Food is aplenty in this area and all is within walking distance.
Room rates are value for money with hot showers and air conditioning. with bathroom attached and it comes with TV.
The single room was small and dark, but also clean and had everything you need.
My main issue started at about midnight when I noticed a smell of smoke. I checked out in the corridor, but couldn’t locate the source. About an hour later the smell of smoke became a lot worse, and by about 2am it was unbearable. It now seemed as if it was coming through the ventilation in my bathroom. I went down to reception to tell them. They didn’t seem too bothered. I managed to get one of them to come with me to the room where he suggested that maybe I had been smoking in the bathroom, to which I obviously said I hadn’t (I don’t smoke). He shrugged, turned on the extractor in the bathroom and left.
The smell of smoke was so strong that I had to have the extractor and A/C on all night, and it was still only at about 4am that it cleared enough for me to sleep.
I had been due to stay two nights, but could not face that again, so went to checkout and ask for a refund. They refunded the 2nd night, but refused to refund the first saying that ‘it was against company policy’. I explained how I’d had almost no sleep and all my belongings now stank of smoke. The girl just said ‘sorry’, which is just not good enough.
I’m giving it a two rating as the facilities were quite good (although the sink was coming away from the wall), and the girl on reception was generally very helpful, but to just claim ‘company policy’ in the face of a genuine complaint suggests a bad company, and little care for their customers.
Bus stop for bus # 1 that go to Bako Park is just opposite from this hotel. Back side of this hotel is China town , has a lot of food. And this hotel is not far from water front.
This hotel is cheap and free wifi.
