Had a short weekend trip with family to Kuching and stayed at Sheraton, the newest hotel in town. First impressions were positive, with a smooth and efficient check-in process.
The playroom was rather dull, offering barely any games to entertain the kids. The rooftop swimming pool, though visually appealing, felt quite chilly, likely due to being under a roof.
The beds were comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep—at least until noise became an issue. Surprisingly, the rooms were not equipped with Smart TVs, which felt out of place for such a modern hotel.
The location was a big plus, conveniently situated in downtown Kuching within walking distance of popular hotspots and eateries.
Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled by the lack of soundproofing. Our room had connecting doors to the next room, and on the second night, noisy guests kept us up past midnight. The early morning noise from the same guests added to the disturbance.

This is a beautiful new Sheraton in an interesting location. Check in was smooth with ready recognition of my elite status. I was upgraded to the highest floor. The welcome amenity was top notch with local fruits and chocolates and freshly made cookies. It was one of the best welcome gifts I have ever received in a Marriott property. Minor housekeeping and noise issues were acknowledged and dealt with promptly and to my complete satisfaction. The lounge staff were professional, attentive and most welcoming. One staff member took the time to outline the local bushwalking attractions. This was much appreciated. The wine served in the lounge was most acceptable. The view from the rooftop pool area is stunning. It was great to see the pool and gym staff actively enforcing the clearly displayed pool and gym rules. These keep us all safe. Unfortunately l can not recall particular staff member names but they were all wonderful. Great work. I hope to return soon.

Total disorder on arrival. We had to wait in the lobby more than 5 hours for our room to be ready (like all other guests). We did not see a single guest leave the hotel in the afternoon! In fact, I guess the cleaning staff was absent , arrived at the end of the day or in insufficient numbers due to the festive period and thus no cleaning in the rooms was done in time. Only one bath towel in the bathroom, otherwise very small. No hot water in the morning. Very good bedding. Beautiful swimming pool on the top floor with stunning views of the city and sunset. One morning, the staff forgot to open swimming pool and gym on time, we had to ask. Two bottles of water per day per person offered. As we lost half a day during the check-in, we asked the management of this property and the senior manager who kindly responded.

This has been my worst experience with Sheraton Kuching and perhaps the worst with any hotel under the Marriott brand. This is my third visit to this location, and unlike my stays at other Marriott properties, I have never received a post-stay survey email from Sheraton Kuching.
During my first two visits, I was well taken care of by the Duty Manager, Sabrina. However I understand she is no longer with the hotel this time around. I arrived around 3 PM, but my room was not ready. Additionally, the receptionist who checked me in appeared puzzled and not well trained. I was not offered my Titanium Elite benefits nor the compulsary elite welcome gift! Which for your info i can request for a compensation of 100usd from Marriott Bonvoy if it is not offered upon checked in. I was directed to the club lounge to wait for my room, where I observed one female staff behaving unprofessionally—gossiping and cursing about other guests before my eyes!
I finally received my room after 4:30 PM and was informed that it lacked bath towels, which housekeeping would provide later and I was okay with that as long as i got my room. Upon entering my room, I discovered not only the absence of bath towels but also a lack of other toiletries except for a SINGLE toothbrush. I also found a cockroach in the bathroom (which i flushed down the toilet) and numerous hairs on the floor. This level of cleanliness is unacceptable for the Sheraton brand.
As a Titanium Elite member, I typically receive a fruit basket or platter as a welcome amenity at other hotels, but this was not the case here. When I inquired about it, the provided amenity was substandard and disappointing. (Pack of candy, kek lapis and bottle of juice?! ONLY)
On my second day, I requested my laundry to be delivered back to my room and asked for a laundry bag. An hour passed despite my request, no one attended to it, and I had to go to the reception myself to obtain a laundry bag. This experience made me question whether I was staying at a Marriott hotel, as the customer service quality has significantly declined.
As a loyal Titanium Elite member, I do not expect to receive such poor service from any hotel.

