Being locals and would like to explore new dining experience in a fairly new hotel in Kuching. We booked a table for dinner and ordered from both Asian and Western menu. The food qualities were surprisingly similar to some cheap hawker food. Teh Tarik was like flavored sugar water and the restaurant staff were using dining tables to do their kitchen works. The worst is that the air-conditioning did not seem to work then we had to move to table outside to obtain nature air otherwise being locked in stuffy air. We cut short our dinner due to the one star treatment but we received 5 star bill.
The good: The concierge could print your boarding pass for you upon request Bidets in the washroom Nice view and able to keep the windows open for smoking room even if u don't smoke cause the wind in kuching is really nicer than the aircond The bad: The stay has not been as pleasant as the advertisements have described. Despite the plus point on having bidets in the room's washroom and enable guests to email their boarding pass to the concierge to be printed, there are a lot of room for improvements especially on housekeeping! Do your management and service team has anything against the local? It's so substandard! Breakfast is bad although u have omelette and sunny side ups prepared on the spot. Just walk out nearby to eat. Towels were yellowing and needs bleaching. Please do not leave the towels on the desks next time. Leaving on the bed was still fine! During my first stay in December 2022, my husband needs to tell the reception counter 3 TIMES to provide another set of toiletries from the moment we checked in (verbally over the phone) to the moment we return to the hotel at night (physically twice). During my second stay in Feb 2023, i understand there is a huge corporate check in but that doesn't give you the chance to discriminate local check in and give us a room where its slap in between the lifts which is noisy. I specifically wrote I wanted the room I stayed in December. If I can't at least tell me so and negotiate with me but no one acknowledge this point. Instead you send me into a room with a broken fridge, the aircond timer kept auto off itself then the room's wall is really thin that I could hear next door or even the background music at the lift lobby. One of the downlight wasn't even functioning and the room was dim. Another downlight needs to take time to warm up by flickering for a long while before it works. The wardrobe light wasn't even functioning either! I had to tell the reception that I want a change of room 3 TIMES! First night I already indicate my intention so why isn't your receptionist telling me that it will be done instead I was told about the large corporate check in. Fine, you told me Friday morning to go down myself to the counter to request and on Thursday night I already call the second time. Why isn't the receptionist arranging this?! Instead i need to tell him to give me a call next morning to tell me if it's possible to change at 8-9am? Why aren't your staffs not proactive at all?! This is not the worse! What's worse is on Friday morning 8-9am I once again do not have any news at all from your Recep! I had to walk down physically to the reception to ask on the same freaking question! Do you really love to listen to your guests harping on the same freaking question every single time?! Only then did I get a confirmation on the change of room BUT again, if I don't ask what time, when is the Recep going to tell me? NO! Fine you tell me at noon then I again had to call your Recep and ask what time at 12.05pm. I seriously am pissed off with this that you all just made it worse! I expect someone to call me or ring my door bell since I have multiple request but NO! You all had to keep me inside the room waiting with the aircond on power trip! The multiple calls I received from diff Receps made it feels like communication breakdown is happening! When I finally changed to a higher floor room, fine I have