Very friendly staff who were always happy to help out. The location is very central, you could walk to the riverfront and other tourist spots. we stayed for 4 nights, breakfast was good but i wished they changed the spread more so i didnt become boring after a couple of days. No inhouse carpark was a drawback.

But overall, for that price, it value for money.

We had 2 buffet breakfast at Merchant Cafe in Meritin Hotel during our stay in Kuching. They had a range of of food available. Laksa was excellent - second to none. We also had dinner at the Merchant Cafe. The kuey tiaw (served with satays) was very authentic and nice. The garden salad (served with balsamic vinegar) was very refreshing. Strongly recommend the Merchant Cafe if you visit Kuching. You do not need to be a guest to access the Cafe.

Lovely Hotel with Comfy Room. The Staff were very Friendly, Helpful & Attentive.

Great Location! We walked to the Tourist Attractions with our 3 years old son in his stroller...and We could easily find food along the way.... In fact there's a Hongkong Noodle House just next to it!

Since it was raining Cats & Dogs the next morning, we decided to Chill & have Breakfast in the Hotel since it was included. We were surprised to see Laksa and it was good!

Will I return to Meritin Hotel? That's for sure!

The hotel was in a good location for our few days of touring, supermarket opposite and a walkable distance to all the main sights of Kuching and waterfront eateries. The surrounding street was extremely quiet with nothing much open in the evenings but we found the waterfront more bustling with some good options as well as topspot round the corner for dinner.

The triple room had a very small double bed and a single exactly as pictured on their website. It felt a little cramped with the additional 2 chairs and coffee table but it was fine for 4 nights.

The breakfast choice was quite poor they had a few staple local items and one choice of egg in a dish or you could ask for a fresh fried egg to be cooked. The cereal was the cheapest you could buy tasting like cardboard and there was only one fruit option plus toast.

The staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. A bonus was the umbrellas in reception these came in handy for the downpours we had.

We discovered their Continental Breakfasts & found they were cheaper & much nicer than the ones at our hotel, so we walked a couple of blocks there most days. For what we paid, we thought scrambled eggs, toast, tea or coffee, and fruit was a very reasonable breakfast. Can't say enough nice things about the ladies that run the breakfast either - they greeted us so warmly every day, as did the men on reception. If the rest of their service was as welcoming as that, I'd recommend them !

The hotel is very clean which I appreciate. The bed is also comfortable. However, I can see some black stains on the bed sheets, hidden from view. The room is a triple room, marketed as one queen size bed and 1 single bed. However, the "queen size" bed is more of a double bed instead of queen size.

In addition, I can see the ceiling, especially around aircon ducts inside and outside hotel room, is starting to mold badly. Management should do something about this.

Breakfast is very poor with similar offering on a daily basis. Mostly carbs without much real protein or vegetables.

Response to service request was also slow. After checking in, I called housekeeping to complain about the safety box. After 30 mins, I called again and the person who answered seems clueless. Only after another 60 mins did I receive their response. I think waiting 90 mins is unacceptable!

I am a 73 year old senior with recent Total Knee Replacement (TKR). As hotel guest I now realised with deep regret that it is our personal duty to lock up personal items of irreplcable value like medicine, heath aids and equipment . It is not just money , official documents nor jewellery that we should look after. My knee braces are to assist in post surgery healing and misplaced at this hotel. They are customised to fit exactly and therefore involved lengthy effort , time and money. When we lose invaluable items it will not help to receive any comments of corporate consolation from hotel staff. "We are sorry for your inconvenience" are but empty slogans and meaningless. "We alone suffer the loss of our precious medical aid which has to be replaced accompanied by personal depression and anger at our own foolishness.

We stayed 2 nights in 2 types of rooms at hotel. Location is excellent. Staff are friendly and efficient. However, front desk doesn't know where the free Kuching Metro bus stops are on Jalan Padungan.. (We found the bus stops on our last day there.) The doorman could more helpful by offering assistance to guests.

The deluxe twin room is of good size, thus, comfortable. However, the studio room of 15m2 is so so tight. The room door opens directly to the queen bed. There was a feeling of cooped up. Housekeeping is not consistent; no hand towels weren't replaced.

Breakfast is a bit boring on week days. Hot food is served but no cereals.

The first criteria of a lodging for me is cleanliness and Meritin makes the mark. Mind you I'm just mean normally clean, not obsessive kind of clean. Second is the location. The hotel is located at a reasonable 15 minutes walk away from Waterfront.

Awesome stays here. Cleanliness of the room is superb. Highly recommended as the staff here is well trained, friendly, very helpful especially Mr. Selingan ( If I spell correctly)
Good experiences!
The room is big and decent if you pay a bit more on the upstairs.
