I love the location of the hotel. Walkable to all area in the city. The kuching monument just right infront of the hotel . Easy to find food in the area too. Nice view of the river. I was given room number 116. Complete toiletries provided. Will stay again for sure.

Very disappointed with the room. The room looked old with the drawers not closing properly. Furniture was also old and not firm. The air-conditioning was terribly cold and uncontrollable. Even with the AC off and the temperature at maximum 30+, the room was freezing. It was as if the AC was dumping the cold air of the floor solely into the room. The tiled flooring in the bath / WC was so cold that it was difficult to walk on barefoot even to visit the washroom. The cold was so bad that even the inside of the blankets was cold. The showers were just as bad. The water was lukewarm at best and with weak pressure. Avoided the shower A stay that I'd like to forget. Will recommend giving avoiding this hotel.

My room was not ready for check-in during both times I stayed here. On the second occasion when I mentioned that my room should have been ready since it was already 6pm, the manager replied rather dismissively "Because we're fully booked!". Aside from this unpleasantness, everything else was good. Grand Margherita is situated on the riverfront, thus giving guests an unobstructed view. Breakfast is a good variety with dimsum, cheese platter, dried fruits, cup yoghurt, laksa, kolo mee. There is also an old fashioned charcoal bread toaster. I wish Grand Margherita as such a historical hotel, can deliver better front office and housekeeping service.

The breakfast was great. i enjoyed their laksa sarawak & mee kolok. one of the best laksa sarawak & mee kolok we ever tried ! if you not staying at this hotel, please do try their 2 main dishes. you will not regret!!!!

We booked it as a wedding party guests due my niece is getting married tomorrow. So most of outstation families and friends stayed here due to convenience being the wedding is here and all. We checked in after a long flight Perth ,Australia - KL-Kuching. All was good until we checked into our room at the old wing. I booked 2 rooms so they gave 1 in new wing and 1 in old wing. Upon entering the room, side tables was all dusty and sticky, so obvious it wasn’t clean properly! The dustbaround the edges and glass mirror, finger prints all over closet mirrors and the room had this musky damp smell. Bedsheet had stain and pen writing on it! So we walked down and complaint. This front desk said they have inform Housekeeping and housekeeping is in our room now if I could go up and show them where to clean. I was shocked!!! I ask do i look like your Housekeeping Manager? My husband have to step in and said if you cannot change our room can you please refund all our money and we move to Hilton. OMG!!! And they are rated 3 star??? Not even face towel or hand towel in the room! Seriously i hope Sarawak Tourism Board or whoever takes care of this hotel really look into this! Don’t even get me started with the pool wedding set up!! The horror of dirty table cloths and chair covers!!

I used to be a regular to this hotel. I even wrote a review about this hotel before and often booked this hotel that my family members name the hotel Stephanie's hotel because it was my favourite place to stay when I came visiting them. I hardly able to book a room here for pass few months and had stayed at Hilton, next door to it. But this time, I was able to book it last minute. As usual, I was excited to be back. But this time it was different. Maybe due to busy schedule of Kuching's city, rooms were limited and for the first time, I had room at level 2,next to a hall (luckily there was no event). It was smaller but was OK . The room had musty smell and I went out to buy room spray. Then the drinking water issue it was really unpleasant for me. I checked into hotel at 12am,tired and wanted to go bed straight away. Changed to my pj and wanted to have a drink before sleep only to be told I had to walk to coridor to get it myself. Jug was available for water refill. This was really unpleasant to me as I was really tired and expect a hotel like this to have welcoming drinking water. Mind you, the jug and boiler were half full meaning the water was from previous guest and that meant it wasn't clean yet. I understood the hotel wanted to be environmental friendly but this wasn't the way. Other hotels that practise no plastic bottles usually would provided sealed glass bottled that are refillable to ensure the hygiene of the drinking water and still save the environment. What GM does is purely not thinking through and others would translate it as lazy work. Anyway, I was only provided with soap, bath towels and shower caps. A used bar soap was still in the bathroom and I had to request for hand and face towels. Obviously, the hotel wasn't prepared for my arrival although I checked in very late. My last straw was that I wasn't allow to wear sleeveless for breakfast. For being so strict, I would expected the hotel to be up to its standard of service but no. From room wasn't well prepared, smell musty and expected me to wear formal for breakfast, I'm not returning to this hotel unless it was my last choice. I was on vacation and it was breakfast, I must be allowed to wear what is comfortable for holiday, not for lunch appointment or fine dining. I won't even book or recommend this hotel anymore for friends or family members. It is sad it is no more my favorite hotel as my daughter had good time here with us growing up visiting family members.

I think the bed sheet and comforter was not changed. there was a brown stain on my bed, and bed smells like body odour. Floor was not vacuumed, there was mamee monster crumbs on the floor, toilet was moldy. I think it’s more of a 3 star hotel rather than 5 star. Needs major renovation and refurbishment. Breakfast was not nice.

Giving 4 stars cos this can possibly be as good as it gets for a 4star hotel in Kuching. rooms seemed to have been partially refurbished altho the bathrooms have been left behind and the deluxe room bathrooms really do look like they have been fitted in from a budget hotel. Elsewhere, the cardio room or gym is quite sad. Again, in comparison to the other hotel gyms ive been too, this is slightly better but still very uninspiring. Pool is ok and the bfast buffet is not bad - very lively till fullhouse as I guess most rooms come with the compli bfast. Spread is not bad too. Must say that service-wise, the standard is there and my family and i were pleasantly surprised when i mentioned that it was my dad's bday and the kind front office manager - Ms Kimberland, said they would send up a cake. We were expecting a slice but it turned out to be a full cake!! Price-wise, it's slightly above average. Conveniently located though attached Sarawak complex is very sad. Some rooms are probably more refurbished than others and rooms with "city' view may get you a carpark view.

The faucet in toilet is loose, there is unknown hair rubber band beside the phone, killed a few small flies, the carpet in the room looks dirty. There is spot on pillow case. There is water in the water jug and water boiler... Tv is blurry

I bring my wife stay here during staycation promo, Srwk Day..book through Insiders app (as they promo to use apps a lot)..but overall our stay really terrible.. I did pre checkin using the app & show to the receptionist, surprisingly they ask me back what’s that?.. and they not keen for guest to use that apps for pre checkin.. Once arrive inside the room, at level 6, I check the toilet first, and notice the toilet bowl so dirty with the stain & the floor also, slippery with dirty stain here and there.. The room so dusty, as no housekeeping was done..and my wife can’t sleep overnight as she allergic to dust (runny nose whole night).. Also there was a dirty stain on the bedsheet..how come?.. U didn’t wash the linen?.. They didn’t provide mineral water as got coway machine outside, we need to refill using jug provided…but then there was some water left inside the jug not being clean for ages!! How come u expect guest to use it? Check out; Once again there was problem when you using Insiders app..seem like the hotel didn’t link to the apps.. I book & pay everything through the apps, but yet the receptionist (Reno) ask me “ Did we already pay for the stay?” What? Do you think we stay for free? We use the app, pay through there with deposit also..u promo a lot to use the apps but then the ground staff cant link to the apps and make everything so complicated for the guest.. We also ask for extra towel and they charge for RM45..that's ok as we ask for it, but the annoying part was the attitude of the receptionist (Reno)..she ask for the payment sarcastically, seem like we can't afford to pay.. Now i know that we pay less for your hotel because we didn't pay for your staff's attitude.. Best advice; don't use Insiders app, it will make your life miserable Better advice; don't stay here!