a functioning fridge now and a functioning wardrobe light and downlights except for the washroom's mirror light was flickering to warm up, that's fine. The problem is back to your housekeeping. I requested for 3 sets of toiletries as my sisters would be around and there's 3 of us and I perfectly got them even with bath robes BUT why is the bottle water restricted to 4 per day per room? There's 3 of us for goodness sake! If you're saying 1 /2 of us, fine i will let you restrict but it's 3, how is this reasonable? Is it even your hotel policy to not replenish toiletries daily? Of all my hotel stays in any other part of the world, your hotel is the most stingy one ever with this! There was 3 of us! What is wrong to replenish 3 sets daily or even 2 sets daily during my December stau proactively?! Fine not replenishing toothbrush, toothpaste or even shampoo, conditioner and body soap so be it. We still have enough BUT WE LITERALLY FLIPPED THE TOILET ROLLS COVER TO INDICATE IT'S EMPTY YET IT'S NOT REPLENISH! THIS IS SO ABSURD! IF YOU SAY WE WERE TAKING HOME ALL THIS, CHECK THE RUBBISH BIN WE HAVE BEEN USING THEM AND EVEN SO WHAT'S WITH YOU BEING SO STINGY?! WE PAID YOU SO MUCH EXPECTING ALL THIS DIDN'T WE? I PAID SO MUCH OF HOTEL FEE TO FEED YOUR CEO POCKET ONLY IS THAT SO? THAT SUCH PROPER HOUSEKEEPING TO RECEPTION TRAINING ARE BEING CUT COST?! YET WHEN I SAID I WANTED TO PRINT MY BOARDING PASS THIS TIME, CAN YOUR MANAGEMENT PLEASE HAVE PROPER SOP?! ONE CONCIERGE TELL ME TO EMAIL TO dutymgr@rmh.my cause AWANG HAS ALREADY RESIGNED. FINE I DID IT EXPECTING IT TO BE SENT LIKE YOU ALL DID IN DEC BUT ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT EMAIL IS FULLY LOADED AND SLOW THAT I HAD TO WAIT. SO I SAID TO NEXT DAY YET I NEED TO CALL THE CONCEIRGE ONLY TO KNOW AWANG'S EMAIL CAN STILL BE USE AND WHAT IS WORSE IS THAT THE EMAIL I SENT TO PREVIOUSLY IS AT RIVERSIDE MAJESTIC HOTEL NEXT DOOR! IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER ROOM OF THE SAME NUMBER THERE AND KNOWING HOW CARELESS YOUR MANAGEMENT IS, WOULDNT THE GUESTS HAVE KNOWN MY PERSONAL DETAILS?! WHERE IS THE ASSURANCE OF CONFIDENTIAL DETAILS NOT BREACHED? NONE, NO ONE HAS TOLD ME OF SUCH ASSURANCE! YET YOUR AIRCOND TRIP MULTIPLE TIMES DURING MY STAY I DIDN'T BOTHER CAUSE I UNDERSTAND YOU'RE ALL STILL UNDER RENOVATION BUT THE SERVICE IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! IN DECEMBER I WAS CHARGED 100% BEFORE I CHECKED IN. IN FEB I WAS CHARGED FIRST NIGHT BEFORE CHECKED IN AND UPON CHECKED IN YOU HOLD MY CREDIT LIMIT OF 1500. UPON CHECKED OUT I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO CHARGED THE FULL BALANCE BUT WHEN I ASKED THE RECEP, I WAS TOLD TOTAL CREDIT LIMIT THAT WILL BE HOLD IS RM3K! WHEN IN ACTUAL FACT, YOU TELL ME IS IT YES OR NO? I AM SERIOUSLY FED UP WITH YOUR MANAGEMENT BEING SO MONEY MINDED! A formal email had been sent to your management!…
I purposely booked the hotel as it is considered a new hotel which was completed just before covid. However I was a bit disappointed with the hotel. The room size is big but from the bathroom condition can know the room is not well maintained. Can see stains around the toilet bowl. The toilet sink drain was faulty. One of the bedside reading light blinking at night even though I was off it already. The management of the hotel needs to improve the maintenance of their room. It seems like all the hotels under the group got this common problem, lack of maintenance for their rooms. The same problem I noticed during my stay in another hotel under the same company last year. Breakfast in the hotel under my expectations also. With the same or lower room rate, other hotel in Kuching actually offer better breakfast choices. …
Recommended? YES. Here is WHY? i said so. 1. Well prepared. My room are ready once i reached in hotel. 2. Check in Process super clean and fast 3. Great Waterfront View. 4. Fast respond for my request . Exccellent Down side, 1. Breakfast wasn't that great.
