The owner of the hotel is very friendly and very welcoming as we feel like we're at home. The hospitality is superb. The place and location surrounding by many Chinese Restaurant and not very far from the waterfront kuching (1km).You can take a walk. The room space is okay,the bathroom is sharing and the wifi is good. My sister have fever and all shop is close and big thanks to the owner who giving my sister a paracetamol.The best hospitality I ever had.Excellent!!

I came here on a solo trip wanting to go to Bako. Sam tried to get everyone together as a group everyone that was staying there went together. Him and Jen took me to the market when I wanted fruit. Jen woke up early to prepare breakfast. Sam and Jen are so lovely. The place is cute and is clean. There is a fridge, cute outdoor patio. The location is right next to a vegan restaurant and at the Bako bus station. Thank you auntie and uncle. I will be sure to come back

We book the room by mail. At first, we were a bit puzzled when the taxi left us in front of this place. But what a backpacker!!! Sam is amazing. He loves talking to his guests, is very helpful, will do everything he can to help and advise you. My husband and myself, we loved talking to him. He is such a funny and interesting guy. His wife is also lovely. The bedrooms we stayed in did not have windows, which avoided us to be waken by the street. They were clean, like the share bathroom. Our 2 kids had their own bedroom. They both enjoyed the patio/ terrace. This is the best place to meet with all other travellers, or to stay quiet outside. The breakfast is very generous. The place is at walking distance from everywhere in Kuching. Yes, there are lots of cats, but the place was clean. We do recommend this place. Nathalie…

The owners are some of the kindest, most helpful people you will meet. The guest house has great a homely/Traveller vibe and is a great base for adventures to the national parks. The accommodation was clean and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was a good size. The showers came with shower gel which was a bonus and they also give towels to dry yourself (which is a nice change from my microfiber towel) the property was also located next to a street full of shops and restaurants, handy when you don't want to go far for food after a day of hiking. Fully recommend staying here!

The owner Sam and Georget treat you like a family member or a friend. You feel welcome since day one. I stayed there two nights and some hours (not after a day I have slept there) to wait for my flight. They try to help you as much as possible and tell you where to go. They also offer you a tent to rent for 4 MYR if I remember correctly. If you couldn’t book an accommodation in Bako, just rent a tent and stay there for overnight. Sam drove me and another guest to an Indian restaurant and we all ate together. I can totally recommend this place and when ever I will be back in Kuching, this would be my first choice. You have to consider many cats there.. Sometimes in your feet or on the table... Smell human/cat urine in the commun area... Kitchen but no fridge No window in the room Owner want to help but speak to fast to munch... Don't go there to be in the silence. Fortunately there are many choice for breakfast and location is good..

Hi Charlotte F, Thank you for writing a review for us but the negative review was very up-setting & a very sabotaging comment which was not true & very ill intention. First of all you booked through the Booking.com for a double room without window. So we gave you the room without window & the room that we gave you is the family room, bigger than others. Instead of showing appreciation, you're "disappointed"! On the other hand, You mentioned Human/Cat urine & yet this was not true as human don't urine in the communal area but for the cats if they urine, we surely will deodorize or neutralize the smell. Hygiene & Cleanliness are part of our Business. While we feed the cats everyday, we make sure they're fed earlier & not in the Kitchen or guests' areas, but at the back of storage space & out of guests' sight. Whatever steps we've taken, we considered, "Customers' feelings & reactions" to their advantages. Regarding the fridge, it's out of order at the kitchen, so all our guests are using the Refrigerator in front of the entrance. You've spent 3 days in the guesthouse but you're ignorant of a bigger fridge in the receptionist counter. With reference to speaking too fast of my english which is not my mother's tongue, then we'd have spoken slower to you if you related to us(me) earlier but most of our guests would easily understand us without difficulties. Even the review you've written wasn't clearly written & I have been reading over & over again without getting a gist of it! Overall, we hope that you're not disappointed with us as you've been asking of us how much we're going to charge you for a single room for the days ahead of you.

We stayed here in November and when we happened to be back in Kuching in December, we gladly came back. The owners are so nice and helpful, you can learn so much about the area and get great tips for your stay. Place is very clean and rooms comfortable with AC. The breakfast was very nice too and the WiFi was strong enough in the breakfast area to work online. Plus they have a bunch of cute kitties! If we're ever back to the area, we will definitely be back to Marco Polo. Thank you for the amazing stay!

Tourism is a living biz, so we'll keep you up to date for your future trip. So do drop by & probably there'll be more things to see as our Government is set to improve & tourist destinations like the Niah cave, Fairy cave, wind cave & the new discovery caves in Mulu NP. Other than that, we've our World Class Museum under completion by end of the year 2019. In July & August, we've the Rainforest World Music Festival & Food Festival, etc. There're so many activities in Borneo & locally that you'll not get bored. This coming weekend, due to Asian Film Festival, famous actor Steven Seagal will be here to promote Film industry, etc. Until then, We wish you the best of everything in your undertakings & happy adventures! We had a great stay at this hostel, the owners en staff are very friendly, they even invited us to go out for diner with them! The rooms are clean and the aircon works great. The common area is really nice to sit and chill. Definitly would stay here again!

One of the best places we’ve stayed during our Southeast Asia backpacking travels. My wife and I originally planned to stay three nights but ended up staying for almost a month! Samuel and Jane were wonderful hosts and made us feel like we were staying with family. They are genuinely kind people who are more than willing to share about their culture and also learn about yours. We had great conversations and they were kind enough to take us to their favorite night market for dinner during our stay. Our room was comfortable, aircon worked great, clean bathrooms/showers and generous breakfast every morning (not just toast like most hostels/guesthouses). We had no issues getting a good night’s sleep as the neighborhood is generally quiet at night. The guesthouse is located within walking distance to great restaurants where you can enjoy some amazing local dishes such as Laksa. We also found it easy to use Grab to get to the national parks, malls and other locations outside the neighborhood. Highly recommend staying at Marco Polo’s. Can’t wait to return and spend time with Samuel, Jane and the cats in the wonderful city of Kuching!…
