Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful location. Had a wonderful stay with friends. Accommodation was spotlessly clean, breakfast is basic but good, lovely to have a swimming pool. Great food court about 2km away and a few shops and bars. It was lovely to get back after a day out and swap stories with other guests over a beer. I would highly recommend staying here.

So this is a first: Was turned away and had our booking cancelled due to me being overweight! The host quoted reasons such as them not being suitable for me due to them having many stairs. This ofcause is not the truth as I can obviously walk stairs! Another reason was there being 2 km to food courts - which again is not the truth as I can walk this distance, plus transportation/taxis are available. The real reason for me and my girlfriend being turned away: all their furnitures are unusual cheap and fragile carrying little weight. I have travelled internationally throughout my entire life, including 3 previous trips to beautiful Malaysia. Thus, I have stayed at hundreds of accomodations. Never once before have I been turned away. So, if the host considers you as being too overweight, beware that you just may be left stranded in Malaysia.

Very beautiful and atmospheric place, close to nature. The owners are extremely nice and flexible. You feel like you’re staying at friends’ home, not at another soulless hotel. We strongly recommend. Very clean swimming pool and good breakfast.

Staying at Nanga Damai Homestay was a real highlight for us and we couldn’t recommend it enough. The Homestay is a beautiful little oasis surrounded by rainforest (where we often saw proboscis monkeys swinging from the trees). We stayed in two rooms throughout our stay and both were spotless and lovely. Our hosts, Polycarp and Louise, made us feel like part of their family and bent over backwards to make sure we had the best experience possible. As an added bonus, they would take us to the nearby restaurants and attractions so we rarely had to walk (but if you did, Damai Central is only a 20 minute walk away).

Very welcoming Polycarp and Louise run this beautiful Homestay next to the "jungle' where Silver leaf and Proboscis monkeys may be spotted. Very clean and nice cottage, next to stream and wildlife. Loved everything, great people, great vibe and good conversation in the evenings. Hope to be back some day 😊

They say a picture tells the story . Pictures show the beauty of a stay and it’s location what it can’t give you, is the peace and serenity you feel just by being there. My Sister and myself , were so looking forward to our visit with Polycarp and Louise and we loved every min of our stay . Polycarp and Louise realise that they are a bit remote and offer lifts to local restaurants. We would recommend Nanga Damai to anyone wanting to find that little piece of heaven . Excellent hosts Best wishes June and Pauline

Nanga Damai is a beautiful homestay in the middle of the jungle. It was one of the nicest places where we slept in Malaysian Borneo. The hosts, Louise and Pol, are very friendly and helpful. The place is quite remote, but Louise and Pol are willing to bring you to places with their car to have lunch or dinner. In the area you can do jungle trekkings, wildlife river cruises (where you have a chance to see dolphins, crocodiles, probuscus monkeys and fireflies), visit bako national park or just chill at the beach or at the beautiful pool at the homestay. The homestay has a bar where you can grab a soda, a beer or a mix drink. Would definitely recommend staying here when you visit Sarawak!

We often had read reviews of people extending their stay at Nanga Damai and we ended up doing exactly the same. This place is truly a small piece of paradise, with incredible nature and wildlife surrounding the property. We saw so many monkeys jumping around the trees on a daily basis. The hosts, Poly and Louise, took amazing care of us, giving us lifts to the nearby village and entertaining us with evening conversations. The facilities are all spotless and the spaces are just perfect for a relaxing time, especially the swimming pool after a long day of hiking. The homestay is also very close to the entrance of Santubong National Park, so it is a great location if you plan on climbing the mountain or simply visiting the park. This is just a place you can't miss!!

This stay exceeded my expectations way beyond my imagination! We had to stay for two nights but quickly extended into 5. Poli & Luise and their helper are amazing hosts. This place is a real gem hidden in the forest under the majestic Mt Santubong. Surrounded by the lush nature you can relax like never before. Sounds of birds in the morning, cicadas in the evening, monkeys jumping around, plenty of colourful butterflies and beautiful garden full of flowers. Outdoor gym and yoga platform with the view on stream with little waterfall. And the cherry on the top, swimming pool where you chann cool down after intense hike. Doesn't it sounds like a Paradise? I'm grateful for finding this beautiful place and can't wait to be back in the future 😌

I stayed for a month , I still regularly think back with good thoughts of my days here. The friendliness of staff and locals, the monkeys coming to the bar, the geckos running up the wall....all treasured memories. I'm happy to give my highest recommendation.
