The Secret Sanctuary is a true gem tucked away in the beautiful city of Kuching. Cyril has created a really unique space that makes you feel like you’re hiding out in the jungle, although you can step outside and easily reach everything the city has to offer including the Monkey Forest, some excellent restaurants, and some great fruit and vegetable markets. This place instantly puts you in a state of bliss and relaxation as you enter the wild world of waterfalls, indigenous artwork, serenity, and serendipity. The food is amazing, and everything from the honesty bar to the inspirational writings on the wall make you feel like you’ve escaped the matrix and landed in a little slice of paradise. I love the concept of the honesty bar and self-service kitchen for simple items. Like his signboard says, there are no waiters, just family :) Make sure to talk to Cyril about spirituality, consciousness, and the true self. His wisdom is so valuable and this experience will change your life!

Awful place run by a depressed guy who tries to cheat his guests. It says breakfast included, but you have to ask every morning or you get nothing! If you like mosquitos and terrible service, this is the place for you.

It came across my mind where I spent my Chinese New Year eve with a very “grumpy” guy called Cyrill. It was at his place called The Secret Sanctuary where me and my wife always spent time together. This is always our escape place where we can swim at the pool that open 24 hours, where we can dig out snacks from the kitchen if we were hungry and keep our body warm with infra-red sauna or comforting ourselves with jacuzzi. All the facilities are 24 hours. Back to this guy called Cyrill. He running this place for years and he own the place originated from 3 lot of normal house where he transformed that place into a total sanctuary in the middle of busy road side place. When the first time you meet this guy, you will surely think that he was a Japanese guy with very serious and hard character. Istart to know him on my last visit, it was on the Chinese New Year eve where my wife and her friends and of course me spent the night together at this place. It was just a normal night for us after being so tired being a child in the evening which is swimming and playing around at the place until he approached us at the bar sharing one topic that change how I think and how people cannot judge all the things from outside. This “grumpy” old crap guy (which is he called himself that) sharing his knowledge about healing. Something many of us can see it either from reading or watch tons of video about it. We spent almost the whole night talking about his experience and about what exactly healing is and the concept of healing. I experience it and whatever this guy talking will make sense. I am not talking about cult or anything about anti-religion. But I am sure this guy had alternative to heal something. Not only about him. About this place called Secret Sanctuary is totally focus on healing place and if you step inside this place you will know that you are in the different dimension. All of this experience you can feel it when you go to this place. Please make sure you talked to this old crap. Cause all of his crap is totally worth it. - From a guy who believe in miracle

An amazing lanscaped natural urban retreat, be transported into a real sanctuary, a unique and special place. Make yourself at home, help yourself (Supermarket only 5 mins walk for anything extra you need), respect the openness of Cyrill and bathe in the tranquility. The fish ponds, rocks, waterfalls, plants, herbs, bamboo environment is captivating. The free form sculptured pool feels like a natural pond, swimming togs free seems logical and is acceptable if other guests don't mind. This is a place to be free and connect with nature. Recommended.

I booked a room with a queen size bed. Got a mattress on the ground (and that was even the second room after I complained). The room was filthy. The bath room not cleaned. No wifi on the room. I got told off by the owner cause I didn't call at what time I would arrive! I was lucky he waited for me all day??? I was lucky!?! I was the only guest and I have left within half an hour. I felt horrible up there.Total ripoff.

I stayed for one week at Cyril's place and it was just amazing. It is a quiet SBD relaxed spot in the middle of Kuching. The food they offer is delicious. You can even have a fresh fish out of one of the ponds. My room provided a lot of space and the hammock inside provided me a good afternoon rest. Outstanding was the speed of the WiFi. Of you need to upload photos to the cloud or you want to have a really good Skype connection, this is the right place.

Very awesome place. Lots of facility and very tranquil. Only downside is the mosquito at night. But the resort gave us mosquito nets and mosquito killing lamps. Very friendly staff that goes the extra mile to make the stay more awesome. We had an early flight the next day. Staff woke up early and made breakfast for us. Appreciate it Overall... definately will visit again
