Fata is a boutique hotel which had undergone major refurbishment as introduced by their friendly staff. Tv box is a plus for my noisy kids. They even provide extra towels and drinking water. Definitely worth the value. There is a 7eleven shop just next door. We had a rental car and the staff also reserved a space for us when we come back.

Hai, I m back, Stayed at Fata Hotel by place to stay during just concluded Kuching Marathon. We choose this Hotel is because the location is near to the Padang Merdeka where the START/FINISH for the Kuching Marathon. The building it self is an iconic and historical in nature, it has been there for ages, the hotel was my dad choice of accommodation where ever he travel to Kuching during his service days. Back to my review, the check in process a bit slow, when we arrived the receptionist was not at the counter the counter was manned by a men I believed one of the staff but not a receptionist. There are a number of us at the counter, most of it is the runners (i believe) The check in counter is near the 7E and you have to walk towards the end of the building where the lift lobby is located. It a little troublesome for elderly and those with luggage. We are made to wait for may be 5 minute before we finally get our rooms keys. As a runner who went from event to event we want to have a rest before our run and getting to wait for the rooms are just not right. The room that we stayed are not that specious but it is big enough for a family of 6. The amenities are very basic, there is no complimentary coffee and Tea but there is 4 bottle drinking water. I don t take note of any soap but there is shower gel, that should be good enough. The linens are old and it time to be replace. the mattress are new and a little bit hard. The air conditioner works well for a small room. it had two unit actually. There is are opaque glass panel/ mirror that stand directly in the shower cubicle which had no privacy at all. Should take that thing off. The lift are old but it still do his job, the room looks like it has gone major works / renovation but the workmanship are a bit shoddy. The wall are not smooth and the smell of the paint still lingers around. The rooms that we stayed is facing the Red Crescent Building and St. Thomas School. The noise level is basically zero. Tips to choose the rooms, choose the one that facing the St. Thomas Secondary School. The staircase are all lock with metal grill, please do not put the guest life in danger in the event of emergency such as fire. Trip advisor please let the property notified. when reaching our floor we had to walk across an open air well which is not properly made / construct it put that way is because you see the other room window and there is an awning on the wall, it does not looks presentable at all. Over all the stay are good, the wifi are weak. Hardly get connected.

Stayed here for 4 nights, just for the rainforest music festival. The location is good in terms of walking distance. Everything is within walking distance. You can get to the waterfront, Padang Merdeka and Carpenter street in about 5 to 10 minutes of walking. There is a 7-Eleven just below the hotel. If you like bars and late night drinks, it is located near many of these. However, due to its close proximity to the bars and late night entertainment outlets, if you are a light sleeper, the noise may bother you. I got back from the festival around midnight (it was a weekend) and the sound can be heard clearly at my room. In the morning, during the weekday, you can also hear the sounds of school children screaming and making noises during recess. So the location is good in terms of getting anywhere, however the noise level may be uncomfortable to some. The room cleanliness was so-so. The pillows and sheets had stains on them and the walls looked like it needs to be repainted. Bathroom is a bit small. There is a hot water dispenser on the second floor. The hotel also provide two complimentary bottles of 500ml mineral water.

So far the room is quite okay for me. Walking distance to a nearby shopping mall is near, some old streets along the way with alot of cafes. The room that was provided to us wasn't well cleaned. There's a tiny spider mingling on the bed, room were dusty and and furniture are old. The only thing I like about the room is the air-con. Strong and cold enough to beat the city heat. Area is too noisy to have a good night sleep.

Good. 1) good location 2) average price 3) good internet 4) very convenience (close to restaurant, convenient store, and attractions) 5) comfortable bed Bad 1) No security at night to watch who coming in and out 2) not safe as the area quite dark and lot of people loitering around 3) Staff not so friendly. no smile. 4) boring tv channels. 5) low water pressure in our room (we have to flush many times!) Overall, average. Recommended if you dont mind such things.

Good 1) walking distance 5 min to Main Bazaar and eatimg outlet 2) Cheaper 3) Do have 3 bed in a room (Although that what I needed Bad 1) was given at old block. Family felt insecure in and out from the block especially at night. Lobby its dark and often no security around to see who come In and out the main door 2) split air cond but was told no remote. So either you are hoping you have thick blanket or you switch off 3) Tv channle blur. Dont expect you have hbo or national geographic. Oh ya no flat screen. Box tv 4) bathroom door rotten. Tissue was used to close the toilet peeping door 5) oh ya the main entrace door do havr peeping hole. Supposed meant for safety purpose but again was poke in with tissue 6) balcony door do have lock but the wondow next to it doesnt have lock. So outsider can open the window and unlock it from outside. 7) dont expect you can chill your drinking water in minibar. Dont forget to bring your own water heater or you have a choice to go down at the lobby pantry to have some hot water. Oh ya bring your own glass from home 8) sofa torn. Should no longer use to seel it 9) No hot water for earlier 2 night. 3rd no water and suddenly slow pressure water came but mud brownish. Called up reception but was told you can go down and take shower at the lobby and use toiled if I am needed. 10) do have shower but the shower hole 70% gone. The 30% leftover hole will hurt your body when you taking shower because of the pressure. do I come back no at all. Pls see all phoo that I attached so you could decide for your future stay. The management should have either fix all the problems or closed the block. Remember guest is paying for basic facilities although its one of the cheaper

The room was so nice and spacious for RM78 per night! The air-cond was good, and shower was superb. The beds were very comfortable! They have nice lighting as well. The tv only showed the satellite channel which's okay for us. The convenience store (7-eleven)'s just beside the hotel. The iron board also available for public at first floor. The man in-charge during night is helpful and friendly. We are welcomed by a lady. She treated the customer before us badly, since he asked for change of room. But she treat us okay. This hotel has no lift. The floor is very steep especially when you got 2nd floor room. Even our room does not have door number. The room was a bit dirty. During my second day stay, i took a nap in the afternoon and distracted by drilling sound (maybe there was a room under construction).