Return to this hotel after 5 years. Always stay in Puteri Wing since Astana wing is still under construction. The team members from security officer, concierge, reception, even in restaurant crew were excellent. The service were on the top notch. Always smile and greet all guests in their field of vision, vigilant and and attentive. Check in process is fast, lest than 5 minutes but need to return to the counter due to wrong room category - not an Issue and Ms Jennifer resolved the glitch in a matter of second. Superb!! Clearly all team members are seasoned and know their individuals duty very well. Breakfast choice is good, from inter continental to local selection is available. There are plenty of activities and tourist attractions nearby. Kuching waterfront just across the street where you can find plenty of food and souvenir as well as entertain. Overall this is a perfect hotel to stay whenever you visit Kuching. The only downside of this trip is the swimming pool is closed due to the renovation but still you can still use the pool in the sister hotel , Grand Margarita. A huge thank you to Ms Jennifer who's always smile and attentive and tried her best to accommodate my stay and make my stay memorable. Thank you so much Jen! …
Recommended this as newly refurbished but both rooms were with stained walls and moldy toilet. Nevertheless Jennifer of front desk is awesome manager who handled the matters professionally. Get the Deluxe rooms if you want TRUE river views. Superior room bookings get you side and partial views. Good water pressure. clean sheets but the towels need bleaching, already yellowing. Was a nightmare at first, but after Jennifer's help on the rooms, all are good. A**** restricted my true review so I hope this one posts.
Highly recommended. The room I got had an amazing view of the Sarawak river and the various landmarks of Kuching including the Dun Petra Jaya and Mount Santubong. I took beautiful picture shots of the view while it was sunny and while it was raining. Simply breathtaking! Accidentally I managed to watch the Darul Hana musical fountain show on my first night as I happened to be sitting right in front of the waterfront enjoying my delicious ice cream gula apong (Name of stall is “IG Ais Krim” - A MUST TRY!) just 10 minutes before the show started. I did not know it was going to happen, so it was a sweet surprise for me! The musical fountain can be seen from my hotel room as well! Almost everything is available within walking distance - 7-11, eateries, pharmacy, supermarket, shops, seafood restaurants, McD, KFC, etc. A very convenient location. Do remember to mention “Astana Wing” to Grab/Taxi drivers as 2 of the drivers dropped me at the old wing and I had to walk awhile to the right wing. Thankful for a friendly stall lady who saw I was lost and guided me the way. Do note that there are no bathrobes in the room, no toothbrush and toothpaste. There are 2 water dispensing machines along the walkway of my floor so that was very convenient as well. The sink stopper was not working and dripping water can be heard in the A/C duct throughout my 4D/3N stay but I was not so bothered about it. Sometimes the TV channels do not have any reception. There is also no safety lock on the door of the room. Other than that, all was good. Would definitely stay at this hotel again in my next trip to Kuching. Hopefully pretty soon as still lots in Kuching for me to see and taste.…
I opted for Riverside Majestic Astana Wing as my quarantine stay. From the moment I was picked up to the stay itself, the service has been great. I am currently still staying in my Deluxe King room on the 15th floor (the bed is super comfortable!). By all account, select the river view room. Each even the sky turns into a magical hue of oranges, the most beautiful sunset. A stay would not be great if not for the service. I would like to call out Amos Chong who checked me in upon arrival. His customer service is personable and with lots of attention to detail. He has the ability to make you feel like as if you're a returning VIP even if its just your first stay. Kudos also goes out to Ivy from the restaurant. Each morning she greets with such delight and would address me by name. She's definitely a ray of sunshine. I cant wait to meet her once I get out of quarantine. I definitely would be back and would recommend friends to stay here. For the two excellent staff, Amos and Ivy, I hope you get recognize for the 5 star hospitality you show.…
This hotel is classed as a four star. However, we went to our room and were horrified to find blood on the wall, dust,dirt and hair on the floor and mould and rust in the bathroom. After lodging an official complaint to the reception we we 'upgraded to an equally dirty room! Which we requested to be cleaned. This is basic hygiene, something that should not cost money to put right, so no excuse to offer guests rooms in this condition. I am appalled that in this day and age this can happen. It was simply disgusting!
Never been to my home town for years and decided to put up in some local hotels for a staycation . Happy with my choice , modern and clean hotel room, efficient service from teh reception team, reasonable pool. Importantly having a good time with my family .
