room. It was a mixture of stale cigarette, sweat, and mouldiness. Saying that the room was not clean would be somewhat of an understatement (check pictures), stains and crumbs on the carpets, stains on the bed covers and sheets, grey pillow cases, mouldy toilet seat, bath tub and sink area and very dirty floor in the bathroom. On top of being dirty, the bed was fairly small for 2 people to sleep in and very uncomfortable. The air con emitted a disgusting smell and made the room very damp, we realised why in the morning when we opened the 'window' (again, check the pictures) as it faced another room, inside the hotel, so no fresh air at all! We have stayed in some very basic accommodation in the past (and way cheaper) but it has always been clean. I would strongly recommend to stay in other hotels in Kuching (check my other hotel review in Kuching). Just to finish on a positive touch: it is near some nice bars/restaurants and quite close to the river.

We found this hotel in our guide books and were initially quite pleased with our selection. We stayed here four nights. The room with two double beds was clean, the beds quite comfortable, the air conditioning efficient at drying out the room and keeping it bearable, the bathroom clean and modern, and the staff very friendly and helpful. But then.... our last night, some critter appeared on the desk right next to the head of one of the beds and started to help himself to some crackers we had left out. My startled scream as I emerged from a deep sleep sent him into hiding before we could turn on the lights. He re-emerged at least once more during the night and we put the trash can in the hallway and sealed up and stashed away any signs of food. We never saw him. We would like to think it was just a field mouse, though he sounded rather large and clunky. Had it not been for this incident, we would have given this otherwise lovely hotel a rating of 5.