I have stayed at Marriott hotels many times over the years, but Sheraton Kuching has been the most disappointing experience!
When booking on Booking.com, I specified that I wanted a room with a king-sized bed but received no response. Upon arrival at the hotel, no staff came to help with my luggage, and during check-in, the front desk seemed completely unaware of my request for a king-sized bed. I was then informed that the hotel was fully booked, and they couldn’t change my room.
They initially assigned me a room on the lowest floor, which I refused. After discussing with the manager behind the scenes, they finally arranged Room 1315 on the 13th floor. However, upon entering the room, there was a very strong smell of cigarettes. Since I don't smoke, I am highly sensitive and averse to this odor. I went back to the front desk to negotiate again, and the front desk lady had to check with the manager several times. I never once saw the manager during the whole process.
No one helped with my luggage upon arrival, and during check-in, they didn’t explain the location or hours of the hotel facilities. I wasn't informed about when or where breakfast would be served. They just handed me the room card and left me to find my way to the room on my own, even having to figure out the elevator by myself!
The room I was given is particularly small, and the bathroom is cramped as well. The entire room reeks of cigarette smoke. I’m staying here for four nights in total, but it's only the first day, and I have no idea how I’ll tolerate it for the rest of the stay.

Booked a 3 days 2 nights stay at Sheraton. During check in, was a bit disappointed to know that the gym and pool is still not in operation due to renovation. After the check in, we were given a room on level 3, room was great and bed was comfy. Only cons are there is a really bad smell in the room and the wall is leaking water while I was taking a shower, causes a small flood in our bathroom. The next morning, we decided to inform front desk. In the afternoon while we were out, we received call from the hotel informing us that they needed sometime to check the room, so they extended a complimentary upgrade to another room that comes with a bath tub. We were happy to hear that. Shortly after the room change, there are amenities like fruits, chocolate, cake sent to our room. We were so surprised. Then after, we received call from front desk that they are extending complimentary breakfast for us as well. Until this part, all of our bad impressions of the hotel was already gone.
Special shoutout to Sabrina from reception that helped us with the room change and also Rachel from the restaurant in approaching us to follow up on our stay while we were leaving for breakfast early this morning.
Felt so much love and care from the team. Thank you Sheraton for an unforgettable experience. Will definitely recommend to our friends and family to stay here whenever we are in town.

Had a blast stay at Sheraton Kuching.The hotel was open recently end of 2023 so most of the hardware is flashy new.The service was superb.Everybody was so thoughtful and greet us by name since we arrived.
Despite the name is "Junior Suite" it have facilities and a size of a full suite with seperated living room, dining area, seperated bedroom, full bathroom with double vanity basin, stand alone bathtub and seperated shower. It also come with a fancy powder room, a coffee machine and automated curtain. It deserve to be called a proper suite instead of the title junior!
Club lounge looks luxurious serving breakfast, evening cocktails and free soft drinks, juices coffee, tea snacks all day long. I would rate the evening cocktails 8/10.Quite a good selection of canapes and tasty meals. We opted for breakfast at the main restaurant. Love the laksa sarawak,mee kolok and the sweet passion fruits.
The pool is not that big but open until 11pm and it offer a great scenery of Kuching city.The gym was open 24 hours and they have a little kids club next to the gym and pool.Overall,we would definitely return back if our travel bring us to Kuching considering the redemption rates is quite good compare to the cash rate.

I have always enjoyed exceptional service at Hilton properties in Kuching, so I was eager to experience Sheraton’s hospitality. Unfortunately, my experience fell far below expectations.
Upon checking into my room, I was immediately met with a musky smell and discovered used items—an old toothbrush, tissue, and empty toothpaste—in the bathroom bin. I reported this to the manager on duty, Mizar, who kindly offered to move me to a new room with additional club benefits, including a complimentary pressing of two garments.
I sent a blouse and scarf for pressing at around 5:30 PM and requested them to be returned by 9 PM. However, at 9 PM, I received a call from Jennifer asking me to come down to the reception counter and make a payment of RM 27 before they could deliver my garments. I had to change out of my nightwear to go downstairs. When I informed her that the pressing was supposed to be complimentary, she insisted it was only available to elite members.
To add to the confusion, Jennifer called back, saying that it was, in fact, complimentary, just as I was preparing to go to reception. I proceeded to meet with Mizar, the Duty Manager, who acknowledged that it was his fault. He repeatedly took the blame, stating that the staff lacked product knowledge. Yet, he had permitted a staff member to call and ask a guest to come down at 9 PM to make a payment, failing to ensure that they understood the services they were providing.
Is this truly the standard of hospitality at Sheraton? I felt as if I was being passed between team members without anyone taking genuine responsibility for ensuring a seamless and respectful experience. The entire situation was inconvenient, unprofessional, and far from the quality of service I expected.
Regrettably, this experience has led me to conclude that Sheraton Kuching does not meet the standard I have enjoyed at Hilton. While I wanted to give Sheraton a try, I am now certain that my future visits to Kuching will be with Hilton.

Everything was tip-top 😍 Staying 1 night for advance birthday celebration 🥳 Room at higher floor facing river view,the room is quiet,clean and the bed is comfy!
